10 Most Powerful Game of Thrones Characters

Powerful Game of Thrones Characters
Power is everything

If you have watched Game of Thrones at any point you know there are many characters, and you never know what is going to happen to those characters. Characters have come and gone, but there are still many left. Out of those I’m counting down my top 10 most powerful, and why I think they belong on this list.

10. Melisandre the Red Priestess

You bore me.

Melisandre may have changed who she follows and helps over the years, but one thing has remained the same; she is one powerful person. I don’t just mean by her actions either because she has something no one else on this list truly has; power.

She is a witch who has the power to raise people from the dead, use shadow demons to do her bidding, and see visions of the future. Now even with all that power I don’t think she is the most powerful, but she definitely deserves to be on the list.

9. Bran Stark

I see what’s coming.

Now with characters with actual powers Bran Stark is next on my list. With being one of the last Stark children alive Bran has gone through a lot; he lost the use of his legs in the first episode. After everything he has been through he has now become the Three Eyed Raven. This alone gives him power to see past and future events.

I’m putting Bran after Melisandre because even though they both have actual power Melisandre can lose hers, and she has, whereas Bran can’t. Now that he has become the Three Eyed Raven he has these gifts until he passes them onto the next candidate.

8. Samwell Tarly

Do I really have to read all this?

You might be wondering why I put Sam on this list with it being the Most Powerful Characters. If you look back through the series Sam may not look powerful, but he has a lot of trials that he comes out on top of. He survives the trials of the Night’s Watch to become a Watchman. He fights and lives through countless battles that others died in. Lastly, he killed a WHITE WALKER!

I said that correctly because if you think back Sam was protecting Gilly and her child when a White Walker showed up. He fought the Walker off, and finally stabbed it with his dragon glass dagger, and it disintegrated. So other than surviving many trials and battles Sam was one of the first to kill a White Walker, and lived to tell the tale. That is why he is on my list.

7. Sansa Stark

I’m no longer scared as I once was.

Out of everyone on my list I think Sansa has had some of the most brutal things happen to her over the years. She lost her father, was with Joffrey and Ramsay who beat and raped her, and endured torture we can only imagine. Even after all that she survived it all, and was reunited with most of her family. She helped Jon get their home back, and was put in charge after he left.

Sansa started out as a bratty teenager to grow into a powerful woman who doesn’t take anything from anyone. She stands her ground, and is no longer scared to fight for herself.

6. Jaime Lannister

What did I just witness?

In the beginning I hated Jamie for many reasons; he hurt Bran, he was just a plain jerk, and he was sleeping with his sister. That was weird and creepy to me, and it turned me off. It all changed after he got captured with Brienne. They started to bond, and he showed his human side. Now Jaime is powerful because he has been through so much, and has come out the other side still willing to fight.

He was captured, tortured, lost his hand, and his children were killed. Through all of this he still fights for his family; even when they betray him. He knows how to survive, and he uses those instincts however he can.

5. Cersei Lannister

Look who’s Queen now.

Right off the bat I didn’t like Cersei, and I never will. She is pure human evil, and just plain crazy. I wasn’t surprised at all that all her children died, or ended up crazy like her. I may not like Cersei, but I can’t deny how powerful of a character she really is.

She has been underestimated the entire series, and using that she has become queen of the Seven Kingdoms. She killed many people to obtain this power, but she obtained it none the less. She might be evil, crazy, and just nuts in general, but she definitely isn’t stupid. She used all of that to gain what she always wanted, the crown.

4. Tyrion Lannister

Goodbye.

Tyrion is by far my favorite Lannister for a few reasons. He has survived almost as much as Cersei because he is a dwarf, and just like Cersei people underestimated him. Through all of his trials, both figuratively and literally, he has come out on top. He may not be king, but he is the Hand to Queen Dany. He has a lot of influence over many people no matter his size. Tyrion might be small, but he has done great things, and has survived everything thrown at him.

3. Daenerys Targaryen

You better bend the knee.

In the beginning, Dany didn’t seem all that powerful; she was an heir to a throne, and she was sold into a marriage by her brother. Not really the makings of a powerful character, but that changes very quickly. By the very end of season one she rules the Dothraki, and she just hatched three baby dragons. We now have a person who has people loyal to her to a fault, and three dragons that will keep getting bigger. Fast forward to last season, and she is by far deserving to be in the top 3 of my list.

Dany now has a massive army, the allegiance of Jon and the north, and the support of most of the world against a common enemy, the White Walkers. I would say that is pretty powerful compared to being sold by her brother at the beginning.

2. Jon Snow

Bring it on!

Jon has always been the best character in the series by far. He just commands loyalty, and the people around him want to give it. He has been through many trials, and I think the most out of everyone. He has fought countless battles, both on the field and in house, and has only been defeated once. He always does what is right even if he has to pay the price. He has killed many creatures, and he won’t stop until the White Walkers are all gone.

Jon has his beliefs, and he will do what is necessary to protect those beliefs. He may not know his true lineage, but that doesn’t stop him from fighting for the people he cares for. Jon rose from the dead, and he won’t go down again without the most epic fight of his life. He is powerful because after everything he doesn’t stop doing the right thing, and fighting if necessary.

1. Arya Stark

Revenge sweet revenge.

Arya Stark is without a doubt the most powerful character on Game of Thrones. She started as a girl who wanted to fight, and became an assassin who can become anyone she wants. She still loves her family, but she has no remorse, and will now kill anyone who gets in her way. She is powerful because unlike Cersei who craves the power, and will do anything for it, Arya doesn’t want the power. She won’t kill for power; Arya kills for a specific reason that affects her, or her family.

She will kill you if you harmed her or her family in any way. If you haven’t done that then she won’t hurt you in the slightest. In the end, Arya Stark is the most powerful Game of Thrones character because she has power, but she didn’t try to obtain it like Cersei.

Well this is my list, and my opinion. What is your list? Who do you think are the most powerful characters?
