Clash Royale Top Five Best Golem Decks
The heaviest and most gelatinous contenders of the arena!
So, what exactly are Golem decks? Well, Golem decks are decks that feature Golem or Elixir Golem! But there’s more than what meets the eye. For example, one should never use both of them at the same time. Why? Because only one can be your tank that protects troops in the back. Both are just messy and unnecessary. Second, most Giant decks can substitute Giant for Golem or Elixir Golem, so if you have a good Giant deck, say with great support like Firecracker or Lumberjack!
However, like all good things in life, playing Golem decks requires a lot of patience and skill, sometimes that means you’ll have to wait until the sixty second mark to start destroying and conquering. So if you’re looking to try out Golem or Elixir Golem and need an excuse to try one of these behemoths out, here’s five of some of the most fun and destructive decks in the game!
5. Golem Hut Beatdown
You’ll notice that most of these decks feature Lumberjack and that’s for a reason! He’s essentially a better knight in the fact he chops away at some of the heaviest troops in the game, including being able to stand up to Mega Knight, even able to chop away Royal Giants.
So, when playing anything with Goblin Hut, you’ll need to place it behind your Princess Tower so you can continuously get free damage on the opponent tower, weaken any buildings they place and ensure the opponent’s elixir is down. Because once your Golem is placed, you’ll be at a serious elixir disadvantage! Thankfully, most players panic at the sight of one being placed down and won’t capitalize on offense, rather defense so they won’t have to deal with your Golem shenanigans.
Once you start building elixir, in both single and double, you’ll be at around six elixir if you play your Golem at ten and in the back. Night Witch is your best bet to start placing and if you have him, Lumberjack is your next best choice. Cards like Wizard or Firecracker will be defeated quite easily with Poison and they won’t even be able to damage troops behind Golem because he’ll hand any and all splash damage, granted he’s around a tile away from them.
As for defense, you’ll have some of the best available! Mega Minion and Flying Machine prove to be a seriously deadly combo that can put nearly every push out of commission! Wizard or Minions bothering you? Splash them away with Poison! Even Inferno Tower doesn’t stand a chance with so much spam pushing forward and that handy dandy Zap spell offers a pretty great evolution if you have it!
4. Golem Ghost
Other than that, you’ll find Royal Ghost has replaced your Flying Machine, which offers a cheaper alternative in a ground troop which can offer a cheaper way to cycle back to the Elixir Pump. Seriously, it’s almost impossible to lose with a double elixir advantage and even more so at the sixty second mark. Now, once the spam gets going, you’ll have upwards of three ghosts, Lumberjacks chopping away and Night Witches with two Golems spamming the opponent into oblivion.
As for defense, your opponent really can’t get through. The only threat you might have is Ram Rider or Hog Rider but with Zap you can easily reset any charges to ensure nothing reaches your tower. Between this and Golem Hut, it really depends on how aggressive you want to play. Want to really beat down your opponent? Play Golem Ghost! But if you’re a patient Golem Master, try Golem Hut.
3. Elixir Golem Hut Heal
What Golem tier list would this be without a classic E-Golem deck? Seriously, this deck is a menace at defense and is a great support deck for 2V2’s. Your defense, as the generator suggests, is indeed godly.
This is because of your Barbarian Hut, Electro Dragon and Tornado. It’s absolutely hilarious to see your opponent struggle with getting troops across the bridge when Electro Dragon is constantly stunning them, Tornado pulling them back and Barbarian Hut distracting them! Like all the other huts too, Barbarian Hut is another spawner that essentially plays the game for you by getting free damage and forcing the opponent to play elixir, giving you an advantage to save for a devastating push.
Though be careful with your Elixir Golem, don’t play that just because you feel like it, you’ll screw yourself over by giving your opponent free elixir. Listen, the key to successful Golem pushes is to tank your hits. This means if you have to lose your tower in order to get a big push, lose that tower and DON’T EVER use an Elixir Golem as a defense tool! You’ll only prolong the inevitable by just handing your opponent free elixir, if you have to lose a tower, lose it and save for a big push!
With Barbarian Hut constantly annoying your opponent though, you really shouldn’t have to worry about being down elixir and God help your opponent if you get a massive push on them at zero, there’s literally nothing they can do with three dragons being healed and a monstrous Elixir Golem absolutely devouring their tower.
2. E-Golem Skeleton King Night Witch Raged Barbarians
Besides the ridiculously long name, E-Golem, er, uh, the rest, has some of the best silliness and meme potential of the decks here! So, Jelly Spam is usually played with Battle Healer but you’ll notice the lack of any such medic on your team. This is because for this special deck, you’ll have to rely on Elixir Golem as a double elixir troop leading the charge!
Get ready for some gummy goodness with E-Golem leading the charge! Put down Night Witch with a Flying Machine and those two alone will be tough for any opponent to defeat. It’s important to note, however, that most of your troops can be defeated with a sole Fireball so it’s important to bait out such spells, especially Poison which can defeat your push before it really gets out of control.
The key to success here is to really get things going on the defensive before placing E-Golem up front to tank for your troops in the back. If done successfully, even a deployed Mega Knight won’t be an issue as your Night Witch and Flying Machine can eliminate him with ease, especially with Rage!
You’ll notice the Barbarians, a card that recently got an evolution! Seriously, your opponent just loses if you have Raged Barbarians and because they’re so easy to cycle to, at just one cycle, you’ll have the angry pink Barbarians aiding you all the way until victory.
1. Golem Clone

What Golem tier list is complete without Classic Golem Clone? It was hard debating between this and another hilarious Elixir Golem deck but in all honesty, Golem Clone has been around since forever and it wouldn’t do Clash Royale justice without adding this infamous deck to a Golem tier list.
So, what is Golem Clone and how do you use Clone? Lots of people use Clone in just the wrong ways. Like Golem, Clone requires lots of patience in order to play properly. Playing Clone when your push is still at the bridge or when you barely have spam down is a serious way to get yourself canceled or punished. What you need to do is play defensively, get your opponent down on elixir and attack when the time is right.
Seasoned Golem Elitists will play Golem first play and while this is a powerful strat and a hilarious one, if you’re new to Golem or can’t keep a level head under pressure, DO NOT PLAY GOLEM FIRST PLAY! You’ll have to know what your opponent has and the counters for your Golem they might have possession of. You can do this by cycling Lumberjacks and Dragons or even Skeletons to get them low and reveal their decks.
Now that it's Double Elixir and you know what your opponent has, it’s time to play your Golem. Now, if an opponent starts charging the opposite lane, try not to defend it. Remember, Golem Clone can easily hold three crowns so one lost tower won’t hurt. However, don’t be stupid and just let them three crown you! Lastly, ensure your opponents counters are out of their rotation and once your Push is around two tiles away from the tile, pop that Clone and take the W. Well, the triple W’s!
