9. Mount & Blade: Warband

Top 10 Mods for Mount & Blade: Warband

Essentially a large-scale battle simulator, reception of the vanilla (original non-modded version) release of Mount & Blade was average overall. But the game came with powerful tools (like innovative combat mechanics and a complex character system) that has supported a thriving modding community for years despite multiple delays of its forthcoming sequel “Bannerlord”.

Fans of the game, a network of history buffs and bedroom developers, quickly began creating mods that vastly improved the repetitive quests, dialogue, and dated graphics. In addition to bug fixes and graphical improvements, many of the most popular mods for M&B are ones that build off of the main premise of the original game— big battles! Napoleon, Viking warlords, zombies, storm troopers… they’re all ready to do battle on the modded fields of Mount & Blade: Warband.

That civil war battle in Skyrim that was a little anticlimactic? Yeah there’s a Mount and blade mod for that.

Custom troops: Here is an example of some of the customization possible. Just think of a battle you’d want to reenact; there’s probably a mod for that.

Sabres of iron or light: Your troops do battle with all kinds of sabres in Mount & Blade thanks to mods!
