God of War Ragnarok is without a doubt one of 2022’s most anticipated video games. The release date has been confirmed for November 9 of this year for Playstation 4 and Playstation 5. The hype is bigger than ever and fans are replaying God of War to prepare themselves for launch day. But if you've already played through God of War a few times and need something new, then check out these 15 great action games to spend hours of fun on.

15. Darksiders lll (Playstation 4/XBOX One/PC/Stadia/Nintendo Switch)

The game is set before the events of the first Darksiders game and features elements from the Metroidvania and Souls series. The Seven Deadly Sins have escaped their prison and Fury, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, has been given the tasks of hunting them down. As a mage, Fury uses magic as well as an arsenal of swords, whips and daggers. Upgrade Fury’s abilities and weapons as she travels a war-torn Earth and takes down each of Seven Deadly Sins.

14. Demon’s Soul (Playstation 5)

One of the launch titles for the Playstation 5, Demon’s Souls is a remake of the original game released in 2009 for Playstation 3. The game has retained its original essence while improving on various gameplay and technical aspects. The character creation now has more components for customization. New weapons, armor and items have been introduced to this remake as well as a photo mode for creating in-game screenshots.

9. Vikings: Wolves of Midgard (Playstation 4/XBOX One/PC)

Set in an open-world based on Norse mythology, Vikings: Wolves of Midgard is an action RPG game with mechanics quite similar to the Diablo series. The game allows you to choose the character’s appearance, gender and attributes before heading off into the dangerous, snowy terrain. Play the two types of missions: raid missions that progress the story or hunt missions where you return to completed maps to hunt down a certain number of enemies. Collect wood and iron to upgrade the village of Ulfung in order to receive new tiers of skills and equipment.

A hack and slash spin-off of the Metal Gear series, you take control of an elite cyborg called Raiden who wields a powerful katana capable of slicing through almost anything. Marius Titus is a fierce Roman centurion of an alternate Ancient Rome in this brutal hack and slash action game. The game begins in the middle of a vicious battle between Rome and an invading force of barbarians. Marius tells his life story to the Roman emperor Nero as they are in a safe place among the chaos. The combat of Ryse focuses heavily on flow to allow the player to brutally tear through enemies and transition to the next with very few interruptions. 

4. Devil May Cry 5 (Playstation 4/Playstation 5/XBOX One/XBOX Series X&S/PC/Amazon Luna)

The fast-paced combat of Devil May Cry returns and it’s better and more stylish than ever. A powerful demon king has opened a portal from hell into London and demons are devastating the city.
