League of Legends: How To Build Items

Purchasing items gives your champion a power boost whenever you’re in base for when you come back to lane or jungle by either improving their statistics or adding additional effects that augment their playstyle. With the item rework and shop UI change at the start of Season 10, mythic items and the addition and removal of certain items can be a challenge for new or returning players. 

 

Item components are built into full items. For example, if you're playing an AD champion, a common item to purchase is a pickaxe for 875 gold, which gives +25 AD. The pickaxe can be built into several items, such as Ironspike Whip, Blade of the Ruined King, or Kraken Slayer.

 

The shop has several interfaces that take some time to get used to. Players will first see the Recommended Items tab with 3 items that the game suggests building. More experienced players will opt for the tab names “All Items” or “Item Sets” for a pre-built list. The left hand side contains potions, wards, elixirs, and boots.

 

Building Items

Step 1: While in game, open the shop by clicking on the gold button below your inventory, or pressing “P”.

Step 2: Left click an item you wish to purchase to see what components are built into the item.

Step 2: Right click to purchase. You can undo a purchase by clicking on the undo button found on the bottom part of the shop.
