The Monk is a Melee Battle Job that specialises in their own fists and kicks instead of using a fancy weapon.

Monk is a Melee DPS that has been in the game since the early days of A Realm Reborn. Players will start out as a Pugilist at level 1, before finally switching to become a Monk at level 30.

As a DPS, a Monk’s main duty is to, of course, deal damage to the enemies. However, a Monk also has some abilities and skills that can be used as a party utility, allowing them to have other uses than just dealing pure damage.

For that reason, this article will feature ten of the best skills that Monks often use for various reasons, be it damage, party utility, or boosting their own damage.

10. Mantra

A video describing the Mantra skill and their uses.

Mantra is the first ability to be featured in this article. It is a support ability that also serves as party utility.

Why Mantra is Great:

  • It is an ability skill that when used, will provide a buff for the Monk and their nearby party members that will increase HP recovery via healing actions by 10% for 15 seconds.
  • Because of this, it can be a very useful ability to be used when there is a lot of healing needed, for example during multiple raidwides. It will help the healers in topping up the HP of all party members faster.
  • In addition, it is also an ability that can be weaved in between the Monk's GCD attacks, meaning that the Monk does not have to worry about interrupting their combo and can just use Mantra in between executing their combo instead.

The next ability skill to be featured in this article is Riddle of Wind, another support skill that is crucial for the Monk.

Why Riddle of Wind is Great:

  • Riddle of Wind is an ability skill that will grant the Monk a buff upon use, which will reduce their auto-attack delay by 50% for 15 seconds.
  • This will allow a Monk to be able to land more auto-attacks, therefore contributing even more to the damage dealt by Monk to the enemies.
  • In addition, just like Mantra, Riddle of Wind can be weaved in between GCDs and will not interrupt the Monk's main combo. It is a very useful support skill that is most often used when the party buffs are up.
