The main reason he is great for safe lane support is his first ability, Decay, which allows him to deal damage and steal strength from enemy heroes. After he’s stolen enough strength, he can burst them with Soul Rip, making him a constant threat for enemy offlane heroes.

He can also heal his party for a large amount, which can potentially turn fights around. Another great thing about Dirge is his Tombstone, which, if not focused in team fights, will almost always lead to a victory due to the damage and slow from the zombies.
