25. Goku vs The Prince of All Saiyans, Vegeta Part 1
Goku and Vegeta have a standoff.
After arriving at the battle too late to save his friends, Goku faces off against the men responsible. He was able to take down one of them responsible for his friends' deaths with ease, and now he faces off against the Prince of All Saiyans, Vegeta. Not wanting to destroy his friends' bodies, Goku suggests that they take this battle somewhere else. The two combatants arrive at a barren wasteland devoid of all life. Before the fight begins, Vegeta offers Goku the opportunity to stand by his side and help rule the earth. But Goku declines the offer, and the battle begins.
If we’re going to talk about the best fight scenes in DBZ, we have to mention the first fight between Goku and Vegeta. This fight was the first real test for Goku since being wished back to life. And this was one of the best fights in the earlier stages of DBZ. We were able to see what an elite Saiyan fights like and how someone like Goku stacks up against him. And this fight did not disappoint. It had everything you would imagine a fight of this magnitude of having.
Goku and Vegeta stare at each other preparing to battle.
24. Goku vs the body changer Captain Ginyu
Goku and Captain Ginyu are fighting.
Goku had just destroyed the Ginyu Force on his own. He defeated two of the strongest members of the group with one hit. Hearing this, the leader of the Ginyu Force, Captain Ginyu, heads over to Goku’s location. Ginyu gets a sneak attack on Goku after Vegeta ditches Goku. Once Goku was able to recover from the first hit, the fight began between the two of them.
The Ginyu Force was Frieza’s most elite group of warriors. And to take down two of the strongest members of the Ginyu force with one hit was incredible. But now we get to see how strong the leader of the Ginyu Force was. And the fight did not disappoint. Both combatants were evenly matched, and Ginyu forced Goku to not only power up but also forced him to use the kaioken. Something that Burter or Recoome was unable to do.
Captain Ginyu blocks Goku’s spinning heel kick.
23. Fused Piccolo vs Second Form Frieza
Piccolo charges at Frieza.
After being wished back to life by the Namekian dragon balls and brought to Planet Namek, Piccolo heads off towards the battlefield to face Frieza. On his way there, he meets an injured Namekian named Nail. With his last remaining strength, Nail fuses with Piccolo to give him the power boost that Piccolo needs to face Frieza. A newly fused Piccolo charges onto the battlefield. There he meets Second-Form Frieza. And the battle begins. Piccolo was able to outmatch and withstand the might of Frieza. And gave him a beating that Frieza will never forget.
The fight itself makes this scene great. You have someone who can match one of Frieza’s powerful forms and be able to outclass him. Piccolo has been one of the strongest members of the group, and to have him outpower Frieza was a beautiful sight to see. Frieza’s second form destroyed Vegeta, someone who was on the same level as Goku. And for someone like Piccolo to come in and put the whooping on Frieza was beautiful.
Piccolo and Second form Frieza stare each other down.
22. Goku vs Frieza. The Birth of a Myth.
Goku vanishes from Frieza’s attack.
Goku arrives on the battlefield after spending hours in the healing chamber on Frieza’s ship. Frieza, in his final form, notices a new warrior entering the battlefield. After burying a dead Vegeta, Goku, and Frieza prepare for battle. In the beginning, they were pretty evenly matched with one another. But Frieza was able to get the upper hand on Goku after he increased his power. Seeing no other way to beat him, Goku prepares his final move, the spirit bomb. Goku launches the spirit bomb at Frieza, thus temporarily ending the fight. That was until Frieza returned injured and worse than before. Frieza then takes out Piccolo and kills Krillin. Those two things set something off in Goku, and he transforms into a Super Saiyan. And the myth was born.
The matchup between Goku and Frieza was something we fans were waiting for ever since Goku arrived on Planet Namek. And it did not disappoint in the slightest. We were able to see the two strongest warriors of their race going against each other. In this fight, we get to see why Frieza is feared by everyone. In the final act of the fight, we finally witnessed the birth of the Super Saiyan myth. Something that was introduced in the middle of the arc numerous times. That in itself makes this fight one of the best fights in DBZ.
Super Saiyan Goku and 100% final form Frieza clash.
21. The Best Female Fighter vs The Prince of All Saiyans
Android 18 accepted Vegeta’s challenge.
Trunks’ fear has come to fruition as the Androids that he warned the Z-fighters about are born. Android 17 and 18 are here. Not heading where Trunks is warning about not facing, Vegeta goes and challenges one of the Androids to a fight. Android 18 accepts his challenge and the two clash. It seemed that Android 18 and Vegeta were evenly matched, but as the match continued, Vegeta started getting more and more tired. While Android 18 hasn’t even broken a sweat yet, because of this, Android 18 was able to get the edge over Vegeta.
This fight has shown that there are levels to it. Since the Frieza Saga, the Super Saiyan transformation has been considered the strongest a Saiyan can reach. But the Androids have shown us that is not the case. Even in his super Saiyan form, Vegeta was unable to beat Android 18, and she outclassed him in every category.
Android 18 punches Vegeta in the face knocking him down to the ground.
20. Super Piccolo vs Android 17
Piccolo is powering up.
The Androids have arrived at Kame’s house looking for Goku but were instead met by Piccolo, Tien, Yamacha, and Krillin. Piccolo and the Androids move to another island to fight Android 17. Android 17 tells Piccolo to give up, believing that Piccolo is no match for him. But Piccolo proved him wrong by powering up and charging right at 17.
It has been a while since we last saw Piccolo fight anyone. And it was refreshing to see him face off against Android 17. Super Piccolo is the fusion of Piccolo and Kami. And with this new power-up, Piccolo was able to match Android 17 blow for blow. He even had 17 on the ropes for a bit. This was one of Piccolo's best fights because we got to see him go toe to toe with an opponent that knows everything about him and his moves.
A fully powered Piccolo punches Android 17 in the face.
19. The Perfect Being is Here
Vegeta landed in front of Perfect Cell, mocking him.
After completely absorbing Android 18, Cell has reached his perfect form. To test his strength, he knocks out Krillin with one kick. Vegeta smirks at seeing this and states that Cell should not compare him to some small fry like Krillin. Perfect Cell doesn’t say anything and just smiles. Vegeta charges at Perfect Cell just like last time, but unlike before, Cell can block his punch. Vegeta threw everything at the monster, but nothing worked. Until Vegeta had to use his finishing move, the Final Flash, to end things. And that did nothing to Cell; he just regenerated completely.
One thing I liked about this scene is that once Cell achieved his perfect form, he was unstoppable. This man toyed with Vegeta; everything that Vegeta threw at him did not affect Cell. When it was finally Cell’s turn to attack, he ended the fight quickly with two shots. Knocking Vegeta out completely.
Perfect Cell Knocks Out Vegeta.
18. Trunks vs Perfect Cell
Super Trunks and Perfect Cell stared down at each other.
Trunks power up in Super Trunks to take down Perfect Cell. Sensing a newfound opponent, Cell turns his attention from the knocked-out Vegeta to his son Trunks. Trunks doesn’t get serious until his father is out of harm's way. Once Krillin took Vegeta to safety, the true fight could begin. Super Trunks was able to go blow for blow with Perfect Cell throughout the entire fight. Well, that’s what we thought until it was proven by Cell that he was only playing with Trunks and didn't take the fight seriously.
The fight was great, and it was a perfect way for us to see how much Trunks had improved during his time in the chamber. It’s just something about Cell toying with his opponents that made the fight entertaining for me. It shows how powerful Perfect Cell truly is, and it is going to take more than a simple power-up to take him down.
A Test of Strength Between Trunks and Cell.
17. Super Saiyan Goku vs Perfect Cell
Goku faces off against Cell.
Goku had just entered the ring to face off against Cell. It was a high-scoring affair filled with strong attacks and mind tricks. We got to see the extent of Cell’s creation, using some of Goku’s moves to fight Goku. Cell even used some of his friends’ moves as well. But Goku was able to go with Cell and keep the fight interesting. Toward the end of the fight, we got to see Goku pull out one of his best moves so far in the show. Instant Transmission Kamehameha.
The stakes that came with the fight and the two people fighting in this fight are what made this fight great. You had Cell, who had the cells of every single warrior that has appeared on earth. From Goku and his friends to Frieza Cell was the perfect opponent for Goku.
Goku and Cell clash in the air.
16. Super Saiyan 2 Gohan vs Cell
Gohan and Cell have a stare-down.
After Gohan transformed into his Super Saiyan 2 form, he took down all of the Cell Juniors with one hit. Then he turned his attention to Cell, and the fight had begun. Gohan gave Cell a taste of his own medicine and beat the breaks off this man. Perfect Cell was outmatched and outclassed. Gohan took his mannequin.
The entire fight itself was just perfect. It was Gohan’s time to shine, and boy, he did not disappoint. This man toyed with Cell and had this man begging for mercy. Gohan’s arrogance did get in the way at one point, and that allowed Cell to end this with one final attempt. But what made this fight even more special was the reunion of father and son at the end.
Gohan Punches Cell in the Gut.
15. Kid Trunks vs Goten
Goten faces Trunks in the final round of the Junior Martial Arts Tournament.
It has been seven years since Gohan defeated Cell. And now the group prepares to compete in the World’s Martial Arts Tournament. Goten and Trunks both wiped out their competition before facing off against each other in the finals. It was time for the future generation to put on a show. The fight was very competitive, and that was everything you could expect from the sons of the two strongest Saiyan warriors. In the end, Trunks cheated to win.
This fight was everything you expected from the sons of Goku and Vegeta. The two boys put on a show. They excited the crowd and even shocked some of them. In a few instances, Goten was able to get the edge over Trunks, and it seemed like he was going to win. But since Trunks is Vegeta’s son, he will cheat to win. In the end, the fight was exciting to watch. Goku and Vegeta’s rivalry lives on in their sons.
Kid Trunks Blocks Goten's Punch.
14. A Rivalry Renewed
Goku upgraded to Super Saiyan 2.
Vegeta allowed himself to be mind-controlled by Babidi so that he could fight Goku. Vegetarianism goes as far as even killing innocent people. Goku accepts Vegeta's challenge and demands Babidi take them somewhere else. Goku and Vegeta are transferred to a wasteland devoid of life. A Super Saiyan 2 Goku vs. Super Saiyan 2, Majin Vegeta A rivalry was renewed between the two strongest warriors.
Talk about a throwback. Goku vs. Vegeta Part 2 The last time these two fought, it ended in a draw. This time they’re both stronger than they were the first time they fought. This fight had everything a Dragon Ball Z fan wants in a fight. At times, both warriors were evenly matched, but Goku had the upper hand. Before Goku changes the tide of the battle. Even though we didn’t get the conclusion that we were looking for. The fight was still amazing.
Goku and Majin Vegeta battle in the air. Hitting each other with high knees.
13. A New Monster Emerges
Vegeta destroys Babidi’s ship.
Vegeta had arrived at Majin Buu’s location and destroyed Babidi’s ship. Vegeta announces Gohan’s "death" and charges right at Buu. It seemed like Vegeta had the upper hand against Buu. But that was proven false when every attack that Vegeta threw at Buu did not affect the monster. With no other choice, Vegeta sacrifices himself in the hopes of destroying Majin Buu.
We saw a change in Vegeta in these last few episodes; he went from being this prideful, vengeful Saiyan to someone who cared about the well-being of others. His fight with Majin Buu gave us a taste of the type of enemy the Z-fighters will be facing now, and from what we have seen, it doesn’t look good. This gave us one of the saddest yet most satisfying deaths in Dragon Ball Z history.
Vegeta hits Majin Buu with a right hook.
12. Even Goku wasn’t enough
Super Saiyan 3 Goku is here.
Goku faces off against Majin Buu in his Super Saiyan 3 form. Just like Vegeta and Gohan, it seemed that Majin Buu was no match for Goku. But it was later discovered that Majin Buu was just absorbing their attacks, and that is what makes it difficult to fight him. Goku is the only one other than Vegeta to bring the fight to Buu. The whole point of this fight was for Goku to someday buy Trunks.
We saw a new Super Saiyan transformation by Goku, and it didn’t disappoint. I loved everything about this fight because it shows that someone as strong as Goku was no match for Majin Buu. Which shows what kind of monster Majin Buu was. We didn’t see an enemy of that caliber until Goku Black and Beerus in Dragon Ball Super. We also learned that Majin Buu can easily copy techniques as well. As he copied not only one of Vegeta’s moves but also the Kamehameha after only seeing it once.
Majin Buu is not affected by Goku’s punch to the gut.
11. It’s the Kids' Turn
Gotenks in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with Super Buu.
After training in the hyperbolic time chamber for 30 minutes, Goten and Trunks are ready to face this new version of Majin Buu, known as Super Buu. They start by fusing into their alter-ego, known as Gotenks. The fight between the two combatants was pretty even; Gotenks was able to get a few hits in, as was Buu. Things took a turn when Piccolo destroyed the entrance to the hyperbolic time chamber, trapping them inside. Buu was able to escape and kill everyone by turning them into chocolate. Furious at the death of their loved ones, Gotenks, a newly transformed Super Saiyan 3, attacks Buu.
This was the first fight we saw with a full-fledged fused warrior. Gotenks brought the fight to Buu and was having fun doing so. It’s been a long time since we have seen someone do some serious damage to Buu. Gotenks did something that not even Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan were able to do. And when he got angry and did even more damage to Buu, it was incredible to watch. The fight as a whole was terrific.
Super Buu with a terrifying smile against Gotenks.
10. Ultimate Gohan vs Super Buu
Gohan smirked at Buu.
It’s been a while since we've seen Gohan. And he came back with a brand new attitude along with a whole new power boost. Not even in his Super Saiyan form, Gohan took the fight to Super Buu. Catching the monster off guard. Buu tried to get a few good hits in, but it was clear that Gohan had surpassed him.
Ultimate Gohan is hands down one of the best Gohan transformations ever. He had the power of a super Saiyan without the transformation. He did something that we haven’t seen since his fight with Perfect Cell. Gohan gave Super Buu a whooping, and he did all that without breaking a sweat. It was like he was Goku and Vegeta combined. He had Vegeta’s arrogance but also Goku’s maturity.
Ultimate Gohan kicks Super Buu.
9. Vegito vs Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed)
Vegito is testing out his newfound strength.
Vegeta finally decided to stop being so damn prideful and agreed to fuse with Goku. And thus, Vegito was born. This new warrior flew in the air to test out his new strength and abilities. Super Buu was impressed at first, but once he got a taste of Vegito’s power, he knew that this warrior was strong. The two beings fought, and Vegito was completely playing around with his food. None of Buu’s attacks affected him, and it showed. And when Vegito turned Super Saiyan, it was all over for Super Buu.
Vegito is one of my all-time favorite characters in DBZ, and this was the episode that made him my favorite. We always wondered what a fusion between Goku and Vegeta would look like, and we got our answer in Vegito. This man single-handedly destroyed Buu as soon as the fight started, and Buu had no chance of defeating Vegito. Even when Buu turned Vegito into a piece of candy, Vegito still gave that man a beating.
Vegito blocks Super Buu's punch with his foot.
8. Goku vs Kid Buu
Goku gets angry at Kid Buu for falling asleep.
Goku and Vegeta fight Kid Buu on the Supreme Kai planet. When Kids Buu destroyed the earth, the two traveled there and summoned Buu. Goku was the first one to challenge Kid Buu, but Buu was not taking him seriously and fell asleep. Which angers Goku, and he goes on the attack. At the beginning of the fight, Buu was not taking Goku seriously at all and ignored him. All jokes aside, Kid Buu brought the fight back to Goku and simply beat him down. Forcing Goku to transform into Super Saiyan 3. Even in Super Saiyan 3 form, Goku was no match for Kid Buu and was knocked out by the monster. Realizing there was no other way to beat him, Goku prepares for the spirit bomb to take down Kid Buu for good.
This is the one fight since the Frieza fight where we’ve seen Goku put all joking aside and take the fight seriously. From start to finish, Goku was on the attack, and that is what I liked. He wasn’t joking and playing around with his opponent. This fight had everything that we’ve come to expect from a Goku fight. Plus, we also got introduced to one of the best moments in DBZ. Goku’s super Saiyan spirit bomb attack That move was cold.
Goku was caught off guard by Kid Buu’s surprise appearance.
7. Goku vs Beerus
Goku charges at Beerus.
The Z-fighters were unable to get a hit on Lord Beerus and were quickly dismantled. With the help of his sons, Trunks, Vegeta, and his unborn granddaughter. Goku was able to become a Super Saiyan God. In this form, Goku was able to match Beerus in strength, and the fight was on between the two fighters.
This was the fight that brought Dragon Ball back onto the map, and it was the first fight that started Dragon Ball Super. We were introduced to new characters in Beerus and Whis. We also got to learn about the Saiyan God. The fight was everything you expected from a Dragon Ball fight. Seeing how the Super Saiyan God form is different in terms of strength and speed from the other Super Saiyan transformations Even though Goku lost in the end, the fight was hands down one of the best.
The two Gods’ fists collide with each other.
6. Goku vs Hit
Universe 7 and Universe 6 face off against each other in a tournament for the super dragon balls. Hit had just eliminated Vegeta from the tournament, and Goku was up next. The battle was tough and fierce between the combatants.
This fight is everything you wanted and more as a DBZ fan. We saw the return of the kaioken technique. We saw Hit overwhelm Goku with his time-jump ability. Goku pushes past his limit by combining the Kaioken with his Super Saiyan Blue Form. Most importantly, we saw the birth of a new rivalry.
Goku and Hit fighting in Hit’s time dimension.
5. Vegito vs Zamasu
Vegito returns.
Realizing that they can’t beat Zamasu by themselves. Goku and Vegeta fuse once again with the potara earrings, bringing back one of the best characters in the series, Vegito. Vegito transforms into Super Saiyan Blue and attacks Zamasu. The fight begins. With their combined strengths, Vegito was able to do some serious damage to Zamasu’s body.
Ah, my favorite fused character has returned, and boy, does he look even better. Getting to see Vegano once again was great. But the fight against Zamasu was even better. Throughout this entire arc, Zamasu was destroying Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks. Having had enough of the beatdowns, Goku and Vegeta fuse to become Vegito. And Zamasu got a test of his own medicine. Just like his fight against Super Buu, Vegito was completely overpowering and toying with his opponent. Zamasu had no chance of surviving this fight.
Vegito overpowers Zamasu.
4. Goku vs Kefla
Kefla appears right behind Goku.
An exhausted Goku is challenged by two Saiyan warriors from Universe 6, Kale and Caulifa. Even in his exhausted state, Goku defeated both girls and knocked them out of the ring. In a last-ditch effort, the two girls fused to create a powerful warrior, Kefla.
How would you describe this fight? fast-paced and intense. I will describe it as one of Goku’s toughest challenges. Goku has faced tough enemies before, from Frieza to Goku Black. But he hasn’t faced someone like Kefla. A warrior that is from the fusion of two Saiyans from Universe 6. What made this fight great was the fight itself and the fact that we got to see hands down the coolest Kamehameha ever.
Kefla blocks Goku's punch.
3. Vegeta vs Toppo
Toppo flies towards Vegeta.
The final two Universes are left standing. And their strongest warriors face off against each other. After taking care of Frieza and Android 17, Toppo turns his attention to Vegeta. The two face off in an epic battle.
Vegeta's moment to shine finally arrived, and he seized the perfect opportunity to put his Super Saiyan Blue Evolution to the test against Universe 11's next God of Destruction, Toppo. Despite the fierce battle seeming to favor Toppo, Vegeta managed to exceed his limits and turn the tide. Fueled by thoughts of his loved ones, he ultimately emerged victorious and eliminated the would-be Destroyer God.
Vegeta sends a kick at Toppo.
2. Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku vs Jiren
Goku is right behind Jiren, covered in this white aura, holding Jiren’s attack in his hand.
Jiren and Goku are the final two combatants in the tournament of power for their respective universes. Goku had once again entered his imperfect ultra-instinct mode and faced off against Jiren. This time, Jiren was prepared and overcame Goku’s attacks. When it seemed like Jiren was about to eliminate Goku. A white silhouette of Goku surrounded by the ultra-instinct aura appeared right behind Jiren.
The fight that we have been waiting for since their first meeting was Goku vs. Jiren And it lived up to our expectations. Goku in his perfected ultra-instinct form vs. a fully powered Jiren We learned so much about each fighter. Jiren’s reason for fighting and being strong and what makes Goku strong
Goku dodges Jiren's punch.
1. Gogeta vs Broly
Gogeta arrives to face Broly.
After getting their butts kicked numerous times by Broly. Goku and Vegeta decide that fusion is their only option left. Thus, Gogeta was born. Once the fusion is complete, Gogeta heads back to where Broly was. The two warriors fight all over.
Hands down, this has to be currently the best Dragon Ball fight scene. Goku vs. Broly was amazing. The fight itself was your typical DBZ fight, but it was the animation that made this spectacular. The animation for this sequence was done beautifully. From when the two fighters clashed to Gogeta’s Super Saiyan Blue transformation.
Gogeta blocks Broly’s punch with his forearm.
