One of the first decisions you get to make in Detroit: Become Human is to choose the difficulty level of the rest of the game, as it sounds like a pretty easy decision to make, but it will alter the whole gameplay experience for you, this is one of the most intense games I ever played as it is, so let’s explain the two difficulties in Detroit: Become Human before you dive in deep into the fantasy world of androids.
#. Casual Difficulty
Sometimes you just need to lay back and relax, and you don’t want to add more tension to your mind than what life had already thrown at you, this is the perfect difficulty for you to choose then, you just lay back and enjoy the narrative of this story-driven game, enjoy the beautiful graphics and the well-written plots, and also the emotional empathy and depth for the characters.
And also, after your first run of the game either on the casual mode or the experienced mode, I recommend that you start over again in casual mode to navigate and investigate the other possibilities of decision and figure out other endings, no need to tense yourself up more than once!
How It Works
1. It focuses on the storyline and not gaming challenges
2. It simplifies all controls, like if you play Detroit: Become Human on your PlayStation 4 you will only use the X command or the O command in most cases
3. It gives you more time to think about your decisions
4. It gives fewer chances for you to kill off one of your characters
5. It makes all Quick Time Events (QTE) much simpler with more time
6. It removes the intense motion control
7. It tends to be more forgiving on decision making
8. removes time limits on certain missions
Choose This Difficulty:
1. If you want to enjoy the storyline of the game without the tension or stress associated with Quick Time Event (QTE)
2. If you want more simple controls during the gameplay.
3. If you don’t want to lose characters this will guarantee much fewer chances to do so
4. If you don’t want to melt under the pressure of some events
5. If you want simplified combat prompts.
6. If you need elaborate stick commands
#. Experienced Difficulty
This is the challenging route for the game, if the hard decisions and the possibility to kill off one character at any point of the game and alter the ending that you are seeking from the beginning wasn’t intense enough for you, then this was made for you, a perfect balance between actually challenging tasks and missions, and a beautifully written storyline, you will get the best of both worlds, and I recommend for your first run to be on the experienced difficulty, just to get the whole experience, and here is a little trick I used to do, whenever I got stuck in a quick time event and can’t do it in time, I just reset the whole chapter on casual mode and then change it back after I achieve me desired outcome!
How It Works
1. It combines the beauty of the storyline and the amazing thrill of the gameplay
2. It makes controls a little more complicated but not to the point it makes it confusing
3. You now have less time to make altering game-altering decisions so better not think twice!
4. All Quick Time Events (QTE) need your full focus as it has less time and more controls
5. It adds one of the most amazing features of the game which is a motion control, as you control characters by actually moving the controller physically
6. Adds time limits on some missions which adds to the thrill
7. Less forgiving in decision making and you can kill off a character easier
Choose This difficulty:
1. If you want more challenging controls and immersive gameplay
2. If you like high risks as mistakes are less forgiving and losing a character is super easy
3. If you want a shorter time to make decisions for the sake of the thrill
4. If you want to super focus on the game since some things will change future events in the game and you might miss them
5. If you want to depend on the motion sensitivity of your controller for some actual physical movements
6. If you want to enjoy Motion Control as it’s only available in this difficulty
You can always change the difficulty if you ever get stuck in any QTE or if the intense fast decision-making isn’t your cup of tea, after all the only purpose of this game is your enjoyment, but if you want my advice, you need to go through Detroit: Become Human at least once on the experienced difficulty just for the experience.
