The Templar class from the critically acclaimed MMORPG “Elder Scrolls Online” can be an extremely powerful class, if built right. However, it can be difficult to figure out which race best suits the playstyle you're looking for, and that’s what I’m here for.

These feline warriors make great “Jack of All Trades” characters, which makes them great for pretty much every class in ESO. With racial skills such as “Robustness” and “Lunar Blessings” which increase magicka recovery and base magicka, Khajiit are well suited for the high magickal demand of Templars. And because they’re so well rounded, you can use them for both dps and healing Templar builds.
Why khajiits are good for templar players

The racial ability “Robustness” increases magicka recovery by up to 85.
The racial ability “Lunar Blessing” can increase magicka by up to 915.
Khajiits are good “Jack of All Trades” and can be used for nearly every build.

4. Dark Elf (Dunmer)

Another great “Jack of All Trades” race, though this one is arguably better. This race is great for beginners who aren’t quite sure what type of build they want to play yet, as Dunmer are flexible and powerful. They work well for both stamina and magicka based templars, and have incredible boosts like increased magicka and spell damage.
What makes Dark Elves so good

The racial ability “Dynamic” can increase max magicka to 1910.
The racial ability “Ruination” can increase weapon and spell damage by up to 258.
Dunmer have an in canon natural tendency of great intellect and magickal talent.

3. High Elves (Altmer)

This ancient and proud race is known for their insane affinity for magicka. They have great racial skills that boost their magicka and experience, making them great for a magicka-based templar. However, they aren’t suited for stamina builds, and do better with a staff rather than a sword.
Why choose an Altmer?

The racial skill “Spell Recharge” can reduce takeen damage by up to 5%, and restore up to 625 magicka.
The racial skill “Syrabane’s Boon” can increase max magicka by up to 2000.
The racial skill “Elemental Talent” can increase spell damage by up to 258.

2. Argonian

If you want a healer templar build, Argonians are the way to go.. These lizard-like folk make excellent healers, and are one of the best races for PvP gameplay.. Just throw in a restoration staff and a few spells, and you got yourself a healer to be reckoned with.
What makes Argonians so good:

The racial ability “Amphibian” increases experience gained in the Restoration Staff skill line by 15%.
The racial ability “Life Mender” increases healing by up to 6%
The racial ability “Resourceful” increases max magicka by up to 1000, and restores up to 3125 health, magicka, and stamina when using a potion.

When it comes to both dps and healing based templars, Bretons are the ideal race.. With elven blood running through their veins, Bretons make master magicka users. They work great for both PvP and group dungeons, as they have strong spell resistance and don’t need to use potions as often.
Why choose a Breton?

The racial ability “Gift of Magnus” increases max magicka by up to 2000.
The racial ability “Spell Attunement” increases… well, spell attunement by up to 2310, and increases magicka recovery by up to 130.
The racial ability “Magicka Mastery” reduces the cost of magicka by up to 6%.
