[Top 10] MTG Arena Most Fun Decks

MTG Arena Most Fun Decks
It's all fun and games until you face the same deck over and over again

MTGA is a highly competitive game that relies heavily on strategy, some luck, and great game sense. This presents the need to evaluate the meta of whatever format you are playing on. Because of the meta, some players face restrictions on what decks to play since non-meta decks may perform poorly on ranked matchmaking. However, I created this list to present players with decks that are both fun and still highly competitive. Some meta decks are present in this list but I only included those with fun and unique interactions.

Chandra Tribal

What’s good about this deck?

  • A fun new spin to mono-red aggro
  • You can ramp into other Chandra’s to create more devastating damage
    • With Chandra’s Regulator, you can double the effects of each Chandra planeswalker

How to play this deck effectively

  • The main key to winning with this deck is to get your Chandra’s on curve
    • Getting the right amount of mana allows you to ramp towards other Chandra’s
    • This can help you dish out huge amounts of damage with multiple activations of each Chandra
  • With Chandra, Acolyte of Flame’s ability, you can easily regain loyalty counters lost from your planeswalkers
    • This is important to keep them on board, as well as present a threat with the Heart of Kiran activation

    • Putting creatures in your graveyard will fuel GPG, allowing more choices of creatures to bring back
    • Putting GPG on your graveyard will help cast it earlier with Refurbish and Gate to the Afterlife

  • This is still a good go-to deck if you want to climb in the rankings

How to play this deck effectively

  • Make sure you have played on each of your first few turns
    • Missing one turn due to either lack of mana or lack of material to play can quickly derail your chances of winning
  • You need to rely on good top decks especially if the game extends to the mid- to late-game

  • There are a lot of cards to give you both mana and card advantage
  • Very quiet in the early game but can pull off surprise threats

How to play this deck effectively

  • There’s not much that I can say here since you will focus mainly on ramping in the early game, casting whatever threat you have on your hand, and holding off attacks until you cast an Ugin or an Ulamog

  • Tried and tested deck in the meta
  • Utilizes flash, allowing you to cast your creatures on the opponent’s turn
    • Very useful since you are less likely to tap out during your turn, allowing you open mana for counterspells if needed

How to play this deck effectively

  • Hit your opponent’s deck early
    • This can give you a huge advantage as it fills up their graveyard and at the same time disrupts their strategy even before they see it
  • Early game aggression is the key to winning with this deck
    • Although your creatures will benefit from the massive pile on the opponent’s graveyard, you should already start pressuring their life total early

Bruvac Mill

  • Mill damages your opponent’s game plan before they even draw into it
  • Once the engine starts, it is difficult to stop
    • It relies on a few combo pieces so stopping it would involve taking out multiple threats immediately

    • Play your Fabled Passage when Ruin Crab is on the board to double its effect

Cycling

What’s good about this deck?

  • Very cheap deck for budget gaming
  • Cycling effects are not susceptible to counterspells
    • Getting card advantage, thinning the deck, and fueling the graveyard can be achieved by cycling cards

How to play this deck effectively

  • The only creatures you will cast are Flourishing Fox and Drannith Stinger, all other creatures are for cycling
    • Splendor Mare is useful when you are up against aggressive creature decks as it can give lifelink to your Fox or Stinger
    • Yidaro should never be hard cast since that would just be inefficient
  • Reptillian Reflection is a good surprise card since not a lot of decks play around it

What’s good about this deck?

  • Good counter against mill decks
    • The extra 20 cards can be a huge lifeline when against rogues and other mill decks
  • Great at board wipes
    • Against the current meta, this deck is still powerful with its abundance of removal and board wipes

How to play this deck effectively

  • Use your board wipes to protect yourself from early threats
    • This deck is great in the late game so the early game should be focused on card draw and threat removal
