The ANA Tactical Rig is a class 4 armoured tactical rig that is a common yet decent mid-wipe armour. This armour can be crafted in the hideout starting at lavatory level 3, and traded at Ragman level 3. Mobility is slightly restricted with this armour and is quite useful considering that armoured rigs are a hybrid between armour and tactical rigs. Tactical rigs allow players to keep magazines, ammo, and other items out of their backpacks to save inventory space.
What the ANA M1 Tactical Rig excels in:
- Affordable mid-range armour that is good for money runs. Considering the fact you pay just over 100,000 rubles for armour that will protect you against the majority of ammo types. While at the same time allowing you to store items and take non-backpack extracts with your items still in inventory.
- It is an armour of decent material that doesn't heavily restrict your movement.
- Is highly accessible due to the Ragman level 3 trade.
- Very returnable from insurance due to demand from other players being rather low. Therefore, no one will go out of their way to pick up one of these rigs.
Choose ANA M1 Tactical Rig if…
- You want to do money runs without spending too much of your current account.
- You want decent protection and extra storage space for runs.
- You want to look good while raiding with the M1’s very chunky yet attractive design.
4. NPP KlASS Korund-VM body armour
NPP KIASS Korund-VM body armour stats/properties
- Type: Armour vest
- Weight: 9.8kg
- Material: Armour steel
- Armour class: 5
- Armour zones: Thorax and stomach
- Durability: 45
- Penalties: -9% movement speed/ -9% turn speed/ -5% ergonomics
The Korund-VM is a class 5 body armour that is a very common mid-to-late wipe. This armour can be traded with Prapor at level 3 for an approximate value of 125,000 rubles. This is a very insurable item due to how many slots it takes up in inventory, making it undesirable to other players due to its profit per slot. The overall players' movement will be affected by this item at the cost of extra protection. In addition, the repairability of this specific armour is very efficient.
What the Korund-VM excels in:
- Protecting your entire torso against ammunition types up till level 5. Since, this armour covers the thorax and stomach.
- Being very effective in terms of repairability and insurability.
- Being accessible around the middle of wipe from Prapor.
Choose Korund-VM if...
- You want affordable level 5 armour.
- You are looking to have a dark themed character for night raiding.
- You want to save money in the longer term through insurance and repairs.
- You don't mind the movement restrictions.
3. 6B13 M modified assault armour (Tan)
6B13 M stats/properties
- Type: Armour vest
- Weight: 7.5kg
- Material: Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene
- Armour class: 5
- Armour zones: Thorax and stomach
- Durability: 60
- Penalties: -4% movement speed/ -3% turn speed/ -2% ergonomics
Killa's self modified 6B13 M armour is a class 5 body armour that can only be obtained by killing Killa on Interchange. This item is not purchasable in any way, nor are you able to sell it at the flea market. For level 5 body armour, the 6B13 M is not as restricting in terms of movement as the number 4 spot on this list and is at the same time more durable. However, it is not as repairable. Regardless, this armour is top notch.
What the 6B13 M excels in:
- Protecting your entire torso against ammunition types up till level 5. Since, this armour covers the thorax and stomach.
- Being one of the coolest armours in the game.
- Higher protection, less restriction, in comparison to its counterpart the 6B13.
Choose 6B13 M if…
- You want to dress like Killa, and be just as scary.
- Be heavily protected at the same time as being frighteningly fast for having level 5 armour.
- You kill Killa; the armour is one of his lootable items.
2. 5.11 Tactical Hexgrid Plate Carrier
5.11 Tactical Hexgrid Plate Carrier stats/properties
- Type: Armour vest
- Weight: 7.7kg
- Material: Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene
- Armour class: 6
- Armour zones: Thorax
- Durability: 50
- Penalties: -4% movement speed/ -2% turn speed/ +0% ergonomics
The 5.11 Tactical Hexgrid Plate Carrier is one of the game's top contenders for best armour. Standing at an armour class of 6, the Hexgrid is a meta armour and becomes more noticeable later in the wipe. However, I have had my fair share of encounters with players wearing this incredible armour and at the same time finding hexgrids in raids early wipe.
The only downside to this level 6 armour is that the area that it protects is limited to the thorax. However, the thorax is the most common area to be wounded in Tarkov. If you are searching for protection, at the expense of movement restrictions, get a 6B43 6A Zabrolo-Sh body armour. The reason for the absence of this armour on this list is simply due to the limitations caused by the armour making it undesirable to the majority of Tarkov players.

What the Hexgrid excels in:
- Being a lightweight, decently durable, and minimal limiting body armour at class 6.
- Protection against more than most ammo types.
- Being uncommon and only can be found in-raid.
Choose the Hexgrid if…
- You want to be fast and heavily protected in the most commonly wounded area of your character's body.
- You are embarking on a Labs raid (or similar raid).
- You can get your hands on one.
1. LBT-6094A Slick Plate Carrier
LBT-6094A Slick Plate Carrier stats/properties
- Type: Armour vest
- Weight: 9.7kg
- Material: Armour steel
- Armour class: 6
- Armour zones: Thorax
- Durability: 80
- Penalties: -5% movement speed/ -2% turn speed/ +0% ergonomics
The Slick Plate Carrier is by far the best armour in Escape from Tarkov. The reasoning behind this choice is simply due to the availability of this armour mid-to-late wipe. Similar to the Hexgrid, you can find this armour in raids. At an armour class of 6, the Slick is considered to be the meta armour. If you can afford to trade with level 4 Ragman for this armour, I would recommend using the Slick armour in raids where you would require its superior protection. Sadly, this armour only protects the thorax area but gives more durability than the Hexgrid at the expense of a slight movement reduction.
What the Slick excels in:
- Availability from trading with Ragman
- Providing heavy protection and good mobility for top-notch PMCs
- Dark colour for night raids
Choose the Slick if…
- You can invest a decent sum of money for high quality armour
- You aim to use a meta loadout
- You are embarking on a Labs raid (or similar raid).
