Logan Will Be Hugh Jackman's Final Movie As Wolverine

Will Logan be Hugh Jackman's final Wolverine movie, Hugh Jackman's last Wolverine movie, Final Wolverine movie, Hugh Jackman's last time as Logan.
Called the best Wolverine movie so far to date ‘Logan’ has received spectacular reviews.

Will this really be the last time Hugh Jackman plays wolverine?

Unfortunately ‘Logan’ will most definitely be Hugh Jackman’s final appearance as Wolverine.

Confirmed by the actor himself, it was Hugh’s decision to make this the last time he would play the well loved mutant – his ninth appearance to date in the massively popular X-Men franchise which began all the way back in 2000 with the film ‘X-Men’. Since his first appearance as Wolverine the character’s popularity has skyrocketed and with little doubt he has become one of the best known and most loved superheroes today and it could be argued that Hugh Jackman is one of the biggest parts of why this is.

Not only committed to the character, Hugh has always made sure to take the time for his fans too; an attribute all too rare in today’s Hollywood that is plenty refreshing in a world filled with self obsessed celebrities.

Hugh Jackman certainly has come a long way over the last 17 years.

So why exactly won’t he be playing the clawed mutant again?

An actor who has always thrown himself into the role mind and body, Hugh Jackman has joked that one of the reasons this will be the last time he’s playing Wolverine is because he can’t stomach another egg white omelette. This is a reference to the insane workouts and regime that has gone into making this 44 year old into one of the most sculpted actors on the screen today. (Seriously, go look up the wolverine diet now - I’ll wait.)

With such an extreme and difficult to follow food and exercise schedule it would be understandable if this was the real reason, but it isn’t quite.

The reality behind his decision goes much deeper, it is Hugh’s desire to keep doing new and inspirational things with the character, which of course after 8 movies was becoming a little challenging for him to do. He wanted ‘Logan’ to be the definitive Wolverine movie - a perfect end to his story.

But... what now?

Though certainly sad to know that after this there will be no more wolverine as we know him we can at least take solace in the fact that ‘Logan’ looks like a film that takes the best of what is universally loved about the X-Men world and turns it up a notch, making a more than badass final ‘R’ rated film for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

As for the future, it’s safe to say that the X-Men movies will keep coming despite the lack of the familiar hairy form we’ve gotten used to, but is that the worst thing? It will all depend upon the replacement and who ends up playing Wolverine now that Jackman is gone. If only there was some kind of speculation regarding that somewhere.

What is next for Hugh?

Time to sit back, have a drink and take stock of things.

Well, right now your guess is as good as anyone’s. All Mr Jackman has revealed so far is his desire to eat and get fat, something he hasn’t been able to do for his entire time as Wolverine. After 17 years of having to be a chiselled hunk it must be nice to be able to relax, take a step back and finally take some time for himself. All we can do is wait and watch to see what happens. Oh, and if you haven’t seen Logan yet, you should probably go do that.
