Gold is the form of currency in Story of Seasons titles, which you’re going to need a looooot of to buy crop seeds, animals, and building upgrades, among many other things. In this remake, time goes by twice as fast. Zack comes by to clean out your shipping bin in exchange for gold at 5pm, so any items placed in there after 5pm will be collected the next day. Now, we’ll go over the methods to make money for your little farm.

1. Foraging

Foraging is the easiest way to make money in your early game--you simply pick up items off the ground and put them in the shipping bin. Varieties of herbs, flowers, and fruits are easy to spot in the mountain areas. This won’t earn you very much gold even if you sell everything you can find, but it’s a good source of income when you’re starting out or are in-between harvests.

How to Forage:
1. Explore grassy areas such as the path to the mountain or the Goddess Pond
2. Flowers, mushrooms, and herbs are all free to pick. Click around to find which you can harvest!
3. These can be used as gifts, cooking ingredients, or for a bit of extra gold

2. Growing Crops:

Crops are one of the first ways you can earn gold in-game, and will be a consistent source of income throughout most of the year as long as you keep planting. Winter is the only time you can’t plant any vegetables, so make the most of those first three seasons!

How to plant crops:
1. Buy seeds from the general store
2. Use your hoe to till 3x3 squares, using one bag of seeds each
3. Water them everyday until they’re ready to harvest

Bonus: Tilling the field with your hoe can randomly net you some coins and a power berry!

3. Fishing

Fishing is a very simple and fun mechanic--one button to cast your line, and one button to reel in a fish on your hook. Bigger fish net you greater amounts of gold, and with the sped up time, you’re likely to catch a fish very quickly. As you upgrade your fishing rod, you’ll catch bigger fish more often, which will sell for more.

How to Fish:
1. Equip your fishing rod
2. Go to any body of water, such as the ocean or Goddess Pond
3. Press Y to cast your line, and press it again once you see a “!”

4. Mining

Mining takes up a lot of stamina, but if you get to the lower floors, you can rack up ores and gems that’ll sell for a pretty penny. Tilling the dirt in the mines can grant you some gold, too. Remember to bring plenty of food with you! You’ll be able to find some black grass to munch on while tilling, too.

How to Mine:
1. Have your hoe and hammer in your bag
2. Go to the cave opening to the left of the Goddess Pond
3. Use your hammer to break up the rocks, and your hoe to look for a ladder to the next floor

5. Animal Products

You can harvest eggs and milk everyday after buying a chicken and cow, which costs quite a bit to afford, not to mention budgeting for fodder for your critters. But once you have your animals raised to adulthood and fed regularly, the profit more than makes up for what you’re spending on your animal friends.

1. Save up enough gold to afford the animals of your choosing, and buy feed for them (fodder for barn animals can be grown in your field).
2. All animals will start out as babies, so keep an eye on their growth as you feed and care of them
3. Once your animals reach adulthood, use the correct tools (milkers for cows, shears for sheep, etc) to collect your animal products regularly.

These are all the steady ways of making gold that this version of Friends of Mineral Town provides. No matter your farming style, there will be a way for you to fund your lifestyle. Have fun making gold by doing what you love!
