There aren’t as many weapon quests in Destiny 2 as there once were, but those that still remain are pretty good. Regardless, there’s nothing like coming to the end of a long quest to be rewarded with a powerful relic of the Light, capable of beating back the forces of Darkness. I’d certainly prefer that most of the exotics in the Monument to Lost Lights be re-delegated to questing. But I guess we’ll have to make do with what we have already: here are the top ten best Quest weapons in Destiny 2.
10. Salvation’s Grip
How to get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXzUyS8FZXs
I know what you’re about to say: “bUt GhAltA THaT’s SuCh a memE wEapON lol”. I beg to differ for two reasons: one, the exotic mission where you obtain the gun is pretty funny with the ghost’s Drifter impression (among other things). Plus, Salvation’s Grip is the one necessary weapon for making longer-than-necessary jumps and game breaking exploits. It’s pretty much trash in every other respect, but no other gun can do what this one does.
- Good for climbing
- Standard fare for glitching
- Sucks in every other way

9. Malfeasance
How to get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1d44JZB5Zo
Not a bad weapon by any stretch of the imagination, but 180s are still not the best for Crucible dueling. I think it has its little niche in PvE where people can appreciate its intrinsic Anti-Unstoppable abilities, and the quest has a fun bit of lore attached to it and reveals a bit about the Drifter’s past and that of Shin Malphur, The Man With The Golden Gun.
- Good for Gambit and Taken PvE
- Intrinsic Unstoppable
- Being a 180 holds it back

8. Parasite
How to get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUWCDy7F5M0
Who doesn’t want a Hive God’s worm parasite encased in a grenade launcher for you to shoot at the minions of the darkness? I sure do. The quest is equal parts fun and reward for me, but Parasite isn’t a top-tier option for DPS. It’s in a pretty weird spot as far as a role is concerned, but I wouldn’t sleep on it.
- Fun quest
- Decent weapon
- Worm-blasting power fantasy

7. Forerunner
A very fun weapon indeed. When I was just getting back into Destiny 2, I thought that I’d try out a few of these exotic quests, and Forerunner was by far my favorite gun back then. This was in a long break between the tail end of Destiny 2 Forsaken and Season 15, when I was less concerned with how good my weapons were and more concerned with how the weapons felt. Forerunner was a really fun gun, and still is, in my opinion.
- Easy quest
- Good in Crucible
- Halo Magnum for nostalgia points

6. Divinity
How to get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAVCtzE4-9M
Calmly ignoring the recent drama with Divinity’s nerf, (I swear some of ya’ll are still salty. Get over it) this weapon is still going to be relevant after said nerf. The quest isn’t really hard (except for the hellish last step that makes you feel as if you’ve gotten your hands on a true nugget of gold once you’re done), and the gun is mandatory for Rhulk in VoTD.
- Ultra-versatile, good in any PvE activity
- One in every raid race
- Gives less-skilled players a role

5. Riskrunner
How to get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7s4jeRml-o
This one is like Salvation’s Grip in that it really only has one job, but it has far more utility than that Stasis-shooting piece of garbage. The quest is super simple and introduces new players into the power fantasy of exotic weapons. It’s available for F2P players, so anyone can access the quest after you’ve completed the New Light experience.
- Versatile
- Makes you all but immune to Arc damage
- The more damage you take, the better this gun gets

4. Dead Messenger
How to get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap56VOJ88zk
This weapon’s a menace in the Crucible for one reason only: the wave of pure destruction this bad boy shoots out is three times the size of any other wave frame grenade launcher. Some might argue that that’s a bit broken (especially when combined with a certain warlock melee), the quest for this one is super simple and definitely worth going for.
- Giant waves of destruction
- Element change
- Simple quest

3. Xenophage
How to get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EGPjPkuE3k
Xenophage was the first of the high-damage, slow-firing machine guns, and it’s a great all-round weapon like the Gjallarhorn: great for Gambit, good boss DPS, fine add clear. A lot of speedrunners like it for its pure melting potential, but it still falls short of the glory it once had.
- Fun yet challenging quest
- All-round good weapon
- Fills a variety of roles

2. The Lament
How to get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8sBxPRaddU
This is what you get when you couple a powerful, cool weapon with a fun quest. I really enjoyed the lore behind this quest, especially the Lost Lament book. Lament, however, is a great weapon not only for its anti-champion abilities, but also its pure, RAW DPS output and ability to cheese Riven. This is another “high-fun” gun for me like Forerunner as, so I’d pick it up if you have the time.
- Looks darn cool
- Solid DPS
- Easy quest

1. Gjallarhorn
How to get it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZSzP9y5JH4
Gimme a break. This weapon BROKE the internet, time and time again. If you want a good laugh, I encourage you to go look up Gjallarhorn drop moment reactions. It’ll make your day. But when you get THE BEST all-purpose rocket launcher in the game, complete with an easy quest that only involves you going through the the most entertaining dungeon in the whole game, I’d say you should go for this gun.
- Simple quest
- Default exotic heavy for any circumstance
- Supports teammates with legendary rocket launchers
