The Google Play Store is home to a wide variety of games. Here is a list of the 15 best horror games optimized for Android. Don't worry if you do not have an Android device, as I've also added the other platforms these can play on. Happy gaming.
15. The Baby in Yellow (Android, iOS, PC)
The baby in yellow is a babysitting RPG. It contains all the mundane tasks of babysitting, except for something, that just isn't right with the baby. The baby seems to be malicious, and as each night goes by, the baby gets more and more aggressive towards you. It is pretty immersive for an iPhone game, that baby is a trickster. This is a great casual game, and it's also great for binge playing. This game has a super user-friendly interface. Having my objectives on the main screen, easy to read, makes me more likely to play this more often.
14. Granny (Android, iOS, PC)
Granny is an escape room-style game where you wake up in granny’s house and must escape alive. This Granny isn't your nice sweet baking cookies granny. No, Granny is a fear-inducing, baseball bat-wielding fiend of a granny. Granny is sure to instill fear in any player, as she creeps up quietly and attacks you unawares.
13. Hello Neighbor (Android, iOS, Xbox One, PS-4, PC)
The story starts pretty mundanely until you hear something is amiss down the road. When you go to see what's there, you see your neighbor is hiding something in his basement. You must find out what the neighbor is up to. Seems pretty straightforward except that the neighbor is an adaptive AI and can learn from your behaviour. This gives the game a step above the rest. You must hide from the neighbor and break into the basement. Beware of getting caught, as you will certainly pee your pants.
12. Eyes: The Horror Game (Android, iOS, Switch, PC)
Right from the get-go, Eyes: The Horror Game starts great. You are a thief looking for treasure with monsters about. Find the money and avoid the monsters to stay alive. The foreboding music and the eerie mansion as you begin your quest are enough to send shivers down your spine. As the story progresses, you can see the amount of effort that went into the graphics and sound effects. Nothing was done to my character directly, and I was still terrified. Then there was the actual jump scares that seemed to come out of nowhere. Overall, this game is fantastic for a good scare and a good story.
11. Inside (iOS, Switch, Xbox One, PS-4, PC)
This game isn't technically horror however, it has frightening elements. Inside by Playdead is a third-person perspective rendering game with no written or spoken instructions. This thought-provoking puzzle game is shocking and eerie. As you don't get the 360 camera control to look around, you just get to see one angle of the playing field. It makes it that much scarier, as you don't know what, or who is up ahead. The story is shocking and intriguing and indescribable, earning it really great ratings.

To play Slendrina: The Cellar, you must wander a maze in search of books while avoiding capture. Stay alive and navigate the maze. This game has big scares with frightening scenes of capture. Don't play this game right before bed, but definitely play it at night. Fantastic graphics as Slendrina comes right at you. Frightening is an understatement. Slendrina moves so quietly that you barely even notice her until her glowing red eyes are right in your face, making your palms go sweaty.
8. Backrooms Descent (Android, iOS, PC)
Playing Backrooms Descent is pretty straightforward. Navigate through the backrooms to escape and get back to your family. There are dangers you must look out for to survive the tunnel. This game is so realistic with a realistic story. When you explore the dark abandoned back rooms, your imagination runs wild as you slowly make your way through the game. Encountering real-life dangers as opposed to monsters and ghosts is a nice shift to our list and also adds deeper-rooted anxiety to the gameplay.
7. Sara is Missing (Android, iOS)
Sara is missing. You must search through the data on her phone to solve the mystery. This sinister story is told through emails, text messages and anything else you can find on her phone. Sara is missing, has quickly become one of my favourite games for iPhone and I see why it has such great reviews. The idea of searching through clues on someone's phone makes me always want to leave some note on my phone about where I'm headed tomorrow, in case I forget my phone and go missing. It gives you something extra to think about long after you're done playing. I enjoyed that it turned my phone into Sara's phone and it feels like I'm actually holding her device instead of my own.
6. Insomnia- The Horror Game (Android, iOS,)
You start Insomnia and you're locked in your room in total darkness and must try to survive five nights while a creature is after you. Each level is an hour. 2. Horror Clown (Android, iOS,)
Horror Clown is based on Stephen King’s It and follows Bill as the clown comes back and kidnaps his friends. It is up to you, the player, to rescue them and stay alive. As soon as you begin exploring the house, it's immediately terrifying as you search for the various tools to help you, all while hiding from the clown. 1. Alien: Isolation (Android, iOS, Xbox 360/One, PS-3/4)
Following Amanda Ripley, 15 years after the loss of her mother Ellen on the space station, Sevastopol, as she explores the station, we discover we're not alone. Amanda encounters all the terror of the original Alien movie franchise. This game definitely provides the fear that has been so raved about. It's an excellent story with excellent graphics for its age. Games with long drawn-out lead-ups have me losing interest before I can get really into the plot. Not Alien, this game is quick to give us action and will have you on the edge of your seat right from the start.
