Emily sheds a happy tear at how geek culture has evolved so much over the decades! From the first cosplay in 1931 to Superman's debut in 1938, to the rise of the zombie genre in 1968. We've grown from the outcasts to the mainstream! Watching the geek world rise from the stereotypical losers to the people that practically run the pop culture world brings me such joy, and she wants to share it with you!
Since Emily entered the geek community in her younger years, she's always wanted her voice heard. She started doing videos from her garage, then writing anime reviews for her high school newspaper. Like many, she started with Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh on Saturday mornings and began developing a passion for all things nerdy. From there, she delved deep into the world of weird, crazy, and downright bizarre.
Growing up, she watched her siblings play on the Nintendo 64. She watched her brother and friends play WWF No Mercy, and eventually inherited her brother's console as her own at age 8 and grew up playing Super Mario 64 and Harvest Moon, her favorite games. The following year, she received her Playstation 2 for Christmas and a Nintendo DS and began playing games like Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Pokemon: Diamond, Spyro, and Kingdom Hearts, to name a few of her favorites
Emily began writing fanfictions about her favorite anime and games, and from there began making youtube videos about her favorite games. From there, she found that writing her feelings about games was much easier than verbally expressing her love for them. She started writing for her high school newspaper, writing reviews about games, good or bad. She found love in the journalism field and pursued it as a major in college.
Being about to bring her words to life with her love for video games and seeing the community grow over the course of her life leaves Emily with a form of happiness that can only be described by the satisfaction of hitting your least favorite Disney villain with an over-sized key.
When Emily isn't playing video games, she's usually either watching anime or indulging in horror. Her favorite works are that of Naoko Takeuchi, Junji Ito, and Wes Craven
