Wizard of Legend is a fast-paced dungeon crawler, featuring an exhilarating and dynamic combat system that revolves around creating different combinations of spells to defeat increasingly powerful enemies. In your quest to beat the game’s roguelike dungeon, the “Chaos Trials,” you will receive additional spells and relics that can help you along the way; purchasing these two things requires “Chaos Gems” to buy, which you can typically obtain by clearing dungeons and defeating bosses. The four items up for shop are decided randomly, however, so you may find yourself buying everything out in the hopes that your desired item will show up. This tends to burn through your supply of Chaos Gems, and you’ll find yourself wanting more quickly.
Generally, the surefire way of getting Chaos Gems is simply playing the game, but there are different ways of ensuring that you get the most out of your dungeon runs. By the time you’re done reading this, you’ll hopefully have an easier time buying out the arcana and relic shops before heading out to the Chaos Trials!
Method 1: Doki the Banker
Doki the Banker is one of the many NPCs that randomly appear during the Chaos Trials. If you’re new to the game and looking to get Chaos Gems as quickly as possible, watch out for Doki during the trials. She’ll be willing to exchange all your gold in exchange for chaos gems. The exchange rate being 9% (9 gems per 100 gold). This method on its own isn’t the most reliable, as there is only a chance that Doki may spawn on each floor. When you’re just starting out, the most reliable way to get Chaos Gems is to simply play through the trials and beat bosses.
Method 2: Token of Wealth
Once you’ve made enough runs in the trials, you may come across a relic named “Token of Wealth,” either in the relic shop in the plaza or on sale in Artisan Andres’s shop. If you do, then getting this relic should be a priority. The Token of Wealth will ensure that Doki the Banker will spawn on the next floor, if possible (boss floors are an exception), and increases her exchange rate from 9% to 12% (12 gems per 100 gold). Once you acquire the Token of Wealth, you’ll have a more reliable source of Chaos Gems, as long as you’re willing to sacrifice the gold for it.
Method 3: Trading Gems for Gold with Jade
As you progress through the trials and play the game more, you may notice yourself growing more proficient at the combat system. This means that you’re ready to add an extra step to your gem-making scheme! At the plaza, you may have seen an NPC named “Jade,” who will trade you 20 Chaos Gems for 200 gold. This seems unintuitive at first, but if you have the Token of Wealth, you can find Doki the Banker on the first floor, and trade all 200 gold for 24 Chaos Gems. You’ve just earned a net profit of 4 free Chaos Gems, and that’s not counting the ones that you’ll get playing through the Chaos Trials. As long as you have the Token of Wealth on you, you’ll always be growing your bank of Chaos Gems with this technique.
Method 4: Getting Farther into the Game
Once you have the Token of Wealth, and have made a regular routine of getting gold from Jade, and trading it with Doki the Banker, the only way left to make as many Chaos Gems as you can is to get as far into the Chaos Trials as you can! The more enemies and bosses you defeat, the more Chaos Gems it’ll reward you with. And if you beat the game, you’ll be rewarded with a ton of Chaos Gems, as well as a random Chaos Arcana. This will make beating the Chaos Trials easier, which means more Chaos Gems.
