Link's Awakening - Remastered

As you likely know, Link's Awakening was recently remastered and released on the Switch. I've been playing Breath of the Wild for myself off and on since it came out, and in the past few months with my five year old son. When the opportunity to play Link's Awakening arose, I figured it would be an easy game for my son to play with minimal involvement from me. Mostly, that was correct, but I've been surprised and pleased with my experience as he's requested my help in playing through the trickier parts of Link's Awakening. To be honest, the original is so far back in the memory vaults that I have no advantages playing it. But I have found that the remastered graphics and gameplay are really enjoyable, both on the smaller screen of the Switch and when played on my TV. Trying to compare Awakening with Breath of the Wild is a waste of time. They are different games, created differently with purpose, and only loosely connected by a common themes. What I really appreciate about the remastered Link's Awakening is the fact that the producers of this project didn't try to add a whole bunch of new features. This is the game my brothers and I played as kids. And now I can share that experience (in color and on a big screen - so he's already got it way better than I had it) with my son. Like restoration experts in a museum setting, the team behind the remastered Link's Awakening has created more enjoyable to play in every way without altering the essence of the original game. If you've got a Switch and a kid, I encourage you to share this game with them. It'll be a walk down memory lane for some of you, and for others, you'll enjoy discovering one of the classics together. Hmr
