[Top 10] Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Villagers

Animal Crossing New Horizons Best Villagers, acnh best villagers
Types of Animal Crossing villagers.

When it comes to Animal Crossing, there are so many villagers that you can pick and choose from, it’s hard to really limit them down – there are 397 of them! But, as someone who has seen so many villagers come and go from her island, I can report on what I personally feel are the best villagers in this game, from trade-ability to just pure friendship, to the story behind them.

10. Marina

Marina in her home.
Personality: Normal

I might get some hate for this, but I’m not fond of Marina as much as everyone else. While she is adorable – I mean, she’s a cute octopus that sings all the time – I feel that friendship wise, she doesn’t have much to offer.

  • Although, the reason I put her on the list is that I feel she’s one of the best normal-villagers out there, compared to some of the others. Many people love her more than #10, so they will trade so many Nook bells and miles for her.

9. Bob

Personality: Lazy

I’ve never had Bob personally on my island, but I’ve been to many islands that do have him, and he’s honestly one of the funnier characters. But that’s not really what brings him in on this last. I adore his design.

  • There are some villagers in this game in the cat species that are so…normal-looking, while Bob is this purple cat with narrowed eyes and this strange smile that almost makes you wonder what goes on inside his head – but at the end of the day, he’s a lazy cat who likes to chill.

8. Judy

Judy talking to a villager.
Personality: Snooty

I had Judy on my island for a week, and I wasn’t the hugest fan. Honestly, I’m not the super into snooty villagers in general just because some of them are quite…interesting-looking.

  • But again, I put her up here because her design is inheritably different. Many bear villagers exist in this game, and her is the most unique, from her cotton candy coating of fur to the starry eyes and eyelashes that don’t seem to stop.
  • She’s more feminine than probably any other character out there, so if you’re looking for a super girly-girl, Judy is your gal.

7. Diana

Diana and a villager being happy together.
Personality: Snooty

Another snooty character, but Diana is really unlike any of the others. While I did say Judy was your utmost feminine type of character, Diana is also that in a not so forwarding way. Judy's eyes always unsettled me a little bit, but Diana is a simple white deer with a little bit of coloring along the way.

  • Her house is also impressive on the inside. It's like a hotel with marble everything.
  • I've had her on my island for a long time, and she's never steered me wrong, so if you're looking for a deer character, Diana might be your go-to. However, there is another that is worth mentioning.

6. Beau

Beau and the villager talking before taking him to your island.
Personality: Lazy

Yet another deer, but Beau is seriously the sweetest person you will ever meet. I mean, look at his eyes. It always seems that he’s just relaxing all the time and doesn’t have a care in the world.

  • While his design isn’t anything special – he indeed looks like a regular deer – his personality and the way he speaks makes up for it. He’s just an overall friendly villager, even though considered a Lazy villager. If you get Beau, you’re going to have a great guy on your hands.

5. Zucker

Zucker eating a donut.
Personality: Lazy

It seems that all the lazy characters get the shine on this. That’s because they are the ones who have some of the best designs. Zucker is one of the few octopuses you can get in the game, being that there’s only a couple of them. But what makes Zucker so much more likable than Marina is that I feel that he is so much rarer to find.

  • I have searched for hours for this man, and I have never stumbled across him once. Now I’m starting to realize why he would always go for so many nook miles. It’s ridiculous. If you’re looking to make some bank, find Zucker, have him move out, and live in luxury.

4. Merengue/Marshall

Merengue introducing herself. Marshall singing by the water.
Personalities: Normal/Smug

I love both of these characters equally because neither seems to one-up the other. Both of them have cute designs, are relatively wanted in the ACNH community, and have good conversation options. I feel that I have a special connection with them because they’ve always given me a lot of presents occasionally.

  • Marshall’s permanent frown on his face makes him even cuter to talk to because he’s a cute squirrel that’s always grumpy, while Merengue has a literal strawberry for her horn. A strawberry. It’s so adorable.

3. Molly

Personality: Normal

Alright, maybe I’m a little biased when it comes to Molly because I’ve wanted her since the very beginning of the game, and when I got her, I was crying for a good ten minutes because I was so happy.

  • Again, Molly looks like an average duck. Her character design isn’t something glorious or different. But it’s her personality that brings out her desirability.
  • She is one of the kindest villagers you will ever meet, and when you get to be her friend, she will shower you in gifts. Not only that, but she’s a little ducky. What is cuter than that?

2. Raymond

Raymond resting in a cat bed in his home.
Personality: Smug

Ah, Raymond. Many people would put him at number one, but I have someone else in mind for that coveted spot. Raymond, however, is your key to success in this game.

  • He has the highest return rate for if you want to trade villagers for nook bells or tickets – I once saw someone sell him for 10 million bells. Why? He’s a smug cat with thick glasses and a cute design, who wears a suit all day. Who wouldn’t want that?
  • The real reason, however, is that Raymond is an entirely new character. While some of the other names on this list are easier to get with an amiibo card or statue, Raymond can not, because he is new. He doesn’t have a card yet. And he’s even rarer to find in the game.
  • So trading with someone is very valuable, and you’ll get a massive dump into your nook account or inventory with this little guy.

1. Audie

Audie introducing herself to the villager before being taken to her island.
Personality: Peppy

My number one villager is Audie, for a multitude of reasons. She’s a peppy wolf who is always happy and will be your best friend. Her design is pretty cute, with probably one of the best cat-eye eyeliner I have ever seen. But it’s not the perpetually giddy personality of this wolf that lures me in – it’s the story behind her.

  •  Audie was created as a character to tribute a grandma, named Audrey, who played the former Animal Crossing game, New Leaf, for 3,580 hours. Now that’s some serious dedication to your villagers.
  • From there, they decided to make her into a character, Audie. That was the name her account was under before, as Audie. And now, Audie is an actual villager in the game.
  • Having Audie is a real treat to your island, and she will please anyone that passes through it.
