Why even bother to obtain this resource? It is incredibly useful as a crafting material, giving you the ability to create multiple items, from Jerky to Gasoline. To make a long story short, oil is as essential in Ark as it’s in real life. Now, how do you obtain it? It is stored in dark Oil deposits on the bottom of the ocean or in the Snow Biome. An alternative to collecting it from deposits is to kill specific creatures like Trilobites, Leeches, or Basilosaurus. They will get you decent amounts of Oil and some other surprises too. The last tip: if you are already past Mid-Game, get some Dung Beetles and create an Oil farm by placing Fences in their inventory. It’s that easy.
How it works:
- The easiest way to get oil if you are a beginner is to kill some Trilobites, so go on the beach, near the Ocean.
- Craft a Pickaxe
- Get into the water and search for some brown creatures with an exoskeleton
- Kill the Trilobites and harvest them with the Pickaxe to obtain the oil
