It's dangerous to go alone… take this. It might be quite the serenity to go the verse without weapons. In Everspace 2 you'll be hard-pressed to do much without a good blaster by your side.

Everspace 2 has a large selection of weapons to choose from. Each will enhance a player's playstyle as they progress through the game. It can be intimidating to see all the options. I’ve compiled a list of 10 weapons that I have encountered in Everspace 2.

Everspace 2 - A space shooter with RPG elements

After the tutorial mission, you will be given your Nemesis-B9 Sentinel. This medium fighter class ship is one that you’ll get to know quite well for the first sections of the game. Until you can do enough jobs to upgrade the weapons and the ship to something that fits your style.

The main types of damage in Everspace 2 are energy and kinetic. The 3 types of health in Everspace 2 are good to understand when choosing a weapon. The shield is the outward health it is affected most by energy damage. Armor is the inner health and it is affected most by kinetic damage. The Hull will be affected by both Energy and Kinetic. You can use most types of weapons on ships, picking the right one to be most effective will help you later in the game.

First Weapons - Nemesis B9

High-Velocity Pulse Laser

  • 15 Kinetic DPS
  • 55 Energy DPS
  • 1700m Range
  • Feature Energy-based shield

Autocannon

  • 72 kinetic DpS
  • 18 Energy DPS
  • 1150m Range
  • Feature Mid-range rapid-fire projectile cannon

Homing Missles - Secondary

  • 75 Kinetic Damage
  • 30 Energy Damage
  • 2000m Range
  • Feature Common assault missile. Tracks targets.

You'll use these weapons until you can get to the first spaceport to upgrade or you might be lucky and find better weapons during combat or salvage operations. Finding new weapons in Everspace 2 is sometimes random. Some main or side quests might get you better gear.

For this top 10 list, we'll split the list into 5 primary weapons and 5 secondary weapons. This list will comprise weapons that I have found most effective during my play of Everspace 2.

More information on the stats of the weapons of Everspace 2 can be found on the Everspace Wiki. There's a whole list of the weapons, their stats, and much more info.

Explosive times ahead - Everspace 2

Primary Weapons

Pulse Laser

  • 15 Kinetic Damage
  • 55 Energy Damage
  • 5.0 Fire Rate
  • 1700m Range

This was the first weapon you were given in the game. It fast became my go-to weapon for cruising through Everspace 2 It’s decent for taking out shields with its energy damage output. With later mods, this damage can increase quite a bit.

Flak Cannon

  • 35 Kinetic Damage
  • 17 Energy Damage
  • 1.4 Fire Rate
  • 2200m Range

The Flak Cannon doesn’t get a lot in the way of fire rate, or damage output even with upgrades. What it does have is explosive discharge upon impact. Dealing with area damage. This is great for clearing out mines.

Thermo Gun

  • 12 Kinetic Damage
  • 36 Energy Damage
  • 12.0 Fire Rate
  • 1500m Range

The Thermo Gun is an interesting weapon to get used to. You don’t have to be a good shot to use it as it has homing projectiles. This low-energy efficient weapon with a high spread is great if you need to go in guns blazing with a lot of smaller targets to take out.

Gauss Cannon

  • 53 Kinetic Damage
  • 75 Energy Damage
  • 15.0 Fire Rate
  • 1200m Range

A heavy-hitting weapon, the Gauss Cannon has a decent balance between kinetic damage and energy damage. Once I found a decent one the Gauss Cannon replaced my pulse laser pretty quickly. I noticed decent energy use with this one as well.

Jaeger

  • 25 Kinetic Damage
  • 48 Energy Damage
  • 5.0 Fire Rate
  • 1800m Range

The Jaeger is a variant of the pulse laser. It increased kinetic damage and less energy damage for a balanced DPS. A key element when you don’t want to be switching between weapons so often.

BOOM! - Everspace 2

Secondary Weapons

Homing Missile

  • 80 Kinetic Damage
  • 35 Energy Damage
  • 2.0 Fire Rate
  • 1500m Range

I have spent much time with homing missiles in Everspace 2. They’re handy to take out drones or evasive ships. If you can get a good angle they do decent damage on structures but they will take a straight angle to the structure. This means that if there’s an object between you and the target the missile will hit the object, not the target. I noticed Homing Missiles are the easiest to craft from scrap. Not a lot of extra stuff is needed to build them. This can be handy out in the field.

Shieldbreaker Missle

  • 0 Kinetic Damage
  • 90 Energy Damage
  • 1.0 Fire Rate
  • 2000 Range

Shieldbreakers are great for taking down a shield quickly. This is especially useful against big capital ships that you need to take care of. It does have a tracking system on it similar to the homing missile. It’s all energy damage so it may do okay on a hull, it’s designed specifically to take out shields.

Scorpion Missiles

  • 80 Kinetic Damage
  • 0 Energy Damage
  • 0.8 Fire Rate
  • 2500 Range
  • Corrosive

Scorpion missiles carry corrosion with them. This is a damage type that deals shield bypassing kinetic damage over time. It’s convenient to help deal with multiple types of damage while the corrosion is taking its effect.

Mines -

  • 55 Kinetic Damage
  • 45 Energy Damage
  • 1.0 Fire Rate
  • 1600 Range

Mines are a strategic secondary weapon. If you are in a bind and have enemies chasing you, or you know where they’ll be placed, a few mines can be devastating to enemy ships. When the opposing ship gets close enough they explode dealing their burst damage. Mines are also handy if you are being chased by someone and you can’t easily turn to face them forward arc.

Web Mines

  • 20 Kinetic Damage
  • 0 Energy Damage
  • 1.0 Fire Rate
  • 1600m Range
  • Webbed

Webbing in Everspace 2 causes a condition of slowing enemy ships. Web Mines are great if you need to get away and are done with the fight. When it explodes it deals damage but inflicts the webbing effect onto the enemy ship, slowing them down.

Exploring strange new locations well defended - Everspace 2.

Gear can be random levels increasing its damage output, energy use, range, and more stats. Finding the right combination means you’ll have to get out there and explore the vast universe of Everspace 2.

There's my favorite weapons used in Everspace 2. Swapping out of weapons between fights is not uncommon. Depending on what the situation calls for. How will you defend yourself in the vast of space?
