In a show filled with truly fantastic villains, it takes a lot to stand out. What about One Punch Man villains makes them so great? What unique qualities make them so interesting? Don’t you worry your pretty little heads about it, because we are gonna discover these answers together.

10. Dr. Genus

Dr. Genus scheming

(Dr. Genus Scheming)

Those stupid apes! Acting like I'm weird! "Dangerous ideas"? Don't give me that crap! Do they honestly believe that humans came this far by avoiding all that seems dangerous? This is the first line we hear from the arrogant Dr. Genus. An extremely intelligent scientist who found a way to create a youth serum and clone himself.. The founder of the house of evolution he cares for only his experiments and theories. When he finds out that Saitama and Genos killed the creations that he sent after them he becomes desperate and releases his ultimate experiment.

What makes Dr. Genus great:

  • He created many interesting villains and even some heroes in One Punch Man.
  • Is extremely interested in Saitama’s unusual power and wants to experiment with him. Uses every resource at his disposal to try to make this happen.
  • When he sees Saitama destroy Carnage Kabuto he discards his obsession over forced evolution and adopts Saitama’s belief. Believing that humans can change themselves he opens a takoyaki shop with his creation Armored Gorilla.

9. Carnage Kabuto

Carnage Kabuto in carnage mode

(Carnage Kabuto in carnage mode)

We are first introduced to Carnage Kabuto when he is killing Dr. Genus’s clones as they try to release him. Hoping to have him capture Saitama for him Dr. genus approaches  Kabuto himself asking for the favor. Carnage Kabuto laughs at him explaining to him how he is superior to all humans and that he believes they should all bow to his will. After Genus tells him how powerful Saitama is he becomes very excited and rushes to find his opponent, dragging the doctor behind him

What makes Carnage Kabuto great:

  • When he first finds our heroes he asks which hero is the one the doctor wants to capture, and after being told Kabuto says,” Then you don’t need the other one”, and slams Genos into a wall with an awesome back fist.
  • He tanks all of Genos’s fire attacks and machine gun blows just to punch straight through them and send Genos flying. Then he blows away one of Genos blasts with nothing more than his breath.
  • After becoming enraged with Saitama for scaring him with his strength and believing that our hero is hiding his secret to power he transforms. His Carnage Kabuto mode is quite impressive. Boasting a new awesome look and a giant horn.

8. Deep Sea King

Deep Sea King Transformed

(Deep Sea King transformed)

Deep Sea King is first introduced after the hero Stinger kills his underlings in the sea monster arc. He defeats Stinger in one hit. In his very next scene, he dominates another hero called lightning Maxx as he continues his march through city-J. He comes across an S-class hero next by the name of Puri-Puri prisoner and after a short fight where the hero seems like a match for him Deep Sea King shows he was just messing around and defeats him. He is seemingly unstoppable.

What makes Deep Sea King great:

  • Even though he is a terrifying monster with incredible power he has a very regal and posh voice that’s quite funny coming from his towering frame.
  • During his fight with speed-of-sound Sonic, it begins to rain and he transforms from his dry form gaining even more speed and strength. As well as becoming more monster-like.
  • Deep Sea King’s fight with Genos is the shining highlight of this arc. After he takes a hard blow from Genos where he was believed to be defeated he pops back up immediately and rips off Geno’s arm.

7. Speed-Of-Sound Sonic

Speed of sound sonic ready to strike

(Speed-Of-Sound Sonic ready to strike)

Speed-Of-Sound Sonic is first introduced when a group of criminals called the paradisers come to attack the man that he is under contract to protect. Sonic loves a good fight and gets hopeful that the leader of the paradisers, a b-level criminal named hammerhead, might pose a challenge to him. When he meets them he offers them a chance to surrender but with their new battle armors, they’re sure they can take him. Sonic seems almost gleeful when they charge him.

What makes Speed-Of-Sound Sonic great:

  • First and foremost just like his name suggests his speed is incredible and only matched by his want to test his abilities on a worthy challenge. After cutting all the heads off of the paradisers all that was left was Hammerhead himself.
  • During his fights, you get to see him display his amazing agility. Against Hammerhead, he dodges many thrown boulders and the very powerful Deep Sea King is unable to touch him.
  • What truly makes Sonic shine is his personality. His love of battle. His cocky nature with the ability to back it up. He wants to prove to any opponent that he is the best. These are the things that make him a great villain.

6. Elder Centipede

Elder Centipede towering over the city

(Elder Centipede towering over the city)

Elder centipede is an ancient monster with an incredibly intimidating presence. He was different in size as well as attitude from his smaller counterparts. After junior and senior centipede are destroyed by Metal Bat Elder centipede shows up and completely overpowers him. This was his first appearance where he ends up leaving with his smaller parts. He later shows up with Phoenix Man on a mission to save Garou.

What's great about Elder Centipede:

  • The first thing that you notice about this incredibly powerful monster is his sheer size and strength. His shell is very durable allowing him to tank most attacks while taking no damage.
  • He has an interesting ability that is shown after blast and bang blow his body to pieces. He just regenerates immediately, restoring all of his damaged body.
  • His fights with the various heroes that challenge him are amazing because you get to see them go all out against something that just keeps taking everything they can give.

5. OverGrown Rover

Overgrown Rover bearing down on his prey

(OverGrown Rover bearing down on his prey)

OverGrown Rover is a bit of a weird choice for this list because he isn’t necessarily evil but rather he is just the guard dog of the evil Monster Association. His job is to guard their HQ. His first appearance is when Garou and Tareo escape the facility but don't actually attack them until Garou sends another monster flying back in his direction. Hearing a roar coming from him and seeing the monster's head bouncing back toward him Garou runs.

What’s great about OverGrown Rover:

  • His fearsome presence is a major factor in his overall awesomeness. He has far more power than his position as guard dog would lead you to believe.
  • Seeing him dominate Garou in battle was truly impressive. The way he just shrugged off any attack the hero hunter threw at him just to fling him around like a toy blasting him with energy spheres was a stunning sign of his power.
  • After coming across Saitama in the HQ he tries to attack him to no effect. Our hero remarks on Rover's lack of training before punching him into submission. After all is said and done he ends up becoming Saitama’s pet which was rather cute.

4.Psykos

Psykos flexing her telekinesis powers

(Psykos flexing her telekinesis)

First appearing as her meat puppet Gyoro Gyoro, the powerful esper Psykos is one of the two leaders of the monster association. Alongside Monster King Orochi she manipulates and schemes for the monster association. She has a unique power for stimulated growth in humans causing them to become exceptionally powerful monsters. Psykos is the reason that Orochi became as powerful as he did. She has very powerful telekinesis as well as being very intelligent. She is constantly testing the members of the association's powers by putting them in bad situations just to get data.

What's great about Psykos:

  • Her manipulation of the entire monster association, always pulling strings gives her the feel of a behind-the-scenes mastermind.
  • She has a multitude of powers such as the ability to manipulate gravity and using it in a variety of ways. As well as the power to fire energy projections from her eyes for devastating results.
  • Her eventual fusion with Orochi where they are both continually battling over control of their consciousness is very thrilling.

3. Monster King Orochi

Monster King Orochi in all of his glory

(Monster King Orochi in all of his glory)

The other leader of the Monster Association,Orochi had earned his place. Through his sheer immense power, he holds all the other monsters of the association in check. Being one of the most over-powered beings in One Punch Man, Monster King Orochi is almost unstoppable, only able to be challenged by a few powerful characters in the show.

What's great about Monster King Orochi:

  • Monster King Orochi has a crazy body, it’s made up of many dragons wrapped around the same way a human's muscles are. All of these dragons can spew fire at incredible speeds.
  • He also has the ability to control his body's shape at will with his metamorphosis. Switching between a humanoid-like form and a Squirming mass of dragons. He can also regenerate after being destroyed.
  • Orochi is so powerful he was able to come back from Saitama destroying him which is an insane feat for this show.

2.Boros

Boros in his armor and after his armor

(Boros in his armor/Boros after armor)

Boros was an exceptional warrior who could find no equal, much like our hero Saitama. Twenty years prior to him showing up on earth he was told by a seer that one day he would come across a warrior who could battle him toe-to-toe. Wanting nothing more than a good challenge he roamed the Universe searching for this fabled fight. He was the leader of the dark-matter thieves who invaded A-city destroying 99 percent of it in a bombardment that brought Saitama to his Spaceship.

What makes Boros great:

  • Boros is one of the few monsters in the series that was able to survive being hit by Saitama. This was seen after our hero punched him through a pillar for destroying the city.
  • One amazing thing about Boros is that in all his battles he wore armor which was actually used to restrain his immense power instead of to protect him. He hit Saitama so hard he flew to the moon.
  • With the ability to regenerate as well as survive Saitama's regular punch he was a good opponent. His fight with our hero is still one of the flashiest and most entertaining in the series.

1.Garou

Garou attacking

(Garou attacking)

Garou is a truly interesting villain. He is known as the hero hunter/the human monster and has a particular hatred for heroes. He has always had a fascination with monsters even from a young age believing that it was sad that they always lost against the more popular heroes. He is the former star pupil of the extremely powerful hero Bang but was kicked out due to him going on a rampage.

What makes Garou great:

  • His mindset of wanting to always challenge himself to become stronger as well as to always keep fighting to find a way to win is a lot like a protagonist from most other anime.
  • Using not only his super strength, endurance, and speed but also his incredible willpower he overcomes his odds again and again. Hoping one day to evolve enough to become a true monster.
  • He is more complex than just being evil though as he is seen many times doing things out of honor like protecting a child from a barrage of bullets that came from the hero Death Gatling. He follows his own code and can be an enemy of the heroes or the villains.
