5. NieR: Automata

NieR: Automata gameplay

This game is crazy and unique among RPGs as a hack and slash and shooter hyrbrid. The post-apocalyptic art style is just enchanting if not eerie with a gorgeous soundtrack.

Nevermind the simple story: your mission is to find the truth in the most convoluted JRPG-style imaginable. However, the game rocks. You play as a sexy and scantily-clad ninja warrior with white hair.

The combat is very fast-paced and intense and super exciting with lots weapon types and opportunities for tactical combos in some fantastic high-tech environments, and you’ll also find yourself jumping around an abandoned amusement park.

NiER: Automata is just fun, high-octane, and suitable for the mature RPG gamer who wants to focus on combat and gameplay rather than story.

NieR: Automata has enough insanely-ridiculously-huge sword-wielding goodness to make Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud Strife feel bashful.

Wouldn’t be a futuristic JRPG without at least one mech soldier.
