What Elder Scrolls VI Needs To Do To Satisfy Fans

Skyrim 2, Elder Scrolls 6, Will Elder Scrolls 6 be good

Many fans have not been impressed by Bethesda’s recent games, leaving many to anticipate future releases, such as Elder Scrolls VI, to satisfy them. Here’s what Bethesda needs to do to make Elder Scrolls VI a good, enjoyable game for their fans.

New Intro

From the summerset DLC for Elder Scrolls Online, a beautiful city is built. Imagine what the next game can do.

In all Elder Scroll games, we’ve started as a prisoner. It makes total sense. We have no background and get to escape into a world to do what we please. But sadly, it is a bit repetitive.

So, Bethesda should look into something new to do with their intro format. We could carry out an escape plan from our prison, or be a prisoner of politics, left in isolation on a remote island. In reality, though, any kind of change to Elder Scrolls VI’s intro story would add a lot more immersion and spice up the series overall.

Variety in Factions

Some people theorize that Elder Scrolls VI could take place in Argonia.

The Elder Scrolls is known for its many factions, but some, such as the Imperials and Stormcloaks from Skyrim, consist of almost the same structure and generally lack variety.

In Elder Scrolls VI, we should see different quest lines for each faction, each having a unique style of gameplay.

In Fallout 4, for example, the Brotherhood, Minutemen, and Institute all have their own, unique quests and functions. In Skyrim on the other hand, the Stormcloaks and Imperials have extremely similar quests and battles, just changing which uniform you fight with.

Better Sneak System

Sneak in Skrim is notorious for being overpowered.

In Skyrim, the sneak system was outrageously overpowered. You could shoot an arrow at someone and ten seconds later they’d deem it as “just the wind.” Elder Scrolls VI should fix this system, and add new stealth features to boost immersion and excitement.

Some fans have an idea of what to change to fix sneaking. From the Elder Scrolls Forum website, user “War” came up with a sneak system similar to the game “Thief,” with climbing through chimneys, scaling cliff-faces, and other sneak movements. He also recommends a system where enemies recognize arrows rather than only recognizing the sound, eliminating the problems with Skyrim’s archery in stealth.

Return of the Dwemer

A Dwemer ruin from Skyrim. Could we see more of this?

Whether or not the Dwemer should be a playable race is debated by many fans, but most can agree it would be interesting to see more information on them. Whether that be interacting with the Dwemer or just getting more information on their disappearance, giving more information would make for an interesting story.

In reintroducing the Dwemer, Bethesda should also add an interesting quest line about them. An idea for this could be helping someone find the Dwemer, or even helping the Dwemer themselves.

Better Combat

If you like mushrooms, you'll love this scenery from Elder Scrolls Online.

One of the biggest flaws in Elder Scrolls is the janky, uneventful combat system. In every way, fighting in Elder Scrolls feels like continuously clicking a button until your enemy is dead.

Elder Scrolls VI should work on its combat, making it more immersive and fun. Even something small like staggering after being hit with a mace, or winding up for a power slash with a sword would vastly improve the immersion of the game’s combat.

In many ways, Elder Scrolls VI should take combat ideas from Fallout. Fallout has a limb breaking system, movement while fighting, and overall better combat mechanics and immersion.  Elder Scrolls VI should combine combat movements used in Fallout and make it into its own unique medieval fighting experience.
