[Top 10] Games Like Ghost of Tsushima (Games Better Than Ghost of Tsushima In Their Own Way)

Gorgeous visuals, stellar soundtrack, elaborate stealth and intense combat are the cornerstones of the highly-praised Ghost of Tsushima action-adventure game. Set in 13th century Japan, a Mongal fleet is invading the island of Tsushima and Jin Sakai is the last samurai to defend his homeland. Driven by rage and vengeance, he must abandon his code of honor and resort to a “shameful” style of fighting if he hopes to liberate the island.

The game has earned many awards and overwhelmingly positive reception to become a must-play for any Playstation gamer. It is almost in a league of its own. Nonetheless, we’ve found ten great games that deliver an action experience on par with Ghost in Tsushima in their own ways. 

10. Trek to Yomi (PS4/PS5/XBO/XBS X+S/PC)

A black and white side-scrolling action game set in the Edo period of Japan, you play as a young swordsman who must fulfil his duty and protect his village from all threats. A sudden tragedy forces him to decide his own path as he ventures into the dangerous lands of Yomi. Now, he must vanquish corrupted humans and supernatural beings to redeem himself in this Akira Kurosawa inspired tale.

9. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (PS4/XBO/PC)

It's been five years since Order 66 has eradicated the Jedi Order and the Galactic Empire is now the ruling power of the galaxy. Cal Kestis is one of the last surviving Jedi who has been hiding on Bracca as a scrapper. An incident forces him to use his Jedi powers, consequently, this alerts the Empire of his presence. Cal must now trust the Force more than ever as he journeys the galaxy in the hope of rebuilding the fallen order of Jedi.

8. For Honor (PS4/XBO/PC)

For Honor is an online action fighting game set in a medieval land of five warring factions. Each faction is based on historical legions of warriors such as the Iron Legion representing knights and the Dawn Empire representing samurai and so on. There are three main types of classes to use:   

Vanguard- A well-balanced fighter with excellent offensive and defensive capabilities

Assassin- Quickest, most agile fighter of the four classes. Great duelist prowess. However, deals much less damage

Heavy- Also known as the Tank. Toughest, most damage resistant class. Great for holding objectives. Attacks are much slower

Hybrid- A fourth class that is a combination of two of the three warrior types. Possesses rare skills.

For Honor is currently in Year 6 and has a roster of 30 playable heroes with more characters confirmed for later this year. Each hero has their own unique set of weapons, armor and moves. 

7. Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition (PS4/PS5/XBO/XBS X+S/PC/AMAZON LUNA)

The first edition of Devil May Cry 5 released in 2019 to highly positive reviews regarding its intricate combat, variety and polished graphics. Dante returns along with newcomers Nero and V as the player uses each character to battle through a demon-infested London. They must stop the powerful demon that unleashed the army of demons before it’s too late for humanity.

 The release of DMC 5: Special Edition in 2020 included Vergil, a longtime favorite character of fans, as a playable character. Now, a total of four characters, each with a unique moveset and style, are available to bash through hordes of challenging demons in stylish style.

6. Samurai Warriors 5 (PS4/XBO/NIN SWIT/PC/AMAZON LUNA)

Samurai Warriors 5 is a reboot of the hack and slash Samurai Series with repolished character designs and new visuals. The story takes place in the Sengoku period as the Honno-ji Incident approaches. Mitsuhide Akechi and Nobunaga Oda are the main protagonists of this storyline. Show true samurai might as you single-handedly rip through hundreds of soldiers to duel the enemy commander for control of the region.

5. God of War (PS4/PS5/PC)

God of War is one of the highest-rated, best selling games ever on the Playstation 4. Kratos, the Ghost of Sparta, has left his home of Olympus for the Nordic realm of Midgard. With the death of his wife, he must lead his son Atreus to the tallest mountain in all of the realms to spread her ashes. Together, they must truly bond as father and son as they battle the creatures and powerful gods of Norse mythology in this action-adventure fantasy game.

4. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PS4/PS5/XBO/XBS X+S/PC/NINT SWITCH)

Geralt of Rivia, an infamous monster slayer, returns in this third installment of The Witcher, an action fantasy series based on the novels of Andrzej Sapkowski. Geralt is a master swordsman who utilizes bombs, crossbows and his two swords(a silver sword for monsters and a steel sword for humans). Along with physical attacks, Geralt can use five magical elements at command: Aard(telekinetic blast), Axii(confuse enemies), Igni(fire magic),Yrden(slows enemies), and Quen(energy shield). Combine Geralt’s physical and magical attacks against the relentless enemies he crosses during his quests.

3. Assassin’s Creed Unity (PS4/XBO/STADIA/PC)

Set in Paris during the French Revolution, a young man called Arno discovers the existence of the Templars and joins the Brotherhood to stop their villainous plot. The first few months of Assassin’s Creed Unity launch was plagued with bugs and glitches. But once all the issues were repaired, what was left is arguably the one of the best, if not the best, Assassin’s Creed game. Unity completely revamped every aspect of  Assassin’s Creed - incredible graphics, grounded combat, innovative stealth capabilities, stylish yet rapid parkour, and a new four player co-op mode. Today, AC Unity continues to receive positive acclaim and attention as an underrated gem.

2. The Nioh Collection (PS5)

The Nioh saga has been remastered and enhanced for top-notch gaming quality and performance. Experience the hardcore combat of the Nioh saga and the six expansions in gorgeous 120 frames per second. Battle hellish foes and legendary warriors of the Sengoku period without any hesitation. Ultra fast loading times brings you back into the fight almost instantly. 

1. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (PS4/XBO/STADIA/PC)

Following the turbulent Sengoku period of Japan, a wandering shinobi stumbles upon a young orphan who he names as Wolf. The shinobi raises Wolf into a mighty warrior who is tasked as the bodyguard of the Divine Heir. 

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is considered the most unique game from FromSoftware, famous for their Souls series. While the game lacks character creation and multiplayer, it does include gear upgrades, ability customization, and a skill tree. The game is also heavily focused on parrying, which can stumble an enemy’s balance and create an opening for one killing blow. As a shinobi, the game naturally includes stealth features such as insta-killing enemies from behind.
