If you need a beginner friendly base location, look no further than the Lily Pond! For many adventurers, this spot marks the beginning of their journey into the heart of Green Hell. Here, newcomers take their first steps into the wild, learning the basics of survival while taking in the beauty of their surroundings.

This quiet zone offers lavish resources for survival while newcomers adapt to the gameplay. The pond's abundance of lily flowers aids in curing food poisoning, making it an ideal location for exploring food consumption.

In terms of nutrition, the pond is rich with arowana fish, easily caught with a simple spear. Lizards roam the area, making stone traps placed uphill from the lake a reliable source of meat. Additionally, coconut and banana trees present additional food sources, while water from the lake can be boiled for hydration, meeting all four nutrition needs.

To the west of the lake lies a small cave where adventurers can light fires and build leaf beds. This convenient feature enhances the comfort and security of the Lily Pond as a base location. Iron ore can be harvested from the cave walls and occasionally an obsidian stone will spawn on its ground.

In summary, the Lily Pond serves as an ideal starting point for the journey into Green Hell. Discovering all that the Lily Pond has to offer brings you one step closer to surviving the Amazon.

9. 46W 26S - Abandoned Tribal Village

Once you venture out of the safe sanctuary that is the Lily Pond, you will soon arrive at the coordinates 46W 26S, unveiling a hidden gem - the Abandoned Tribal Village. This sacred sanctuary was once full of life but now lays forgotten among the towering trees, lost in the murmur of the nearby river. This location offers plenty, so let's delve into its secrets.

Within the base, you'll discover blueprints for a dryer, stone ring, campfire, and cage trap. Additionally, various building materials will be spawned upon your arrival. A banana field lies just behind the ruined buildings, offering a taste of the tropics, while a hammock provides a comfortable spot for rest. However, beware of the river's water, which must be boiled before consumption due to potential contaminants. The surrounding forest offers ample wood for construction, as well as lianas for crafting essential rope. Journeying upstream takes you to a waterfall concealing a small cave that yields obsidian stone daily.

While searching the land, beware of frequent spawns of Brazilian wandering spiders on the bare ground and rattlesnakes lurking in the bushes. Every 3-4 days, jaguar attacks are to be expected, adding an element of danger to daily life.

Be cautious of aggressive tribesmen, who may attack every 3-4 days, particularly if a fire is present during the night.

Despite the risks, the Abandoned Tribal Village boasts plenty of food options. Use the cage trap to secure a steady supply of either cane toad or Brazilian wandering spider. Set stone traps for green iguanas or snare traps for capybaras, which often visit the nearby river. Fish traps and prawn traps in the water ensure an endless supply of aquatic delicacies, while red crabs and peccaries give additional food options. The banana field offers a continuous harvest of carbohydrates, complementing the protein from the drying rack's preservation of meat for long-term storage.

Surrounding the village, Brazil nut trees and coconut palms offer not only sustenance but also potential resources for base construction. The Brazil nut trees themselves can serve as sturdy foundations for your treehouse shelter, while the blue mushrooms growing on them give an energy boost.

In the Story mode, this is where you will also find a burned map of the area that will greatly help with the navigation through the forest.

What makes the Abandoned Tribal Village a great base location:

-        Abundant water sources

-        Diverse food options

-        Accessible building supplies within arm's reach

-        Big flat terrain surface for building

-        Useful blueprints and gadgets already on the location

8. 51W 27S - Drug Facility

As you venture deeper into the story of the game, your quest will lead you further west to the abandoned drug facility. Nestled amidst towering trees and tangled undergrowth, this concealed establishment presents both challenges and opportunities for survivors seeking refuge.

Initially shrouded in mystery, the drug facility shows itself as a labyrinth of crumbling infrastructure and overgrown vegetation. Yet, beneath its decayed exterior lies a trove of resources waiting to be uncovered by those brave enough to venture within its walls.

In terms of resources, the drug facility offers a wealth of opportunities for resourceful survivors. The abandoned laboratory and storage room contain a variety of materials, from canned food and juice to valuable pharmaceuticals. These resources can be utilized by players not yet accustomed to the rules of the jungle, providing a lifeline for those struggling to survive the dangers of the wilderness.

Furthermore, while searching the facility, you will find a rusty machete, a big cooking pot, a potential rusty axe spawn, and blueprints for a grill rack, water collector and killer trap. Multiple empty cans lying around will be useful to players who use the forge. In Story mode, you will also find a calendar that allows you to save the game, while in Survival mode, this is where you will locate a map.

The Drug Facility features a surprising abundance of resources. Nearby water sources, though potentially contaminated, offer hydration. Caution here is advised, as purification is necessary to eliminate harmful pathogens. The surrounding area yields a variety of sustenance options, from foraged fruits to small and large prey animals, providing a diverse diet for those who call this place home.

Within the vicinity of the Drug Facility, opportunities for construction abound. While the facility itself may provide limited supplies, the surrounding rainforest and bamboo forest offer a variety of construction materials. Lumber from towering trees, bamboo stalks, and vines for rope are readily available, facilitating the construction of additional structures. If the player clears out the area where drug plants are grown, there will be a decent building ground.

However, dangers lurk within the shadows. The presence of hostile wildlife and indigenous tribes poses a constant threat to those who settle here. Jaguars, venomous snakes, and wasps lurk amidst the overgrown foliage, ready to strike at unsuspecting prey. Care must also be taken to avoid ant hills, while hostile natives patrol the perimeter, fiercely defending their territory against intruders.

What makes the Drug Facility great:

- Wealthy amount of resources, including water and sustenance options

- Accessible building materials within the surrounding rainforest

- Premade medicine, food, and comfortable bedding

7. 51W 24S – Pond oasis

Surrounded by towering trees and lush vegetation, this pond oasis grants considerable cover from prying eyes and potential threats. While surveying the terrain, one might initially believe there isn't enough flat surface for a camp. However, the February 2023 update introduced floating frames, allowing for the construction of the base directly on the pond. This strategic placement grants natural cliff protection on three sides of your base.

Food and water sources are very generous in this location. The pond itself offers readily available water, but caution is advised as it may harbor parasites. Boiling the water before consumption is essential to neutralize the risk of infection.

In terms of nourishment, the area boasts a variety of options. Arowana, peacock bass, and piranha are commonly found in the pond, ensuring a steady supply of fish and fish bones for both sustenance and crafting. Moreover, Peccary, Capybara, and turtles are plentiful in the surrounding area, providing additional hunting opportunities. Prawn traps can also be set in the pond for variety. Abundant fruit and medicinal plants further contribute to the diverse diet available in this location.

When it comes to building materials, 51W 24S excels. The surrounding forest offers almost unlimited supply of wood, while trees yielding lianas for rope are very common. Additionally, a sizable bamboo field lies just south of the pond, facilitating swift construction with the aid of a sled for resource gathering.

However, dangers lurk in this seemingly idyllic setting. Piranhas inhabit the pond, posing a threat to those crossing its waters. Jaguars occasionally spawn outside the perimeter, ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey. Moreover, the presence of hostile natives introduces a constant threat, with attacks occurring more frequently if fires are left burning for extended periods or during the night.

Despite these challenges, 51W 24S stands as a beacon of opportunity amidst the vast dangerous space of the Amazon rainforest—a strategic oasis where survival instincts and tactical prowess are put to the test in the relentless struggle for dominance in the Green Hell.

What makes Pond Oasis a great camp location:

- Plentiful of water

- Vast variety of food

- Unlimited building supplies within the hands reach

6. 51W 19S - Fishing dock

This location offers an exceptional setting for establishing your base. Situated at the delta where a river meets the sea, the area presents a unique ecosystem, dividing the landscape into distinct regions. To the north lies a dense bamboo forest, while to the south, a lush rainforest thrives behind the River Dock. Accommodation options include a car seat and a hammock, providing a comfortable sleeping arrangement as you work on your base. The already present calendar in story mode allows for progress saving until the construction of a permanent ceiling suitable for saving the game.

The potential for development at this site is considerable, and there are several ways to maximize its advantages. Constructing floating frames directly on the river to support your base not only increases its resilience against potential attacks from local tribes but also enables easy access to resources from both the northern bamboo forest and the southern rainforest.

In terms of available blueprints and materials, visitors will discover resources essential for survival and crafting. These include a four-pronged spear, campfire, water filter, and a small fish trap. Additionally, there are miscellaneous items such as a rusted axe and various food supplies like protein bars and canned goods.

Food diversity is abundant, with a wide array of fish species inhabiting the surrounding waters. Alongside the prebuilt fish trap, setting up fishing rod traps and prawn traps can ensure a steady supply. Hunting birds or utilizing snare traps near the capybara watering basin to the east of the dock can provide a reliable source of meat and bones for those who prefer meat.

The area boasts an abundance of coconut palms for sustenance, and bananas and other fruits and medicinal plants are available to the south of the river. It is recommended to cultivate both types of plants to ensure a constant supply.

Building materials are plentiful, with the nearby rainforest offering ample opportunities for construction. Trees along the riverbank supply lumber, while vines and foliage can be repurposed for crafting. Bamboo forests to the north yield abundant bamboo wood, ideal for floating frames and other structures, while wooden materials are best suited for furniture.

Despite its picturesque setting, the Fishing Dock lies within the territory of formidable predators, including caimans and piranhas. While gator attacks are rare near a settlement on the river, caution is advised against piranhas while in the water.

A nearby tribesman settlement to the north (52W 17S) offers access to additional blueprints for crafting, including a bamboo dryer and torch. However, be prepared for occasional raids from the local tribes due to the settlement's proximity.

Exploring further northeast along the cliff wall reveals an entrance to a cave system rich in resources, such as iron ore and various rocks. Here, a blueprint for a medium bamboo shelter can be found, providing comfortable accommodation and game-saving capabilities. Additionally, scattered canned food, coconuts, and miscellaneous building materials can be found in this area.

What makes the Fishing Dock a great camp location:

- Unique ecosystem with diverse plant life due to the river delta location

- Plenty of resources including bamboo, fruit trees, and fish

- Strategic advantage of building on floating frames to deter tribal attacks

- Proximity to tribesman settlement offering additional blueprints

- Access to cave system for valuable resources like iron ore

- Huge flat area sustainable for building

5. 48W 16S - Cave camp

At the coordinates 48W 16S lies a small pond and the entrance to a mid-sized cave, suitable for base construction. While the specifics of this location are outlined here, the principles discussed apply to any cave in Green Hell, as they each follow the same rules.

Constructing within a cave offers several advantages. Natural rock formations serve as walls, reducing the need for additional materials. Fires are protected from rain by the cave's ceiling, and they do not attract enemies. However, gathering building materials requires venturing outside.

Food options within the cave are scarce, as the only good option is lizard meat. You can set up stone traps or hunt for them. Caution is advised with spiders and scorpions, as they are nutritious when cooked, but they have an effect on sanity. Limited space is available for planting fruits or medicinal plants, but they will require attentive watering.

Having said that, in the close proximity of the cave there is a pond that provides a consistent water source, and is  surrounded with wildlife like turtles, armadillos, and lizards supplementing protein needs. The nearby rainforest offers ample fruit and medicinal plants.

Further west lies a tribal settlement, offering blueprints, building materials, and food upon subduing its inhabitants. Blueprints available in the West tribal settlement are for weapon rack and tribal firestarter.

Why is a cave camp a good idea:

- Indestructible protection from 3 sides

- Lesser need for building material as the structure is already there

- Benefits from the rainforest are within a hand's reach

4. 35W 26S - Anaconda Island

Venturing to the 35W 26S you will find yourself on the small island known as the Anaconda Island. One of the most striking features of Anaconda Island is its diverse ecosystem, rich with life both above and below the surface.

Blueprints discovered on this island include the prawn trap, fishing rod, fishing rod trap, and campfire, provided it hasn't already been found by the player. A beehive offers a harvestable resource, while various rotten fruit and meat can be collected for larvae and maggots, serving as bait for traps and fishing.

In case of accidental food poisoning, surrounding water hosts plenty of  lily plants that regularly spawn lily flowers, offering a natural remedy.

Valuable structures and tools are already partially constructed on the island, including a tarp over the campfire to shield it from rain, wooden and bamboo frames for further construction, and a lean-to shelter with leaf bedding providing sleep and save options. A rusty machete can be found lodged in a bamboo stump near the frames.

There is a wide variety of food options here as the thick forest surrounds the river in which this island is located. On the island itself you will find a banana tree and a prawn trap which will already have prawn in it. Additionally, mice, cane toads, lizards, turtles and caiman are common visitors and good protein sources.

Safety from tribesman attacks is relatively assured, as they are unable to cross the bamboo bridge connecting the island to the mainland. However, they may wait near the bridge to strike opportunistically. Caiman will adore your little camp and they will visit often enough, so don’t drop your guard down and keep the spear handy. These gators are big tanks, so even after being shot in the head they will proceed to chase after you before they eventually die.

Why should you chose Anaconda island as a base location:

- Base is already half made

- This location is mostly safe as it is out of reach for the most of the aggressive species and tribesman

- Abundance of food sources

- Remarkable landmark that is the large anaconda propped on a stand

3. 25W 34S - Omega camp

This late game location offers a lot of prebuilt structure. It consists of two tents and an outside shelter. While Story mode grants access to both tents, Survival mode restricts entry to the southern tent, preserving an element of story discovery for players. In order to avoid revealing spoilers, only the contents of the southern tent will be discussed, while the northern one will be left for the players' own exploration.

Within the southern tent, adventurers will discover the third piece of the map, multiple sleeping coats, painkillers and several food and drink items. Additionally, empty cans scattered around the camp can be salvaged and melted down for iron in the forge.

Omega Camp is a true paradise for sustenance seekers, with mice, turtles, cane toads, and caimans frequently appearing nearby. The surrounding area is rich with fruit and medicinal plants, ensuring a steady supply of nourishment.

The nearby forest provides wood for construction, while vines offer a consistent source of rope. However, the camp's accessibility to tribesmen and caimans requires constant vigilance to ensure one's safety.

Reasons why Omega camp is a great camp location:

- Prebuilt structures

- Big flat building area

- Rich food sources

2. 28W 34S - Jake’s tent

Are you sick and tired of boiling water, and making water filters and water collectors? If you are, the best base location for you is next to the clean water stream. This unique spot can only be found beside Jake's abandoned tent, a familiar sight to those who went through the game's tutorial. Over time, the tent has become reclaimed by nature, shrouded in lush flora. Notably, while the tent doesn't exist in Survival mode, the features of this location remain consistent across both game modes, excluding the items found within the tent.

This is how this location looks in the Survival mode

The tent itself contains two beds that you can use to sleep comfortably. The surrounding area provides effective protection, with no signs of aggressive wildlife or tribal attacks.

When it comes to plant life, there is a lot of wood, rope and fruit around. Medicinal plants are also very common here. The nearby water stream provides a constant supply of clean drinking water, eliminating the need for purification methods.

Lizards frequent the area, serving as a reliable source of meat, so make sure to hunt them or set the traps for them.

Why Jake’s tent is a great base location:

- It is a safe location, as there are no natural enemies

- Steady supply of clean water

- Premade tent or big flat terrain suitable for building, depending on the game mode

- Plenty of sources for building material

- Abundance of fruit and medicinal plants

- Only location in the game with Clean Water

1. 32W 36S - Main village

At coordinates 32W 36S, lies the solemn remnants of the once vibrant Main Village. Amidst towering trees and eerie silence, this desolate settlement stands as a haunting testament to the harsh realities of life and survival in Green Hell. The Main Village, now a ghost town, bears the scars of a community lost. Abandoned huts serve as silent witnesses to the tragedy that befell its inhabitants. The somber atmosphere hangs heavy in the air, a strong reminder of human fragility in this unforgiving wilderness.

While no blueprints remain, most structures are already built. Adjacent to the village entrance lie two banana fields—one bearing fruit and the other providing leaves.

Capybaras, peccaries, and iguanas are common here, ensuring limitless food sources for survival. Building materials overflow in the fruitful rainforest, alongside an array of edible and medicinal plants.

Multiple hammocks are available for comfortable sleeping under the roofed structure. Fire pits are also present, however, fire protection is needed as they are currently exposed to the rain.

A vast, flat terrain in the village offers space for elaborate constructions, allowing creativity to flourish. While the area is relatively safe, surrounded by cliffs, caution is advised when venturing beyond its boundaries, as tribesmen may attack outside the circle, and caimans lurk near the sea.

Reasons why Main Village is a great base location:

- Big premade structure

- Vast flat terrain suitable for building

- No shortage of any of the resources needed for survival

In conclusion, Green Hell offers a lot of base locations, each with its own unique advantages and challenges.
