10. Overseer’s Camp

Nothing like an abandoned camp, free to use.

This is where the game leads new players that follow the main questline. The Overseer’s C.A.M.P. is a premade campsite, with everything to get you started. You can place you own C.A.M.P. near it.

Why Overseer’s camp is great

  • You can save up on crafting components early in the game.
  • Crafting stations, stash box, random loot available, sometimes dropped by players.
  • Sleeping bag, to get the Well Rested perk.

How to get to Overseer’s camp

  • Follow the yellow mission marker on your map.
  • South- east of Vault 76, close to Flatwoods Lookout and Slocum Joe’s.

9. Route 94

Stop by for some ice cream.

Lady Janet’s Soft Serve, or a random spot in the forest? Whether you pick the diner full of loot, or a private place, get ready for some low-level enemies.

Why Route 94 is great

  • The enemies that spawn don’t cause a lot of trouble. Level 5 scorched sounds better than a level 50 scorched beast.
  •  If you place your C.A.M.P. in the forest, there are locations close by, ready for your looting.
  • Lady Janet’s Soft Serve, besides the loot, provides a chemistry workbench.
  • The daytime in the forest is very beautiful. Take advantage of the lighting and show your settlement off to your friends.

How to get to Route 94

  • Go north of Vault 76.
  • Follow the path marked 94 on your map.

8. Gilman Lumber Mill

Perfect for wooden builds. Lumberjack protectrons gather chopped wood and keep you company. Hope you don’t mind being far from the action though!

Why Gilman Lumber Mill is great

  • No need to scavenge for wood, there’s a lot for you to harvest.
  • You can place water purifiers on a pond, north-west of the building.
  • A tinker’s workbench and a lot of loot left in the main building

How to get to Gilman Lumber Mill

  • Head south of Vault 76, past Moonshiner’s shack.
  • Nearby locations are Vault 76, Wixon homestead and Flatwoods lookout.

7. Morgantown Station

All aboard! Or not. The trains stopped working a while ago.

Doing quests is the fastest way to level up in Fallout 76. Place your C.A.M.P. close to Morgantown for endless daily XP.

Why Morgantown Station is great

  • All train stations double as a trading post, where you can sell your unwanted loot in exchange for caps. The Responders protectron vendor here sells plans, ammo, armor, food, aid and misc items.
  • A C.A.M.P. near the city means fast access to events, which when completed give you rewards.
  • Though this area is full of enemies, their low-level means defeating them isn’t difficult.

How to get to Morgantown station

  • East of Vault 76, next to Morgantown Airport.

Why Silva Homestead is great

  • This is a preexisting farm. You can use the workbenches there, loot the buildings, collect food.
  • Corn and razorgrain are food needed to craft certain recipes. Both of them grow here, ready for the picking.
  • Razorgrain grows a bit north of the homestead.
