Top 10 Games Like Days Gone (Games Better Than Days Gone in Their Own Way)

Games Like Days Gone
No hate. If anything, I'm just talking about things to love on top of what you already love.

What Are The Best Games Like Days Gone?

Now, this is not to say Days Gone is a bad game in any way. If anything, I’m looking to praise the game for its contributions to the zombie survival horror genre.

However, you can only play one game for so long. If you’ve got the itch to survive the horde, here are ten games that give you that similar feeling, but manage to excel in their own special ways.

10. The Last of Us

The Last of Us Gameplay

The Last of Us puts you against zombies and humans alike as Joel, a smuggler who is tasked with escorting a teenager named Ellie from Texas to Massachusetts. Battle through tragedy and non-stop danger as you make your way through the countryside.

  • Gripping story, memorable cast, and genuine acting
  • Fluid control and gameplay, balancing wit and firepower to progress
  • Creative and threatening monsters

Terrible threats: You’ll have quite the horde to deal with. Sometimes you won’t know how to handle them.

Serious drama: Learn to love the characters in this game as they paint you a vivid picture of life in the zombie apocalypse.

9. Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus Gameplay

It’s been twenty-five years since nuclear war destroyed the earth. You, Artyom, and your team of rangers are headed east through the Russian wasteland to find a better way to live. Experience a year of post-apocalyptic travel in this sandbox survival epic.

  • Freedom of choice, many paths to explore
  • Grand story with fleshed out characters
  • Intense gameplay and frightening sequences

Bearly hanging on: As soon as you think everything’s okay, you’ll have something bigger and angrier to deal with.

Top tier firepower: Find inventive guns that always have their use in different situations.

8. State of Decay 2

Big boy: The bullet-to-the-head convention is so last century. Now you really have to make every shot count against these more imposing types.

Boom! Strategy: Thankfully, that’s why we’re able to think on our feet. We can always set traps to take out multiple zombies in one blow.

7. Dead Island

Dead Island Gameplay

You and up to three others are caught in the middle of a zombie infestation on the tropical island of Banoi. Use your varied abilities to bust through the undead hordes and find a way off what you swore was paradise.

  • Brutal, in-your-face gameplay
  • Enchanting RPG elements and a rewarding level system
  • Open world, plenty to explore

Big and bad: Everyone’s invited to party at Banoi, which means you’ll see a wide variety of “people” here. Some of them are prime selections to become your least favorite enemies.

Visceral fight: You can have a zombie breathing down your neck if you don’t watch out. Keep on your guard and watch your ammo.

6. Dying Light

Dying Light Gameplay

You’ve been tasked with delivering supplies to the quarantined city of Harran. Unfortunately, as soon as you got there, you were ransacked, and now you have to try and find a way to escape. Plow and leap your way through the city as you deal with tight corridors and high rooftops.

  • Fluid movement and parkour system
  • Seriously threatening enemies
  • Impactful and dynamic combat

High up: You’ll spend most of your time on the roof. Zombies aren’t always capable of making it up there, but make sure you’re ready for them regardless.

Gotcha: Every battle might be another chance for the zombies to take you down. You might want to run more often than you’d think.

5. Resident Evil 7

Resident Evil 7 Gameplay

  • Filthy and terrifying sequences
  • Consistent dread-filled atmosphere
  • Memorable cast and comforting b-movie humor

Wasting your time: Jack Baker wants you dead so bad. He will keep coming, no matter what you do to try and put him down.
