Dead by Daylight Best Ghostface Builds
Updated:
17 Dec 2023

The Ghostface remains one of the most popular killer picks in Dead by Daylight ever since his addition back in June of 2019. Maintaining one of the most powerful stealth powers, it is essential that you get your build right when playing The Ghostface. Here are five builds to maximize your gameplay.

5. Beginner Build

The Ghostface comes with three teachable perks:

I’m All Ears: Any Survivor performing a Rush Vault action within 48 meters of your location has their Aura Revealed to you for 6 seconds. I'm All Ears can only be triggered once every 60/50/40 seconds.

Thrilling Tremors: after picking up a Survivor, all Generators not currently being repaired by Survivors are blocked by The Entity for the next 16 seconds. The Auras of blocked Generators are highlighted to you in white. Thrilling Tremors has a cool-down of 100/80/60 seconds.

Furtive Chase: You lurk in the shadows, eliminating your victims one by one. Each time you hook your Obsession, you benefit from the following effects for 14/16/18 seconds: Grants the Undetectable Status Effect. Grants a +5 % Haste Status Effect. Whenever the Obsession is rescued from a Hook, their rescuer will become the new Obsession.

For this build we will use:

  • Sloppy Butcher
  • Brutal Strength
  • Surge
  • A Nurses Calling

Sloppy Butcher is a universal perk. When you injure a survivor with a basic attack, that survivor suffers from the hemorrhage and mangled status effect. These effects increase bleeding and slow healing speed. It additionally regresses and heals progress passively. Surge is a perk that instantly regresses affected Generators within 32 meters of your location  by 6/7/8 % when you put a survivor in the dying state with a basic attack. This will help you manage gen progression.

Brutal Strength is a perk from the trapper. It allows you to break Pallets, Breakable Walls and damage Generators 10/15/20% faster. Nurses Calling is a perk from the Nurse. The Auras of Survivors, who are healing or being healed, are revealed to you when they are within a range of 20/24/28 meters.

Overall, this build provides a balanced approach to map control, chase pressure, and information gathering. It effectively disrupts Survivors' progress, punishes their attempts to heal, and allows you to make quick and impactful plays.

This build excels at:

  • Applying consistent pressure and hindering Survivors' progress. Sloppy Butcher slows down healing and applies the Hemorrhage status effect, forcing Survivors to spend more time recovering and less time working on objectives. Surge (Jolt) provides burst generator regression whenever you down a Survivor, further disrupting their progress.
  • Capitalizing on Survivors' attempts to heal and securing surprise downs. Nurses Calling reveals the auras of Survivors who are healing or being healed, allowing you to track them down and interrupt their healing process. This creates opportunities for surprise attacks and quick downs.
  • Efficiently breaking Pallets and damaging Generators. Brutal Strength's increased interaction speed allows you to break Pallets, Breakable Walls, and damage Generators more quickly, improving your chase efficiency and map control.

4. Chase Build

This build includes:

  • Brutal Strength
  • Enduring
  • Spirit Fury
  • Surge

Enduring is a perk from The Hillbilly. It reduces Pallet Stun duration by 40/45/50 %.

Spirit Fury is a perk from The Spirit. After breaking 4/3/2 Pallets, Spirit Fury activates: The next time you are stunned by a Pallet, The Entity instantly breaks it. The normal Stun penalty still applies. Spirit Fury deactivates after applying its effect.

The goal with this build is to end chases as quickly, and efficiently, as possible. This build works best with an aggressive playstyle. Surge will manage gen regression as you down survivors.

This build excels at:

  • Quickly breaking Pallets and maintaining map control. Brutal Strength enhances your interaction speed, allowing you to break Pallets, Breakable Walls, and damage Generators more quickly. Enduring reduces Pallet stun duration, enabling you to recover faster and maintain chase momentum. Spirit Fury further reinforces your Pallet-breaking capabilities by instantly breaking the next Pallet after you've broken three, deterring Survivors from relying on Pallets for protection.
  • Applying consistent pressure and maximizing chase efficiency. Surge (Jolt) provides burst generator regression whenever you down a Survivor, disrupting their progress and forcing them to focus on repairing generators rather than objectives. The combination of Brutal Strength, Enduring, and Spirit Fury allows you to maintain map control, break Pallets swiftly, and end chases quickly, enabling you to apply constant pressure and increase your chances of securing kills.
  • Adapting to different map layouts and Survivor strategies. This build is versatile and can be effective on a variety of maps, regardless of their pallet placement or Survivor tactics. Brutal Strength's increased interaction speed is always beneficial for map control, Enduring's reduced stun duration helps you recover quickly from Pallet stuns, and Spirit Fury's instant Pallet break provides an additional countermeasure against Pallet-reliant Survivors.

3.  Fast Ghostface Build

This build includes:

  • Play with your Food
  • Fire Up
  • Rapid Brutality
  • Save The Best for Last

Play with Your Food is a perk from The Shape.  Each time you chase your Obsession and let them escape, Play with Your Food receives 1 Token, up to a maximum of 3 Tokens: Each Token applies a stack-able 3/4/5 % Haste Status Effect, up to a maximum of 9/12/15 %. Performing Basic Attacks, or Special Attacks that can damage Survivors, consumes 1 Token.

Save The Best for Last is a perk from The Shape. Each time you hit a Survivor other than your Obsession with a Basic Attack, STBFL gains 1 Token, up to a maximum of 8 Tokens: Gain a stack-able -5 % Cool-down reduction on successful Basic Attacks per Token, up to a maximum of -40 %. Each time you hit your Obsession with a Basic Attack, Save the Best for Last loses 4/3/2 Tokens. When the Obsession is sacrificed or killed, Save the Best for Last freezes its current Token count.

Fire Up is a perk from The Nightmare. Each time a Generator is completed, Fire Up grows in power and gains 1 Token, up to a maximum of 5 Tokens. Each Token applies a stack-able buff of 3/3.5/4 % per Token, up to a maximum of 15/17.5/20 %, to the following Action speeds: Picking up and dropping Survivors, breaking Breakable Walls and Pallets, damaging Generators and Vaulting Windows. Rapid Brutality is a perk from The Xenomorph. You no longer gain the Bloodlust Status Effect. Successfully hitting a Survivor with a Basic Attack grants you a +5 % Haste Status Effect for 8/9/10 seconds.

To enhance this build , you can use these two addons:

  • Drop-leg Knife Sheath: Grants a 10 % Haste Status Effect for 5 seconds after Marking a Survivor.
  • Outdoor Security Camera: Putting a Marked Survivor into the Dying State reveals the Auras of all Survivors for 7 seconds.

This build excels at:

  • Rapid Haste Buffs: Play with Your Food and Rapid Brutality provide substantial Haste bonuses, significantly increasing your movement speed during chases. Play with Your Food rewards you for letting your Obsession escape, while Rapid Brutality grants Haste after each successful Basic Attack.
  • Improved Action Speeds: Fire Up enhances your action speeds, allowing you to interact with the environment more quickly. This includes picking up and dropping Survivors, breaking Breakable Walls and Pallets, damaging Generators, and vaulting Windows.
  • Cooldown Reduction: Save the Best for Last reduces the cooldown of your Basic Attacks, enabling you to chain hits more effectively and secure downs faster.
  • Synergy and Snowballing: The combination of these perks creates a powerful synergy that amplifies your speed and efficiency. The Haste buffs from Play with Your Food and Rapid Brutality make it easier to catch Survivors, while the improved action speeds from Fire Up allow you to quickly break Pallets, damage Generators, and vault Windows. Save the Best for Last further enhances your chase potential by reducing the cooldown of your Basic Attacks.

2. Aura Build

This build includes:

  • Bamboozle
  • Nowhere to Hide
  • Ultimate Weapon
  • I’m All Ears

Bamboozle is a perk from The Clown. After vaulting a Window, Bamboozle calls upon The Entity to block that Window for the next 8/12/16 seconds. Blocked Windows cannot be vaulted by Survivors. Increases your general Vaulting speed by 5/10/15 %.

Ultimate Weapon is a perk from The Xenomorph. Whenever you open a Locker, Ultimate Weapon activates for 30 seconds: Survivors entering your Terror Radius scream and reveal their location to you. Those Survivors suffer from the Blindness Status Effect for 30 seconds. Ultimate Weapon has a cool-down of 40/35/30 seconds.

This build excels at:

  • Denying Window Vaults and Enhancing Vault Speed: Bamboozle temporarily blocks Windows after you vault them, preventing Survivors from using them as escape routes or for mind games. Additionally, it boosts your vaulting speed, enabling you to quickly traverse the map and close in on Survivors.
  • Revealing Survivor Locations and Causing Distraction: Nowhere to Hide reveals the auras of Survivors within 24 meters of a damaged Generator, providing valuable information about their whereabouts. Ultimate Weapon causes Survivors entering your Terror Radius after opening a Locker to scream and reveal their locations, while also inflicting Blindness for 30 seconds. This creates distractions and forces Survivors to make risky decisions.
  • Tracking Survivors and Predicting Their Movements: I'm All Ears increases the range of the Terror Radius music when Survivors are within 16/18/20 meters of you, allowing you to track their movements and anticipate their actions. This enhanced awareness helps you make informed decisions about your next move and intercept Survivors effectively.

1. Brute Force Build

  • Lethal Pursuer
  • Eruption
  • Nowhere to Hide
  • Brutal Strength

Lethal Pursuer is a perk from The Nemesis. At the start of the match, the auras of all survivors are revealed to you for 7/8/9 seconds. Additionally, this perk extends the duration of a Survivor's Aura being revealed to you by +2 seconds.

Eruption is a teachable perk from The Nemesis. Kicking a generator activates an eruption. Multiple generators can be affected by Eruption. When a survivor is put into the dying state by any means, all affected generators explode and begin regressing by 10% of their maximum progression. Additionally,  all Survivors repair the afflicted Generators to scream and reveal their Aura to you for 8/10/12 seconds.

Nowhere to hide is a teachable perk from The Knight. After damaging a generator, the auras of all survivors within 24 meters of our location are revealed for 3/4/5 seconds. We will also bring back Brutal strength for this build.

The goal with this build is to chain Brutal Strength, Eruption, and Nowhere to hide together every time you break a gen. Nowhere to hide will help us get into chase faster right after kicking a gen. Lethal pursuer will passively increase the effect of Nowhere to Hide.

To make this build even more effective, you can equip the “Olsen’s Wallet” addon. On breaking a Pallet or Breakable Wall; immediately recharges Night Shroud. This lets you quickly recharge your power to get more use out of the exposed status of the survivors.

This build excels at:

  • Generator Regression and Map Control: Brutal Strength allows you to break Pallets and damage Generators more quickly, while Eruption causes all affected Generators to explode and regress when a Survivor is put into the Dying State. This creates a constant threat of generator regression and forces Survivors to make difficult choices between repairing Generators and rescuing their teammates.
  • Information Gathering and Chase Efficiency: Nowhere to Hide reveals the auras of Survivors within 24 meters of a damaged Generator, providing valuable information about their locations. Lethal Pursuer further enhances this information gathering by revealing the auras of all Survivors at the start of the match and extending the duration of their auras when they are revealed. This allows you to quickly identify and chase down Survivors.
  • Synergy and Snowballing: The combination of these perks creates a powerful synergy that maximizes generator regression, map control, and chase efficiency. Brutal Strength speeds up your interactions with the environment, Eruption punishes Survivors for repairing Generators, Nowhere to Hide reveals their locations, and Lethal Pursuer gives you an early advantage.

Hopefully these builds spice up your gameplay as The Ghostface. They should highlight the intricates of his power and the versatility that these builds provide.
