The Grau is one of the pioneer guns of Warzone. There was a time when everyone was running a Grau loadout in Verdansk. The challenge to unlock the gun is pretty hard, especially now that the Plunder mode is removed. You have to get five kills in one minute, 25 times.
The Grau had fallen out of the Meta in Warzone after introducing the Cold-War weapons. This had been the case for a while until the recent Modern Warfare guns buff! Many YouTubers and streamers booted up the game and tested the new potential of the MW guns, and many settled on the Grau!
The once fan-favourite, Grau 5.56, is back with a bang, and here are the top 5 loadouts you can make!
1. Metaphor’s Grau 5.56
Metaphor is a Warzone YouTuber with over 300k subscribers. In his video, he discusses the buff many guns received after the Season 5 update.
Metaphor shared a relatively solid Grau build, which does not resemble the older meta (from the Verdansk era). The gameplay is excellent, showing how much the Grau has improved after the buff. The gun is back and hits hard with this build.
Primary Weapon: Grau 5.56
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: Tempus 26.4” Archangel
- Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Magazine: 50 Round Mags
Secondary Weapon: 1911
- Muzzle: M1929 Silencer
- Barrel: Cooper Full-Auto
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Trigger Action: Rapid Action
- Magazine: .45 ACP 24 Round Mags
- Ammunition: Hollow Point
- Rear Grip: Fabric Grip
- Perk: Akimbo
- Perk2: Quick
Perks:
- Cold-Blooded
- Restock
- Combat Scout
This loadout is focused more on mobility and quick gun fights. The Grau is built to hit at long and medium range and let’s be serious now: the 1911 full auto is broken anyways. With the close quarters and long range covered, this loadout is an all-rounder.
2. Frizzeyes’ loadout
Frizzeyes is another Warzone YouTuber with over 350k subscribers. His video shares an insane build for the Grau focused around low-recoil.
This Grau build I am about to show you resemble the Grau from Metaphor. The build is similar; the magazine type and the secondary are different! Check the build-out for yourself and get your PR!
Primary Weapon: Grau 5.56
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: Tempus 26.4” Archangel
- Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Magazine: 60 Round Mags
Secondary Weapon: RA 225
- Muzzle: Recoil Booster
- Barrel: Moravec 18” Needle
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Stock: Moravec MB
- Underbarrel: M1941 Hand Stop
- Magazine: 9mm 44 Round Drums
- Ammunition: Lengthened
- Rear Grip: Taped Grip
- Perk 1: Momentum
- Perk 2: Quick
Now there is a slight problem here! Frizz does not show the build for the secondary (RA 225). The RA 225 I shared here is a great build and a personal favourite! Apart from that, the Grau is from Frizz.
3. The ‘Warzone #1 Grau’ by Chainfeeds
Okay, so this one is one of my favourites. We all know that the Grau is a viable AR and is back in the meta. But did you know that Grau can be used as a good SMG? Well, check this build out by ChainFeeds!
Primary Weapon: Grau 5.56
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: FSS 20.8” Nexus
- Stock: No Stock
- Underbarrel: Ranger Foregrip
- Magazine: 50 Round Mags
Secondary Weapon: H4 Blixen
- Muzzle: Recoil Booster
- Barrel: Bergstrom 17” F3
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Stock: Removed Stock
- Magazine: 7.62 Gorenko 54 Round Mags
- Underbarrel: M1941 Hand Stop
- Rear Grip: Grooved Grip
- Ammunition: Subsonic
- Perks: Fleet & Quick
This Grau build is one of the unique ones on the internet. The Grau is being used as an SMG and can fry! I mean, what else do you need? It has low recoil, the movement speed is good, the time to kill is also low, and the fire rate is closer to an actual SMG than an AR.
Unfortunately, ChainFeeds does not show the secondary for this one. However, I can suggest the H4 Blixen be used. The only reason is that this entire loadout is built around close combat, and it does not make sense that you use the Grau as an SMG and then get another AR into the mix. It’s best to have two SMGs working.

4. Chuck’s Grau build
Chuck is a well-known Warzone YouTuber with over 850k subscribers. He also made a video about the Grau and how it has returned to be meta again. The build is similar to the other Grau builds I have shown. The only difference is the secondary weapon: Ots 9.
Primary Weapon: Grau 5.56
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: Tempus 26.4” Archangel
- Optic: VLK 3.0x Optic
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Magazine: 50 Round Mags
Secondary Weapon: Ots 9
- Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
- Barrel: 8.1” Task Force
- Rear Grip: Serpent Wrap
- Stock: KGB Skeletal Stock
- Magazine: VDV 40 Rnd Fast Mag
This combination of the Grau and the Ots 9 will bring you joy and success. The movement speed is phenomenal, and all map areas are covered. You can run this build in almost all variants of the game!
5. Hero’s ‘HBRa3’ Grau
Hero is one of the upcoming Warzone YouTubers, and I like the builds he shares on his channel! He made a video where he shares a Grau loadout; to be fair, it is a great shout. Here is the complete loadout!
Primary Weapon: Grau 5.56
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: Tempus 26.4” Archangel
- Laser: Tac Laser
- Underbarrel: Commando Foregrip
- Magazine: 60 Round Mags
Secondary Weapon: Marco 5
- Muzzle: Recoil Booster
- Barrel: Botti 240mm VL
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Stock: Perfetto Esatta
- Magazine: 8mm Nambu 64 Drums
- Underbarrel: M1941 Hand Stop
- Rear Grip: Taped Grip
- Ammunition: Subsonic
- Perks: Momentum
- Perk 2: Quick
This loadout is a bit different from others: there is no optic. Hero uses the Scarab blueprint from the in-game store, which is the only reason this loadout is in the last place. You must purchase the bundle to make it work as Hero does.
The build is good, and the Marco 5 support comes in clutch at tense moments.
