[Top 10] ESO Best Classes To Play Right Now (Ranked)

A guide on the best classes to play right now ranked good to best.

One of the most difficult things when starting out with a new game, or even one you have played before is trying to decide what type of character you are going to play. I am going to go over what I think are the top ten best classes to play in ESO right now and why.

10. Magicka Warden

The Magicka Warden came in number ten on the list. It is an average class that offers the player an easy character to learn how to play and is pretty average in damage it does. Magicka Wardens, while they tend to be a bit squishy in solo play, have great crowd control with their AoE abilities. In addition to this if they use the Eternal Guardian that can go a long way with passive damage and pulling some of the aggro away from you.

Having a pet to help you in gameplay if you choose

Want an easy character to learn

9. Stamina Sorcerer

Stamina Sorcerers are a fun class to play. They offer a lot of benefits but are probably not the best class to pick if you are a new player as they can be a bit tricky to learn. If you spec to have the skill Critical Surge you will have a pretty decent amount of self-healing. In addition to the healing, they are strong contenders with AoE damage and defense along with good maneuverability with the Hurricane skill.

8. Stamina Templar

Stamina Templars are a great well-rounded class. They offer the ability to play the game with ease. The downside to this class is they do not have the survivability of other classes which is why I ranked them number eight. They are able to deal a lot of damage with both their Single target and AOE attacks. While they don't have any attacks that heal with damage done they are strong healers with their Repentance and Restoring Focus skills.

7. Stamina Necromancer

The Stamina Necromance is a great option if you primarily play in a group. They lack the strength in solo play that other classes have. They are a well-rounded class for those that just enjoy playing the game. Stamina Necromancers have the ability to do an insane amount of AoE damage. One of my favorite skills in this class is the Beckoning Armor which brings ranged enemies that attack you to you, it's fun to watch and very helpful in gameplay. In addition to that, it creates a corpse when the effect is finished which in turn helps fuel your Mortal Coil skill for decent healing.

Having multiple race options that work well

6. Magicka Dragonknight

In the past, the Magicka Dragonknight would have been at the bottom of my list. But with recent changes to the game, it has moved up quite a bit in the list. It still lacks the ease of play area though. As a class that has strong AoE and DoT’s they are able to hold their own in both solo and group play. Two of the best skills in my opinion of the Magicka Dragonknight class are the Ferocious leap and Standard of Might. These two skills are what make it a strong contender in my opinion for solo play.

5. Magicka Sorcerer

Magicka Sorcerer is a great class for new and seasoned players. They tend to be easy to learn and are a strong class to play as a solo player. Some of the things that make it an easy thing for new players is the ability to have pets like the Volatile Familiar and Greater Storm Atronach, helping you do damage so you as the player can focus on other things when needed such as healing yourself. Having a strong shield with Hardened Ward is also another benefit of this class that puts it strongly ranked 5th.

4. Magicka Necromancer

The Magicka Necromance is a strong class coming in at number four. They are hard hitters The downside to this is that the skill rotation to achieve this can be a little difficult to learn for some players. Much like the Stamina Necromancer a lot of their skills need to have a corpse on the ground to be able to use them. They are able to clear content quickly with their strong AoE damage abilities while having high survivability and good resource management with skills like Mortal Coil and Mystic Siphon. Difficulty aside they can be a very fun class to play.

You want a character that can do a lot of damage quickly

3. Stamina Dragonknight

Stamina Dragonknight comes in at number three. They are very strong solo players and great tanks. This class is one of the easier to play, and one of the harder classes to kill in-game. One of the main reasons that I put the Stamina Dragonknight at rank three is because of their very strong shield abilities in addition to strong AoE and DoT damage. The Skill Burning Embers is one of my favorite skills for this class which not only does DoT but also heals you for a percentage of the damage done. These things combined make them a pretty difficult character to kill.

You want to play with a two-handed weapon
If you like the flexibility of solo or group play
You want a class that can take damage and still be standing to give more.

2. Stamina Nightblade

Stamina Nihgtblades come in second as the best class to play. They can be a little tricky to learn how to play. Even with that, they are a strong contender because of the damage they deal and the healing they are able to do. The Dark Shade is a great skill for this class which summons a shade version of yourself that not only does damage but also lowers the enemy’s damage done by 15%. Power Extraction is another skill that really sets this class apart, much like Dark Shade both doing damage and also debuffs the enemies. Rally offers a great self-heal for this class in addition to helping with Stamina recovery.

1. Magicka Templar

Magicka Templars come in number one for me as the best class to play at this time. They are easy to play even if you want to play solo. It is fairly easy to learn the best rotation to play. The two skills that Magicka Templars have that are most notable for me are Puncturing Sweep and Radiant Glory. What I love about both of these skills is that they not only do a great amount of damage, but both of them also heal you at the same time. When you add in Channeled Focus which gives you strong Physical and Spell Resistance in addition to healing And Magicka recovery this is why I feel that Magicka Templars are the number one class at this time.
