The Bard’s Tale follows an opportunistic adventurer and musician, as he travels across the world attempting to hone his skills through deeds both heroic and silly. While the game makes numerous references to the original trilogy, it plays more to the action / adventure genre, and the main character is driven more by carnal than noble desires, constantly setting himself up for encounters that only serve as side quests in other titles. This sets the stage for a game that can deliver plenty of laughs, both through the seemingly exasperated narrator (Tony Jay), and the truly bizarre encounters the player has with characters in the game (such as the singing trio above).
