The Long and Bloody History of Jason Voorhees
Contrary to what many people believe, Jason was not the star of the first Friday the 13th movie. It is true that the 1980 film set the stage for the first movie. The basic premise of the plot is the camp counselors at Camp Crystal Lake being killed off using various sharp weapons. However, at the end of the movie it is revealed that Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother, is the murderer. Clearly driven mad by the death of her son, she believes she is hearing the voice of young Jason telling her to kill them all. The film ends with one of the few remaining survivors beheading Pamela with an axe.
The not-quite-dead Jason witnesses his mother’s death and comes back in Friday the 13th Part 2 to finish what his mother started. It wasn’t even until Part 3 that Jason acquired the hockey mask which would become his signature look for the rest of the series.
The Friday the 13th Game pays homage to the first movie through the narration in the game’s trailer. In it the voice of Pamela Voorhees introduces the players to the star of the show, her son Jason.

Jason Voorhees would go on to be the main villain in eleven movies, including Freddy VS Jason in which he faces off against fellow horror icon Freddy Krueger. He is big, he is bad, and as Freddy found out he is nearly impossible to kill. Nothing gets between Jason Voorhees and his love of murder, not even the master of nightmares.

Horror fans everywhere are holding their breath in anticipation for a new survival horror video game slated for release this October 2016. Based off the popular Friday the 13th franchise, Randy Greenback and Gun Media have created a Kickstarter to fund an all new game featuring our favorite slasher Jason Voorhees. Friday the 13th the video game will be available for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
Here are just a few reasons to go to the Kickstarter and preorder your copy today.
1. Gameplay
It is a seven-against-one fight for survival.
For the first time ever, play as Jason Voorhees! This upcoming Friday the 13th game is a third person survival horror game in which players can choose to be one of the teen counselors or mass murderer Jason Voorhees. You and six other unlucky souls will do everything possible to survive the night as you are stalked by the machete wielding madman himself.
In order for Jason to win the game he must seek out and slaughter the other seven players before the time is up. Likewise, each of the seven counselors must seek a means of escape or hide until help arrives. The last one alive at the end of the night is the winner.

2. How Will Your Survive?
Will you end up as just another casualty in a horror movie?
The entire focus of the Friday the 13th game is the online multiplayer. Players who are counselors must use ingenuity to stealthily avoid the masked murderer. Work together as a team to find a means of escape, but be careful how you make alliances. Not every counselor has to survive the night in order to win the game. Sometimes it will not be possible to save the entire group. For instance, a boat can be repaired and used to escape, but it may only be capable of carrying four players to safety.
Don’t worry, camp counselors so have a small fighting chance. If you are brave enough, you can team up to take Jason down. It won’t be easy though, and like the movies he will not stay down forever. Just remember that nothing is ever certain, and nothing is ever safe!

3. Play as Jason Voorhees!
Now you can play as the horror legend.
The upcoming Friday the 13th game gives us our first ever opportunity to step into the shoes of the infamous Jason Voorhees. Stalk and terrorize the camp counselors as you see fit! Use the classic machete, or find new and innovative ways to kill your prey. Remember, Jason is a man of opportunity, so keep an eye out for objects in the environment that can be used for particularly messy kills.
You can even unlock new skins for our favorite masked murderer! Unlock new and classic looks that will strike terror in the hearts of the poor unfortunate counselors.

4. Camp Crystal Lake in All its Glory!
There is a reason they nicknamed this place Camp Blood.
Mirroring the Camp Crystal Lake from the original Friday the 13th Series, players must survive a night in the woods. This setting even comes complete with a crazed serial killer waiting to murder the counselors in the shadows.
If you are the player fortunate to be the hunter and not the hunted, you will want to pay close attention to your surroundings. Certain areas and objects will offer Jason Voorhees the opportunity to do a particularly blood cinematic kill. This game promises that these scripted kills will be spectacular, and they will show up in the end game highlight reel. Camp Crystal Lake is Jason’s playground, and it is full of opportunity.

6. Kane Hodder
The real man behind the mask.
Who is better suited to handle the Jason mocap than one of the actors to portray him in the series? Actor and stunt man Kane Hodder played Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th VII: The New Blood, Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, and Jason X. Kane is lending his acting skills and likeness for the animation of our favorite villain. Executive game creator Randy estimated that they were able to film over 400 different motion capture kills performed by Kane.
