The Best Horror Games  JackSepticEye has Played

15. Inscryption (PC, PS-4/5)

Inscryption plays as a card game with a hostile dealer. As you play, mysteries unfold, and you learn more about the strange dealer. It’s nice to get a change of pace from the first-person shooters I've been playing. This game was extremely creepy. I had lots of fun playing Inscryption.

14. The Convenience Store (PC)

The Convenience Store is made by the same developers as, The Closing Shift. As such, they both follow the same spooky rhythm. You play as the clerk working the night shift at the convenience store. The player must make it through the shift to beat the game. This game is as good as The Closing Shift, if not even better. Chilla’s Art did an outstanding job with these games. They produced a great quality scary game.

 13. Locked up (PC)

Locked up is a psychological thriller that really plays on the definition of insanity. Set in an old Victorian-era home, you must try to make it out alive and with your sanity. As you explore the same corridor, again and again, previous objects that you couldn't interact with become available. The objects move, appear and disappear. This game isn't a fast-paced, run-for-your-life horror. It's a lot more in your head and it's almost more fear-inducing because you don’t know what could be in the same room you just left. I felt afraid often, and I felt myself trembling throughout this game. It is frightening, and I enjoyed playing it.

12. Siren Head (PC)

Siren Head is a first-person survival horror, set as the player embarks on an off-grid camping trip. As you wander through the forest looking for a way out, you experience the terror brought on by the sound of screams and the sound of Siren Head’s sirens. The analog graphics of this game add to the creepy feeling. It's that feeling that keeps you on edge. It seems like out of nowhere, Siren Head comes for you. This game is terrifying.

11. From The Darkness (PC)

Receiving great reviews on steam, From the Darkness is a psychological horror where the player explores his deceased grandfather’s abandoned soviet apartment. This game plays in first-person, which paves the way for a really immersive gaming experience. As you look about, you notice strange things happening around you. Your goal is to confront what lurks in the dark and make it out alive. I love quick play games that give you a thrilling ride of a time.

10. Try to Fall Asleep (PC)

Try to Fall Asleep follows the player, John Herrin, who is trying to recover his memories after suffering severe brain damage. There is only one way to discover what happened before the accident. While asleep, your brain can unlock the secrets of your unfortunate life. While still suffering from the damage, you experience hallucinations and it's terrifying. Try to Fall Asleep is straight nightmare fuel. The work AmberDrop put into this game is exemplary, and they deliver a great horror experience.

9. Boris and The Dark Survival (Android, iOS, PC)

Boris and the Dark Survival is a survival horror game. It is a spin-off from Bendy and the Ink Machine by Joey Drew Studios. In this game, you play as Boris, one of Bendy’s cartoon companions. As he seeks to escape the abandoned studio. You must search the studio for supplies and avoid everybody’s favourite ink demon, Bendy. Bendy will hunt you and if he finds you, well, no one survives Bendy.

8. The Visitor (Android)

The visitor is a point-and-click-styled game. You are playing as an alien parasite and must consume living beings to grow and dominate the entire world. The visitor starts slowly. You're minuscule and you must devour bigger life forms and grow as the game progresses. It's not a scary horror where monsters chase you. The Visitor is a chilling horror because you play the monster in each scene. This game is excellent with the high-quality cartoon style and gruesome imagery.

7. Fears to Fathom (PC)

Fears to Fathom is a psychological horror released episodically. Each episode is a short story told by the survivors of the horrific events. Watching the stories play out makes you super anxious as you feel immersed in the character’s story. I really enjoyed playing this game. I hope you give each episode a shot. Each one is different and worth its play-through.

6. S.C.P: Containment Breach (PC)

SCP Containment Breach is a survival horror game that follows the story of an inmate at a prison facility called S.C.P (Secure, Contain, Protect.) The player is a convict incarcerated on death row. The SCP Officials offer you a deal to take the specimen locked in SCP-173 for testing. You must not break eye contact and complete the mission. If you succeed, you will successfully escape confinement. This attempt at freedom unleashes a fresh horror to lurk in your dreams. As what dwells in container 173 is a sinister creature. Unleashing it puts everyone at risk. It is an exceptionally well-done story.

5. Poppy Playtime (PC)

Poppy playtime centres around the player exploring an old toy factory. Poppy playtime is an escape-centred game where you must solve puzzles to find the way out. However, you can’t get caught. The creatures that jump out at you will give you a genuine fright. It's a great game to play if you haven’t already. Poppy Playtime has fantastic graphics that will no doubt give you a shiver.

4. Night Watch (PC)

Night Watch is a horror game developed by Puppet Combo. They released this fantastic thriller on their Patreon. Night Watch follows the story of a park ranger who has to look out for lost hikers or fires from a look-out tower deep in the forest. As you watch over everything from the top of the tower, strange things happen. Can you survive what hunts in the forest?

3. Iron Lung (PC)

Iron Lung is a horror game set within a tiny submarine at the bottom of the ocean. Employees refer to the submarine as the iron lung. The player is one of these employees, trapped under the ocean in a one-man vessel. There are things you must find as you explore the map and use your navigation system to discover what lurks beneath the surface. The claustrophobia you feel from being so confined in the iron lung is super terrifying, especially if you experience a fear of enclosed spaces.

2. The Mortuary Assistant (PC)

1. Five Nights at Freddy’s (Android, iOS, Switch, Xbox One, PS-4, PC)

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a survival horror that takes place in a twisted version of Chuck-E-Cheese. There is evil animatronics that makes your visit truly terrifying. These animatronics are straight out of your nightmares. The goal is to survive five nights with the crazy animatronics after you. Do not get too close or it'll be the end. This game is so fun. The graphics are fantastic.
