Kingdom Hearts III Worlds List
With Kingdom Hearts III on its way to release this month a steady stream of trailers have revealed many worlds Sora and friends will be visiting. Some of the most exciting features Kingdom Hearts has to offer are it’s Disney movie environments, world specific companions, and themed abilities. The trailers have shown us old worlds that have been updated and new ones to explore. Sora will be returning to old friends and meeting new ones on his final journey to protect the light.
#1 San Fransokyo
San Fransokyo is the futuristic home of Hiro Hamada and his robot companion Baymax. This large cityscape has plenty of airspace to whizz through the sky on baymax and fight heartless on the rooftops. Sora, Donald, and Goofy will be assisting the Big Hero 6 team to stop the heartless infestation, and be likely to help defeat the main antagonist of the film Robert Callaghan, also known as Yokai. With the help of Big Hero 6 and Hiro’s nanobots Sora will have no trouble at all bringing light back to yet another world.
#2 Toy Story
Pixar has finally been introduced to the Kingdom Hearts series! Sora, Donald, and Goofy have all new action figure designs to join Woody and Buzz Lightyear in this fun filled world. So far we’ve seen Andy’s room, a front yard, presumably of Andy’s house, and Pizza Planet. According to Tetsuya Nomura there are two weapon transformation phases themed for different Keyblades. For example the Toy Story Keyblade ability will start as a giant hammer, then turn into a drill. During the gameplay preview, giant yo-yos and other Keyblade-specific attacks also charged battles with even more color and craziness.
#3 Port Royal
Fans have been ecstatic over the reveal of the Pirates of the Caribbean world. This world is a lot darker than where Sora’s usual shenanigans takes place. Seeing Sora match his surroundings was a much needed change for this world to be coherent. The boy stuck out like a sore thumb in Kingdom Hearts II. Pirates of the Caribbean has always had a reputation for being a symbol of Disney’s darker side, so plan to see some darker themes to go with it. Pirate ship battles with cannon balls flying through the air, boarding heartless infested ships, underwater battles, and sky battles, there’s nothing they left out in the fun department for this world. Square Enix certainly has outdone itself since we’ve last seen Jack Sparrow in Kingdom Hearts.
#4 100 Acre Wood
What would Kingdom Hearts be without our beloved honey obsessed bear? Winnie the Pooh has been Sora’s very special friend since the series kicked off and they’re not done playing together in the Wood quite yet. They’ve even added a new friend, Lumpy the Heffalump. Winnie the Pooh and friends have returned for a world full of cute mini games to play. We get a sneak peak in the trailer of Sora playing what looks to be a version of a Bubble Breaker type game with flowers. We also see Sora using a Pooh themed ability where honey bee shoots forth from his Keyblade (It’s a bee made of honey! Haha what a funny pun.)
#5 Arendelle
Of course Frozen will be in Kingdom Hearts! Who could think they’d leave out such a popular Disney movie? Hopefully Sora can help Elsa overcome her fear of her ice powers and save Anna’s life. From this photo we see some new Frozen inspired Heartless such as a reindeer and possibly a heartless version of the snow monsters Elsa created. Sora also has some icicle weapons and skates on as he slides over a frozen pond. But where is his jacket? He must be freezing out there.
#6 Olympus Coliseum
Every installment of Kingdom Hearts has managed to make the Coliseum bigger and better. This was one of our first peaks into what they had in store for us.. Olympus demonstrated perfectly how this will be the biggest Kingdom Hearts game yet…. Literally. Exploring Olympus itself is quite a big step for this world considering how small it was in Kingdom Hearts I. Kingdom Hearts II added the Underworld, and Birth By Sleep added a town square, but this is far more than either of those. Each world seems to be big enough to be it’s own game in itself. The debut of Olympus Coliseum also showed some new gameplay mechanics that’ll be utilized. Wall running has been added, and the magic train Sora rides around the lava titan opens new doors for other theme park rides to use in battle.
#7 Chirithy’s Mystery World
This world is a bit of a nameless enigma as far as the other ones go. This is one of the only non-Disney worlds we’ve seen besides Twilight Town so far. It has a very geometric minimalist look to it. All the structures are white and the ground is a made of reflective water blurring the lines between sky and land. Everything looks very pure and heavenly. For those of you who haven’t played Kingdom Hearts Union Cross (I highly recommend it’s a free mobile game) Chirithy is the name of the cat seen in the picture above. There are speculations about this world being some kind of sleeping realm where Ventus’ heart lies, but we’ll just have to wait and see won’t we?
#8 Corona
Who else better to have fighting by your side than a feisty princess with the longest hair in the world? Rapunzel and Flynn Rider join Sora in the battle against darkness with frying pans firmly in hand. The Tangled world has a very new aspect we’ve rarely seen in Kingdom Hearts save for Destiny Islands and Twilight Town. There are random npcs populating the world. Sora is seen dancing with the townspeople in a minigame. Suddenly the worlds don’t feel empty and lifeless anymore.
#9 Twilight Town
Ah yes the home world of Roxas world has returned. This quiet little town is where fans were first introduced to Roxas and his friends Hayner, Pence, and Olette. One of our first sneak peaks of gameplay was Sora being chased by a horde of heartless through the twists and turns of Twilight Town. Something interesting is going on in this world. The break in the wall that leads to the abandoned mansion just outside town has been bricked up. We seen Sora confronting Ansem in front of the mansion later on. I wonder what that’s all about...
#10 Monsters Inc
The gang transforms into a band of ugly yet cute monsters to blend in with the crowd in Monsters Inc. If Boo caused a riot in the monster world imagine what one more human would do, and a teenage human at that. Vanitas has joined the Organization donning their recognizable black coat and demands Sora reunite their hearts together in this world. We also see some more game mechanics like Sora using Mike Wazowski as a bowling ball for one of the new companion moves.
#11 Mysterious Tower
Master Yen Sid, the owner of the Mysterious Tower, has probably seen more Keyblade wielders come through his doors in the past couple years than he’s seen in the last hundred. Maybe he can shed some light about this mysterious black box everybody is after. He’s trained Mickey, Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Axel now. It’ll be interesting to see how Axel and Kairi work together as a duo. There have been scenes where the player is playing as Riku, so there is more than one confirmed playable character. Could we possibly get to play as Axel and Kairi too? I hope so.
