Several Heroes from the Land of Dawn

Are you wondering which heroes to choose as you descend to battle in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang?

This tier list will show you the best heroes in the latest patch of this exciting MOBA.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is one of the most popular games on the mobile platform today. Developed and published by Moonton, you control a hero of your choosing to face off in 5 vs. 5 team battles to see which team can claim victory. As of August 2021, there are currently 107 heroes to choose from, and choosing the best hero in the current meta will give you a better chance of winning.

There are six roles in MLBB (marksmen, mages, assassins, fighters, tanks, and supports) which have different roles to play during the game. Picking the best hero to go with your team and adapting to your enemies is essential to winning team fights and ensuring that you’ll hear that sweet sound of the announcer shouting “Victory!”.

To keep things interesting and to change up the pick rates of the large hero pool, the meta is updated frequently—so that other heroes become stronger than others in their role. This tier list will provide you with an idea of which heroes have had great success in the current state of MLBB.

S Tierheroes in this tier are picked and banned very frequently and usually dominate in the matches

Harley (S Tier – Mage/Assassin)

Harley (Mage/Assassin)

Harley is an assassin with great movement and can deal significant damage to a single target. His kit allows him to ambush enemies and then leave unharmed. He is feared and is banned during draft picking because of his high burst damage.

Pros:

  • an effective jungler
  • extremely high burst damage
  • high mobility
  • the short cooldown on skills
  • damaging enemies decreases their magic defense

Cons:

  • skills need to be precisely aimed
  • difficult for beginners to learn
  • squishy when dash skill is on cooldown

Saber (S Tier – Assassin)

Saber (Assassin)

Saber is an assassin who specializes in killing heroes through ambushes. His ultimate ability allows him to delete heroes off the battlefield—especially when they’re alone. His high damage and his ability to greatly reduce the physical defense of enemies are why he is banned in draft picking.

Pros:

  • an effective jungler
  • high mobility
  • high damage
  • very strong early game
  • the very short cooldown on skills

Cons:

  • easy to counter with control heroes
  • relatively ineffective during team fights
  • the ultimate ability only attacks a single target

X.Borg (S Tier – Fighter)

X.Borg (Fighter)

X.Borg has been the most banned hero in July 2021, with a ban rate of 70.98%. This is due to X.Borg’s first skill that deals True Damage. True Damage ignores both physical and magic defense; because of this, his power in the early game is high. It is also quite tough to go against X.Borg when he has his armor equipped. His offensive and defensive capabilities are what make X.Borg a force to be reckoned with.

Pros:

  • is great at securing objectives because of true damage
  • great offensive and defensive capabilities
  • very strong early – mid-game
  • the ultimate ability deals huge AOE damage

Cons:

  • weak late game
  • easy to kill without his armor

Mathilda (S Tier – Support/Assassin)

Mathilda (Support/Assassin)

Mathilda can be a great support for the team as well as a lethal assassin when she initiates an ambush. Her skills allow her to deal a large amount of damage just by moving— she is especially strong in the early game. Her ability to chase heroes who are running away, tower dive, and bring her teammates along with her is what makes Mathilda a feared support.

Pros:

  • strong early game
  • great at chasing heroes and tower diving
  • gives additional movement to the team
  • high burst damage from ultimate ability

Cons:

  • less effective during team fights
  • the ultimate ability only attacks a single target
  • skill damage spreads out if there are multiple enemies

Benedetta (S Tier – Assassin)

Benedetta (Assassin)

Benedetta is an assassin with very good mobility. All her skills have a dash-damage element to them, making Benedetta the perfect pick against immobile heroes. Her skills and passive ability allow Benedetta to initiate and retreat with ease after she kills an enemy—her high damage and constant dashing make her a bother to chase around the map.

Pros:

  • strong early game
  • very high mobility
  • great at chasing and escaping
  • can clear lanes quickly

Cons:

  • skills need to be precisely aimed
  • difficult for beginners to learn

Paquito (S Tier – Fighter)

Paquito (Fighter)

Paquito is a fighter who can have his skills enhanced due to his passive; this allows Paquito to deal more damage and lower the cooldown of his skills. His kit enables him to be a constant threat throughout the game and can even beat 1-v-3 scenarios if his combos are done perfectly.

Pros:

  • consistently strong from early to late game
  • all skills can be enhanced
  • combos can deal massive damage and can wipe out multiple heroes

Cons:

  • relies heavily on combos
  • weak against ranged heroes with crowd control
  • difficult for beginners to learn

Sun (S Tier – Fighter)

Sun (Fighter)

Sun is a fighter who specializes in confusing the enemies by summoning multiple clones. The enemies’ physical defense is decreased every time Sun or his clones damage the target. Sun has the numerical advantage and thus dominates 1-v-1 situations. He is great at clearing minion waves and the jungle creeps due to his abilities.

Pros:

  • very strong mid to late game
  • very high mobility
  • can clear lanes quickly
  • great offensive capabilities

Cons:

  • squishy
  • weak against heroes with burst-crowd control skills and heroes with lifesteal

Yve (S Tier – Mage)

Yve (Mage)

Yve is a mage that specializes in slowing down the movement speed of enemies. Her ultimate ability allows her to trap enemies in a square where she can slow their movement and apply burst damage at the same time. Because of this, Yve is a great pick against immobile heroes.

Pros:

  • consistently strong from early to late game
  • high burst damage
  • great crowd control due to slow effect

Cons:

  • very low mobility
  • squishy and weak against melee heroes

Eudora (S Tier – Mage)

Eudora (Mage)

Eudora is a mage that specializes in burst damage through lightning strikes. Eudora’s kit allows her to perform one-hit combos and eliminate heroes in just a few seconds. She is great at ambushing enemies who are alone because of her ability to immobilize and inflict high damage to the target.

Pros:

  • strong early game
  • high burst damage
  • great at 1-v-1 encounters and ambushes

Cons:

  • very low mobility
  • squishy when skills are on cooldown
  • skills need to be precisely aimed

For the rest of the heroes, this tier list shows the rank of heroes according to the current meta. The tier list is based on pick rates, ban rates, and win rates of the heroes. Heroes in A+ and A Tier are picked very frequently, are often banned, and are very strong in the game.

A lot of heroes are viable and are very strong in their own ways. The most common picks for junglers in these tiers are Roger, Claude, Brody, Ling, Lancelot, and Karina. These heroes often dominate the game from early to late game.

The calculation of magic damage has been changed in the current meta. This allows the setup of multiple mages to be a good choice in a team with one handling the mid lane while the other guards the gold lane. This is evident in the tier list where a lot of mages such as Lunox, Kagura, Esmeralda, Vale, and Chang’e are found high on the list.

Heroes in A+ to C Tier

Heroes in B Tier are significantly strong in the right hands; they have relatively good win rates and are still picked often. Heroes in C Tier are not picked as much and have mostly been given nerfs in the recent patches.

Things have become very interesting in this current meta, such as Eudora now being a feared enemy and Sun having a lot more viability. Things just keep getting more interesting with every update and I look forward to what the future brings for Mobile Legends and its player base.
