This may not be the most efficient to heal a dinosaur, but it’s surely a simple one. Plant Species Z is a plant that grows in Aberration DLC, Genesis: Part 1, and Crystal Isles. The plant can be grown in a large crop and produces Plant Species Z Fruits that act as a flash-bang grenade. Contrary to its appearance, the wild variant isn’t dangerous at all. Moreover, standing near Plant Species Z causes it to glow and scare away all the dinosaurs that are scared of light. What interests us the most is its ability to restore a creature’s health just by standing near it.

How does this method work?

  • Find a Plant Species Z. For safety, you can search for the plant that spawns at 30, 35.
  • Place your injured dinos near the plant
  • Watch how their health is restored

4. Sweet Vegetable Cake

The Sweet Vegetable Cake is the perfect dish for healing your herbivores. It’s an efficient alternative of healing as it can be cooked quite early in the game (around level 36, when the Tree Sap Tap engram is available). Although it’s a complex recipe, it can restore 10% of the creature's maximum Health over the next 30 seconds. It is a delicious treat for the herbivores, but humans and carnivores tend to find its taste repugnant. The dish can be crafted in the Cooking Pot or in the Industrial Cooker.

How does this method work?

  • You need: 2 × Giant Bee Honey, 4 × Sap, 2 × Rockarrot, 2 × Longrass, 2 × Savoroot, 4 × Stimulant, 25 × Fiber, 1 × Water.
  • For this recipe, don’t forget to include in the Cooking Pot a Waterskin, Water Jar, or Canteen with at least 25% water.
  • Put the cake in the dinosaur’s inventory and it will automatically be consumed if its health drops below 85%. As an alternative, you can always force-feed your tamed dino.

3. Raw Meat/ Cooked Meat

Healing carnivores is essential, as they are fighters, with a considerable chance of getting hurt. Taking a dinosaur to a boss fight is no piece of cake and it usually requires some way of healing the brave creature. Cooked Prime Meat is the best option when finding yourself in such a situation. It can be obtained by cooking Raw Prime Meat (To get Raw Prime Meat, harvest the corpses of larger creatures) at a Campfire or Industrial Grill. Raw meat should also do the job, just a little bit slower.

How does this method work?

  • Harvest the corpses of dinosaurs to get raw meat.
  • Optional: Cook the raw meat
  • Force-feed your tamed carnivore the raw/cooked meat. Every raw meat should add 5 health points and every cooked meat should add 8 hp.

2. Snow Owl

The Snow Owl can be found in Extinction, Genesis: Part 1, and Genesis: Part 2 DLCs. It is a carnivore bird with amazing properties that include impressive healing for tamed dinosaurs. It has similar combat abilities to the Argentavis and can carry more than a Pteranodon. If the Snow Owl it’s injured, it can even freeze itself in order to heal. By freezing other creatures too, this amazing owl can regenerate their health at 40 hp per second, while decreasing its own stamina by 250 points per second.

How does this method work?

  • Tame a Snow Owl
  • Fly it next to your tamed dinosaur
  • Hold right-click. It will freeze the dino and heal it at the same time.
  • Check the health of the dinosaur. Tips and Tricks: If the Snow Owl has full hp, it will heal faster.

1. Daeodon

The Daeodon is by far the best healing method there is out there. These creatures travel in packs and form an almost indestructible mechanism of fighting. When in combat, they release a pheromone effect to restore the health of their allies. The Daeodon becomes essential after a boss fight and can be effectively used to heal any dino: it heals at a rate of (target dino's max health)*(0.005) hp/sec. One small setback though: while healing, its food level will decrease incredibly fast, so be prepared for a refill.

How does this method work?

  • Tame a Daeodon
  • Get the injured dinos close to Daeodon. If they are within range, the creatures pheromone should provide rapid healing
  • It can heal multiple dinosaurs simultaneously
