#4: Stasis (Behemoth Titan)
The first step into darkness for Titans left a chilling sensation down every guardian’s spine if they decided to step into PVP on its release. With the element of Stasis being less powerful since then and the release of new exotics, the subclass is more than just making blueberries uninstall the game after a few crucible matches.
Despite the subclass being two years old, it is capable of efficient crowd control and ability generation for the user. Armor mods like Font of Light and most Charged with Light mods only make Stasis builds stronger by increasing the effectiveness of their abilities. Its only downside would be that the super only adds more to your neutral game instead of providing something like high damage or a showstopper ability. Its survivability in endgame content also cannot compete with other subclasses.
What Statis excels in:
- Crowd control by freezing enemies in their tracks and causing frozen targets to explode, damaging nearby enemies.
- Ability regeneration caused by Stasis Shards can serve as a natural source of elemental wells for the subclass.
- Exotic gear only amplifies the subclass instead of specific pieces of equipment serving as a necessity
- Due to the previous statement, a wide range of build options can easily use most of the best Titan exotics (Armamentarium, Heart of Inmost Light, Synthoceps, etc.)
- Synergizes with legendary weapon perks like Headstone create Stasis crystals on precision kills, and Chill Clip, direct hits with the top half of the magazine cause a detonation that slows nearby targets.
Choose Stasis if:
- The pace of natural combat can be overwhelming at times, and you wish to be the one who controls the pace
- You want to get the most out of those perks since they do not add much to the other subclasses
- You think the general form of build crafting is confusing, and you are looking for a general introduction to how high-end builds work
- The aesthetic of Stasis looks appealing to you since the most crucial part is that you think you look cool while turning enemies into ice shards

#3: Void (Defender/Sentinel)
Void encapsulates some core ideals on what it means to be a Titan; Supportive, defensive, and that one player who is passive in Trials of Osiris until the capture point spawns just to pop a bubble on top of it. Constantly thinking of the environment around you is almost necessary, making this anything but a point-and-click adventure.
Defender Titans have been around since the start of Destiny back in 2014 but were the first of the light-based subclasses to receive the 3.0 treatment. With the update, the new utility it provides for the user and their teammates makes it the unparalleled support choice for Titans. Casting Titan Barriers that grant those who stand by them over shields ensures your fireteam members are protected. The ability to choose a bubble dome shield allows you to double down on defense, while a more aggressive combat shield serves as a more offensive option in combat. Being the first to be upgraded, it can be outshined in some areas now that there is competition. That does not, however, make it unviable in high-level content.
What Void Titans Excel in:
- Supportive abilities that specifically provide over shields for the user and their teammates as Bastion, where Titan Barriers generate an over shield slowly over time as a player stands behind it, and the Shield Throw charged melee attack that can trigger health regeneration immediately and grant a small over shield to the user
- Being able to access abilities found in other classes, despite the methods of achieving them being untraditional (invisibility and devour)
- Enhanced crowd control capabilities when compared to the other classes due to the Controlled Demolitionist aspect and the suppressed status
- Flexibility in supers by having access to the highly potent Defender bubble that excels in high-level content, or the more aggressive Sentinel shield for more intense situations
Choose Void if:
- You are a more passive player
- Someone who likes ensuring their teammates are sustained well during combat
- You believe the best offense is a good defense
- The aesthetic of Void Titans looks appealing to you since the most crucial part is that you think you look cool while bashing the enemy’s face in with a shield

#2: Arc (Striker)
If Void Titans encapsulate their defensive nature, Arc Titans display their true destructive power. Being the origin of the infamous shoulder charge ability that has been making players question their existence since 2014, this subclass goes straight into the heat of battle with no fear. Even if it means they may die themselves. To Arc Titans, their fists can do more talking than any exotic Bungie could ever develop.
Being the first subclass Titans got their hands on in Destiny 1, it has seen many changes over the years. With it finally being updated to the 3.0 format recently, it is arguably the best the subclass has ever been. The raw damage Arc Titans can dish out is unrivaled in the current sandbox. Meshing that with new abilities and some of the best exotics available secure its spot in high-level content. Whether it’s the classic Fist of Havoc slam that will wipe out anything standing in its wake or the newer Thundercrash super that will obliterate any boss standing in your way, Arc Titans ensure they can delete health bars with ease.
What Arc Titans Excel in:
- High damage in neutral play with abilities like Thunderclap and enhanced Storm Grenades
- High damaging supers such as Thundercrash that handle bosses with ease, amplified with the Cuirass of the Falling Star exotic chest piece
- Blinding ads simply by getting kills with arc special weapons thanks to the Spark of Beacons fragment
- Improved mobility due to the Amplified keyword that provides increased sprinting speed and resistance to damage while Amplified
Choose Arc if:
- Being the best at damage per second is a priority of yours
- Charging into combat at fast speeds with powerful abilities is how you want to spend your time in combat
- You favor special weapons that are in the Arc element so that you get extra benefits for using them
- The aesthetic of Arc Titans looks appealing to you since the most crucial part is that you think you look cool while punching absolutely everything in the face

#1: Solar (Sunbreaker)
Finally, we have the subclass that may excel in what the others can but ensures both can be an option at any time. Having a hot intro back during The Taken King expansion in 2015, Solar Titans have become a notorious staple to the class. This subclass achieves great things in both PVE and PVP, even if those who use it must swim through some Hunter and Warlock tears.
While Solar Titans have notable features, some niche aspects are ignored. It was debated as the most lackluster super of the 3.0 updates until the dialogue quickly shifted to many players calling for nerfs to how the class achieves high health regeneration and consistent increases in damage. A throwing hammer melee ability that the user can pick up ensures both damage and health regeneration buffs are active. The less popular Burning Maul super is also efficient at stunning bosses in place for easy DPS.
What Solar Titans Excel in:
- Survivability granted by the Restoration keyword and the Ember of Tempering fragment that ensures it stays active so long as you get solar weapon kills
- Consistent abilities that are easy to manage and ensure your abilities are constantly up, or that you are constantly in a position where you can activate them
- Increasing ability and super damage thanks to the Radiant keyword and the Roaring Flames aspect that will steadily increase your damage depending on how many kills you get in a row with your solar abilities
- Stun-locking certain bosses in place with the Burning Maul super, making it easy for you and your teammates to focus damage on said bosses
- Flexible build options that can either focus on health regeneration or great damage
Choose Solar if:
- You are a solo player looking for a sustainable subclass that does not rely on teammates
- You find yourself dying a lot and are looking for something to help prevent that
- Having playstyle options in a single subclass is important to you
- The aesthetic of Solar Titans is appealing to you since the most crucial part is that you think you look cool while treating every enemy like a nail
