[Top 15] Baldur's Gate 3 Best Scenes

Karlach from baldur's gate 3
Those moments when you don't know whether to laugh or cry.

15. The Opening

This scene is found at the very start of the game, providing context to the story and showing how we end up infected with the parasite.

In this scene, we find ourselves held captive inside a Mind Flayer ship with a Githyanki. We are helpless as a large Mind Flayer comes in and places a tadpole into the eye of the Githyanki and our own. We then see the ship being pursued and attacked, leading us right into the first playable scene of the game.

We love this scene because it’s a perfect introduction to the game. Whether players have experience with Baldur’s Gate or are complete newbies, this scene is easy to follow and sets up a chilling tone for the rest of the game.

This scene is especially great as it introduces us to our very first companion, Lae’Zel. It’s truly a horrific situation to be in, watching her suffer and knowing you’ll be next. It allows us better to understand her character and the desperation behind her actions.

14. Halsin’s Bear Form

This scene is found during Act 3 if you managed to lift the shadow curse during Act 2.

In this scene, we finally get our long-awaited spicy time with Halsin. However, in the heat of the moment, Halsin’s druidic powers turn him into his bear form. He quickly turns back and apologises, claiming it to be out of his control. We are then presented with the option to continue with him in his human form or get wild with his bear form.

We love this scene because it’s so unexpected. While some players question the morality of messing around with a bear, others find it funny and exciting. Halsin is definitely a loveable companion and a great romance option, but it really does sound absurd to have this scene in the game!

While this scene is a bit strange, it does add some depth to Halsin’s character. He’s deeply connected to nature, and his struggle to contain his wild shape really reflects how instinctual he is. Bear Halsin might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s certainly an interesting use of wild shape.

13. The Emperor Romance

This scene is found in Act 3 if you’ve remained loyal and emphatic towards the Emperor.

In this scene, you find yourself in the Astral Realm with the Emperor. After a short heart-to-heart, he makes a move on you. If you accept his advances, he then offers to change into his guardian form or remain as a Mind Flayer.

We love this scene because it gives players the chance they never thought they’d get! Before the game was released, Larian claimed that there would be no spicy Mind Flayer scenes, but here we are.

It does seem odd since his form is extremely alien, and he doesn’t exactly have a proper mouth.

Unfortunately, we never get to see how spicy Mind Flayer time actually works, apart from the fact that tentacles may or may not be an erogenous appendage.

12. Pretending To Be Ill

This scene is found in Act 2 in the House of Healing when the player fails a performance check.

In this scene, the character must pretend to be sick in order to convince one of the nurses to accept them. If the performance check is failed, they will do a hilariously bad job! Each companion has their own dramatic whine, with a cheeky little peek to see if it’s working. Spoiler alert, it isn’t.

We love this scene because it’s so entertaining to see all the companions try their best and fail. They’re all so dramatic, and it’s nice to see the more serious characters acting a bit silly every now and then.

They may not be convincing anyone they’re sick, but they’ve certainly convinced us to love them even more.

11. Licking Goblin Toes

This scene is found in Act 1 at the Goblin Camp. You’ll have to agree to either kissing or licking his foot.

In this scene, a Goblin attempts to humiliate you by ordering you to kiss his foot. You can choose to kiss it or go even further and give it a good long lick.

We love this scene because it’s just so gross. Even the Goblin seems to think so, getting so offended that it actually triggers a fight. Considering how filthy Goblins are supposed to be, it makes you wonder whether the satisfaction of grossing him out was worth the disgust of doing it.

While the other companions go so far as encouraging you, it’s funny to see everyone’s reactions when you slip a toe in your mouth.

10. Walking In On The Ogre

This scene is found in Act 1 when you open the doors of a barn to the East of the blighted village.

In this scene, you hear some strange grunting noises coming from a barn. If you choose to investigate, you’ll realise that it’s some creatures have spicy time. Decide to interrupt, and you’ll swing the doors open to reveal a bugbear messing around with a gigantic ogre.

We love this scene simply because it’s hilarious. The couple obviously don’t appreciate your entrance and, unless you have a bard, will start a fight. But honestly, what would you expect when you barge into something like that?

Can you really blame them for being upset? It’s even funnier if you manage to get the bard version of the scene, as the bugbear gets shot down by the ogre’s comments about his performance. Poor Guy.

9. Kicking Squirrels

This scene is found in Act 1 to the East of the Emerald Grove.

In this scene, you come across a squirrel sitting on a bridge. It will come over and bite you, giving you the option to either kick it or study it. Choosing to kick it will send it flying against a rock, splattering blood everywhere.

We love this scene because of how quickly it escalates. You’d think the option might just lead to a small kick just to get it out of the way. But no, it practically explodes against your foot, leaving traces of massacred squirrels everywhere.

Astarion’s reaction is especially funny as he typically doesn’t have an issue with cruelty. But the idea of wasting food for him crosses the line.

8. Raphael Fight

This scene is found in Act 3 in the House of Hope if you choose to steal the Orphic Hammer.

In this scene, Raphael is furious when you attempt to leave the Hells after stealing the Orphic Hammer. Thus begins the boss fight.

We love this scene because of the amazing soundtrack. The main theme that plays is called ‘Raphael’s Final Act’ and is one of the few boss fights with its own song. It truly sets the atmosphere and makes the fight so much more intense, especially with Raphael getting his own part in the song.

This scene is clearly a fan favourite, with many agreeing that this song absolutely slaps.

7. Isobel’s Reunion

This scene is at the end of Act 2 if you choose to free the Nightsong and defeat Ketheric.

In this scene, we see the two lovers, Isobel and Aylin, reuniting after many years apart.

We love this scene because of how passionate and romantic it is. Aylin truly believed her lover was dead, and it’s lovely to see her joyful reaction to finding out the truth. In previous scenes, Aylin was a strong and brutal character, so it’s nice to see her softer side come out.

This scene is especially entertaining as Aylin wastes no time getting back to the intimacies of the relationship, flat-out telling us that she plans to sleep with Isobel. Talk about being eager!

6. Astarion Getting Blown Up

This scene is in Act 2 if you choose to take the Blood of Lathander Mace from the Githyanki Creche.

In this scene, the weapon on top of the creche activates when you steal the mace. It brings the entire building down on top of Astarion, killing him. When you revive him again, he certainly has something to say about it.

We love this scene because of the hilarious and phenomenal voice acting from Niel Newbon. From the delivery to the little cracks in his voice when he shouts, he really brings life to Astarion’s character.

It’s also sweet that he forgives you for your actions in the end, highlighting how he really does have a soft spot for us.

5. Dark Urge Tav Speaks

This scene is in Act 3 if you choose to do a Dark Urge playthrough.

In this scene, Orin takes the form of your character and gives a monologue in your voice.

We love this scene because this is one of the only moments in the entire game where we get to hear our voice in an actual cutscene. Throughout the game, we can hear repetitive little voice lines that all the players know by heart at this point.

Even though it isn’t really our character, just Orin impersonating us, it’s still so cool to hear our character’s voice being used in a scene for once.

4. Astarion Killing Cazador

This scene is in Act 3 if you follow Astarion’s storyline and persuade him not to Ascend once Cazador is defeated.

In this scene, Astarion pulls the defeated Cazador from his coffin and threatens to take his power. If you convince him not to Ascend, he continues to brutally stab Cazador to death before falling to his knees and crying.

We love this scene because of how raw and powerful it is. It’s a huge moment in Astarion’s character arc. He’s finally broken free from the chains of his master and can live his own life for the first time in 200 years. It’s genuinely such a moving moment.

There’s a lot of raw emotion in this one. Astarion could have ended him quickly, but we see him stab and stab and stab. It’s brutal and violent, but it’s such a satisfying resolution for him.

3. Wyll’s Dance

This scene is during Act 2 if you choose to follow Wyll’s romance storyline.

In this scene, we walk in on Wyll dancing. He then encourages us to join him. If you accept, then you’ll get a very passionate dance scene with him.

We love this scene because of how romantic it is. Wyll is arguably one of the most overlooked companions, with characters like Astarion and Karlach stealing the spotlight. We get to see the best parts of him here, his sweet charm and his gentle nature. It’s a genuinely lovely and adorable moment.

Wyll deserves so much more love, especially when you see scenes like this. Whilst his storyline may not be the most dramatic or exciting, it’s still worth a try. Also, his demon form canonically has a forked tongue. Do with that information what you will.

2. Astarion’s Hug

In this scene, Astarion opens up to you about his feelings. You are given the choice to show how you really feel about him, including an option to hug him.

We love this scene because it reflects Astarion’s more gentle and vulnerable side. For the past 200 years, he’s never been shown a single act of true affection, so to see his reaction to genuine love is heartbreaking.

This scene is so perfect. From his surprised face to the slow acceptance and reciprocation, it beautifully conveys how he’s become completely comfortable with you.

1. Karlach Breaking The 4th Wall

In this scene, Karlach begins by asking to do some devil truth-telling tricks on you. If you agree, she begins with a few basic questions but suddenly snaps into some kind of trance. She looks directly at the camera and begins to realise she’s in a game.

We love this scene because of how eerie and meta it is. No other characters break the fourth wall, and players don’t even know how to get this scene naturally. Karlach’s existential dialogue and intense reactions are so unnerving, especially when she snaps out of it and acts like nothing happened.

It’s actually pretty cool how Karlach implies that we’ve played the game before, obsessing about how she’s stuck there without knowing the end. It’d be interesting to see if there are any other strange hidden scenes to find throughout the game.
