All Clash Royale Champions Ranked

Who will be the champion of the battlefield?

Clash Royale is always adding new ways to shake up the meta and the champions are here to help add a unique feature that no other card has access to! You as the player will have the ability to pop each champion’s unique ability, like Archer Queen’s Cloaking Cape, which allows her to turn invisible and rapidly shoot her bow.

Because of this, champions offer a new pillar of gameplay that no other card can offer. And while no champion is bad per se, some champions are certainly more powerful than others, and are still border line broken. (Looking at you, Little Prince.) So let’s take a look at all six champions and see which of them truly is the champion of champions.

6. Skeleton King

The Graveyard King himself!

Body Image

This big boney guy is as deadly as he is lonely, in fact the big bone can essentially summon a Graveyard whenever he pleases, or rather, whenever you please. At a cost of four elixir to spawn and two to activate his ability, you may be wondering, what is the Skeleton King’s ability?

Well, his ability is known as Soul Summoning. When Skeleton King is deployed, he’s ready to summon up to six skeletons to spawn overtime at ability activation. But isn’t that sort of… Weak? Well, any enemy troop that meets an untimely demise, regardless of whether or not Skeleton King is the reaper, will still harvest their ‘souls’ that he can thin put towards his meter bar that will put him up to sixteen skeletons at once.

He’ll need to collect only ten souls which is very easy when you consider you can just log a Goblin Gang and he’ll be at max Skeletons! His value is one of the best in the game. Pair him up with P.E.K.K.A or God forbid, Witch Graveyard, and suddenly even Mega Knight is struggling to keep up with the non-stop hordes. However, he requires very specific decks to function properly in a deck and pushes that you can get with him, such as Barbarian, Minion or Witch horde spam that you can get can be easily defeated with spells like Poison or Arrows, even Zap and Tornado really.

Even so, he absolutely shines in nearly all defensive positions and although he’s at the bottom of the list, he’s far from bad! In fact, he’s probably the most hilarious champion when you successfully get his ability off and take a tower.

5. Monk

Make Clash not Peace

My God the Monk himself is one of the most infuriating cards to play against as a Log Bait player or rather, any Rocket player in general. Why is this? Because of his ability; Pensive Protection, the ability to redirect projectiles back to the attacker. This ability is STILL one of the most broken and annoying in the game because it forces the opponent to rethink where they place their projectiles and projectile based cards and troops.

For example, most everyone places Wizard next to their Princess Tower to take out swarm pushes. Well if Monk is in that horde and OOPS, you don’t have Arrows, which Monk can also redirect, your Wizard is just going to keep shooting fire until he kills himself due to Monk’s misfortune redirect ability. Any projectile, Arrows, Fireball, Wizard, Ice Wiz, X-Bow, Archer Queen, Firecracker, if it shoots, it dies. On top of this, Monk in his Love Train mode can tank SEVERAL hits from P.E.K.K.A without so much as a scratch. In base form, he also pushes back heavy troops like Giant and disrupts attacking cards like Royal Giant or Hog Rider.

So, why at fifth place? It can be rather hard to predict Rocket spammers and spell cycles with him, as well as he’s quite gelatinous when he’s out of Love Train, er, uh, Pensive Protection. He dies pretty easily in one or two P.E.K.K.A shots and his ability takes FOREVER to get back so you have to cycle way back to him to get it and he doesn’t have any way to attack a tower and get any meaningful damage. Sure, you can just deploy him and activate his ability for free chip damage as the Princess attacks him, but at a cost of five elixir and one for his ability, is six really worth such mediocre damage?

Over all, while Monk’s heart and actions are utterly unclouded, he’s really only good in certain situations but even so, he still stands one of the most OP cards in Clash Royale!

4. Golden Knight

Your Knight in Golden Armor!

Essentially the Hercules of the arena, Golden Knight is essentially a heavier Bandit and a better one at that! With his impressive ability, Dashing Dash, Golden Knight is not only able to dash into heavy troops and towers with serious damage just like Bandit, but he’s also able to rapidly dash between troops and take out swarms with ease before attacking the heaviest troop or tower afterwards, all at your command!

Golden Knight also enjoys a tanky health buff and is able to tank P.E.K.K.A slices and Mega Knight jumps quite well! Skeleton Army and Goblin Gang also yield to the glory of Golden Knight. Another great exploit that Golden Knight players take advantage of is the fact he can always dash on a tower when an opponent defends with troops on their tower. However, it’s important to note that while Golden Knight will dash on the tower with a good amount of damage, he won’t start slashing until the troops attacking him are defeated and he’ll attack the heaviest troop rather than the tower.

He costs a cheap four elixir with an amazing one elixir cost for his ability. While this may sound like he’s a five elixir Bandit, you have to keep in mind that Golden Knight can be used as a mini tank, similar to Knight or Valkyrie, which means you’ll be able to save your elixir back for his dash, all while Golden Knight slashes any danger away.

However, he has a weakness like Samson and his hair. Golden Knight’s are Minions, Bats, Dragons and anything that flies. Maybe he’s not the champion we all thought he was, poor guy.

3. Mighty Miner

It’s him, the UNDERMINER!

Ah the Mighty Miner, the only guy who can melt a tower faster than any Inferno Troop could ever dream of doing. Now, you might be wondering what the mighty drill in his hand is for and if you can send him to the front lines of an enemy tower just like the Miner. Sadly, I’m afraid not. However, that drill is far more than for show.

Enjoying a luxury of buffed health, a four elixir deployment and a two elixir ability activation called “Explosive Escape”, oh and that awesome mustache, Mighty Miner is a card that wipes out any and every card in the game, well, except those with wings! P.E.K.K.A, Mega Knight, Golem, even swarms are no match against Mighty Miner since if he can’t take ‘em out with that drill, he’ll burrow to the opposite lane of the arena, so for example if you play him left side, he’ll drill to the right side on activation but not before leaving a bomb akin to the Giant Skeleton’s to bomb voyage his way out of trouble, taking care of Minion Hordes and other swarms MM cant handle.

God help your opponent if Mighty Miner starts drilling their tower because unless they have Zap to reset it, he’ll take out a tower in a fraction of a second and all your enemy can do is watch in horror.

Downside? Well, buildings pose quite the challenge since buildings placed in the center will always draw him no matter if he switches lanes. Plus, air troops can still take him out if you waste your Explosive Escape and good players will bait out escapes for easy takedowns.

2. Archer Queen

This can’t be, she’s the queen!

Image
Body Image

There’s a reason the queen was hated at launch and even hated to this day. Not only is she one of, if not the best defensive troop in the game, opponents will have to pay close attention to when you activate her signature ability, “Cloaking Cape.” As you can imagine, this ability turns her invisible, akin to the Royal Ghost, and she goes into rapid fire with increased damage.

She’s able to be played offensively, defensively and takes out the most popular pushes with ease. We’re talking Lumberloon Freeze, Golem, E-Golem, Hog and even Miner Breakers! She also is able to bring cards like P.E.K.K.A down to less than half health and can take out swarms, air and ground, with the flick of her cloak. There’s a reason she’s constantly reminding us that “She’s the queen!”

But unfortunately, even the royal queen here is not without her weaknesses. She dies to spells very easily and struggles against any decks with Lightning, Rocket or Poison and if a Mega Knight or P.E.K.K.A, even a Knight or Valkyrie, is placed on top of her, even if she goes invisible, she’ll still succumb to her weakness of close range carnage. So remember to treat her like a Princess, no, not an actual princess, (Even though she is one),  the card Princess, and do whatever you can do to keep her away from danger to keep her alive and get as much value as you can out of her. Because remember, she costs five elixir for a spawn and one for her ability! Use that elixir to your advantage!

1. Little Prince

Yes, he’s still as broken as ever

Image
Body Image

Was there really even a question? Supercell knew what they were doing when they released this little punk and they know what they’re doing with not nerfing him. Half the game is Little Prince and half the game is just constant Royal Rescues and spams. But players have a reason to use the King’s nephew after all.

At three elixir, Little Prince is an ideal replacement for Miss “I’M THE QUEEN”, considering he can start rapid shooting without the need for an activation. On top of this, he shoots faster AND deals more damage than the Queen and while he’s as weak as the Archer Queen, he can tank a Fireball and requires something heavier like Lightning to take him out. So, what’s his ability? Royale Rescue!

For three elixir, he already is a more valuable Archer Queen, saving half of what it would take for the Queen, but he has something far better than invisibility. He’ll spawn in his Guardian, a giant silver knight with a sword that can take on Mega Knight and pushes anything dangerous in front of the Prince away. All while the Little Prince keeps shooting with his crossbow to eliminate all danger before him while the Guardian keeps him safe.

So yes, while he’s absolutely busted, he can still be squashed by Mega Knight and one shot by P.E.K.K.A. However, for three elixir, even if the Little Prince dies, you’ll have to deal with his angry Guardian next and my god does he have so much health.
