Look at you hacker, pathetic creature of meat and bone.

1. Nier: Automata (2017)

Nier: Automata is an open-world RPG sequel to Nier, which is itself a spin-off of the Drakengard series. Set thousands of years after the fourth ending of Nier, there’s a war going on between machines and what’s left of humanity, during which the story follows a combat android named YoRHa No. 2 Model B (2B for short), her companion 9S, and a fugitive prototype called A2.

Combat is action and not turn based, as normally found in JRPGs, with a timed counterattack system and a customized flying robot assistant called Pod that launches ranged attacks. Player upgrades are done through “Chips,” the number of which can be installed limited by the number of slots.

Oh, and you can also summon a wild animal to ride if you don’t feel like listening to the clip-clop of android feet, featuring a flying mech for some enemy fights.

Bad bosses.

Exciting combat.

A whole new world

True, a couple of these games aren’t out yet, but when they do I can guarantee they’re going to be fantastic, but if you need your sci-fi fix now, then plenty of the games above are already out and ready for you to explore.
