Naruto characters are among the most spectacular we've seen in animation. But I know you've always argued with your buddies over who was the strongest. Well the wait is over, let us dive straight into Naruto's most powerful characters. (Warning: this contains spoilers.)

15. Kabuto Yakushi

I have every ability there is! No one can touch me! Your fate was already in my hands

Kabuto began as a little, nerdy character who we ignored, but before we knew it, he was betraying the Leaf and fighting the legendary Sannin. We had no idea he had been living a double life as a ninja spy, gathering information and killing people.  Yet, Kabuto was not only able to reproduce the Second Hokage's forbidden reanimation jutsu, but also he enhanced it. 

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kabuto used Sage Mode to control a very large-scale reanimation jutsu.

Why Is Kabuto Powerful?

• Worked directly with Orochimaru on countless experiments, and only God knows what else
• He perfected a forbidden jutsu made by the Second Hokage and then used it to attack the whole Ninja world.
• He learned and honed Sage Mode on his own and remained in it throughout the Fourth Great Ninja War.

14. Might Guy

If you want to be free from your suffering, make up your mind. If you give up on your dream, you will suffer more

Guy is remembered as the ninja who always talked about the power of youth, as Kakashi's rival, and as the Blue Beast of the Hidden Leaf. Guy's behavior, as well as the signature green overalls he wears 24 hours a day, make you wonder how he's even a Jonin. As the story progresses, we watch Guy fight for the people he loves, face one of the Akatsuki, and go into an all out battle with Madara Uchiha.

Why Is Guy Powerful?

• Kakashi considers him a rival.
• One of the few Jonin who could protect the leaf from Orochimaru's attack.
• Even Itachi stated that he was not looking forward to confronting Guy.
• He fought Kisame (the Monster of the Hidden Mist) and survived to tell the tale.
• Opened the Gate of Death to fight Madara (which turned him into what would be left after a Thanos snap, but Naruto brought him back to life).

13. Kakashi Hatake

Don’t look away… When you live like a Shinobi, this is how it ends

Kakashi began as an arrogant child, but this was because he was considered a genius by many. His father was known as the White Fang of the Leaf and was acknowledged as one of the greatest shinobi in history. Kakashi was already performing special ops missions as a teenager. 

Later in life, Kakashi earned the nickname "The Copycat Ninja" for allegedly copying over 1000 jutsu. He also helped train two of the world's strongest shinobi.

Why is Kakashi Powerful?

• Chunin at 6, Jonin at 10, and joined the ANBU Black Ops at 13.
• One of the few people with a Sharingan who is not of Uchiha ancestry. Unlocked the Mangekyo Sharingan 
• Trained Naruto and Sasuke 
• Use two Mangekyo Sharingan to create a Susanoo 
• Helped save the world

12. Orochimaru

The Only Hope The Prey Has From A Predator

This crafty character was up to no good for the majority of the series. Orochimaru was usually involved in bad news, whether it was attempting to destroy villages or joining terrorist organizations. Don't get me wrong, he was once a decent person because he was one of the original legendary Sannin of the Hidden Leaf who helped win the third great ninja war.

However, this does not excuse some of the outrageous things he did in order to achieve such levels of power. However, it was because of him that Sasuke went in search of power, which is what truly started the show in the first place.

Why is Orochimaru Powerful?

• In the Second and Third Great Ninja Wars, he fought and won
• Studied and researched every forbidden jutsu known to man
• created a way to live on through the body of another (so he could research more jutsu).
• Joined the Akatsuki
• Capable of using Sage Mode
• Member of Anbu Black Ops
• Trained Sasuke

11. Jiraiya

Rather Than Rule The World Through Pain... I Wish You Moved Past The Pain And Harnessed Your Power To Bring About Peace In A Positive Way

Jiraiya was similar to Naruto in many ways: he was always getting into trouble, being screamed at, and trying to cut corners wherever he could. Fortunately, he grew up to become one of the most powerful people to come from the Hidden Leaf. Jiraiya's abilities, from toad summoning to sage mode, speak for themselves. Pain only beat Jiraiya because he jumped him, in my opinion (it was six to 1). Jiraiya was important in Naruto's development into the outstanding character he becomes at the end of the series.

Why is Jiraiya Powerful?

• One of the original Sannin of the Hidden Leaf
• Mastered Sage Mode
• Trained Nagato, Konan, and Yahiko
• Student of the Third Hokage
• Trained the Future Fourth Hokage
• Trained Naruto (at times when he was in his Nine-Tails cloak form)
• Author of Make Out Tactics (not really a reason but Kakashi would agree)

10. Nagato/Pain

Knowing Pain Controls One's Words And Thoughts

Nagato began as a young, poor orphan (due to the war) until Jiraiya came upon him and his two friends. To begin with, Nagato has Madara's Rinnegan eyes, therefore he was already on a level much beyond others from a young age; yet, Nagato despised violence. The Six Paths of Pain were created as a result of his best friend Yahiko's death and manipulation by Obito.

After Naruto knocked him around and used his Talk No Jutsu on him, Nagato used his powers to bring everyone back from the dead, but at the cost of his own life.

Why is Nagato/Pain Powerful?

• Possessed the Rinnegan
• Unlike #12, the hidden leaf was successfully destroyed.
• Controlled six bodies at once.
• Able to bring back to life all of those killed in the Hidden Leaf during his attack using the Gedo Art OF Rinne Rebirth Jutsu

9. Killer Bee

When I transform into my true form, a beast you must meet, yeah. Cower before the power of the beast

Killer Bee demonstrated his strength early on and was able to be chosen as the eight-tailed Jinchuriki. He is the Fourth Raikage's younger brother and the protector of the Village Hidden in the Cloud. Bee was the only eight-tails Jinchuriki to make his tailed beast fully work with him after defeating the giant animals on the Island Turtle. 

Bee's ultimate goal is to become a rapper.

Why is Killer Bee Powerful?

• Eight tails Jinchuriki
• Took on TAKA (Sasuke’s Akatsuki group) by himself while writing a rap
• Samehada (one of the Seven Swordsmen's blades) decided to stay with Bee
• Fought against other tailed beasts during the fourth great ninja war.
• Perfect link when doing tailed beast transformation

8. Minato Namikaze

If a man hasn’t discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live

Minato was regarded as a generational prodigy; he excelled in school and rose to become the fourth Hokage at the age of 21. Minato was known as the Hidden Leaf's yellow flash across the ninja world; no ninja was faster than him. He designed the Rasengan in order to make his own version of the tailed beast bomb. 

Minato married Kushina Uzumaki and had Naruto Uzumaki. He was able to lock half of the Nine-Tails chakra inside himself before dying, and the other half in his infant son.

Why is Minato Powerful?

• One of the youngest Hokage’s
• Created the Rasengan
• During the third great ninja war, he took on 1,000 ninja and won
• Stopped the Nine-tails from destroying the village Hidden in the Leaf
• Sealed the Nine-tailed fox into himself and Naruto 
• Student of Jiraiya
• Learned the second Hokage Flying Raijin jutsu and perfected it

7. Obito Uchiha

I have no interest in the affairs of the world soon to end

Obito was a Uchiha clan member who desired nothing more than to become Hokage. Unfortunately, a failed mission led everyone to believe Obito had died, yet he survived having the left side of his body crushed. He spent years underground, being trained by Madara Uchiha, before emerging to the world as Tobi/Madara, the masked man, and eventually becoming the Ten-Tailed Jinchuriki, who nearly destroyed the world before helping to save it.

Why is Obito Powerful?

• Madara Uchiha was his mentor.
• Attempted to destroy the Hidden Leaf (these people never learn)
• Took on the Fourth Hokage (and suffered a loss while he was alive).
• Started the fourth great ninja war
• Unlocked his Mangekyo Sharingan
• Became the ten tails Jinchuriki

6. Itachi Uchiha

It is not wise to judge others based on your own perceptions and by their appearances

Itachi was a true genius from the start; he had perfect grades in school, graduated early, and was even able to join the ANBU Black Ops. Unfortunately, one of his undercover missions called for him to assassinate the entire Uchiha clan. He slaughtered everyone, including his parents, but chose to keep his younger brother Sasuke alive. 

Itachi became known as an international criminal as a result of this, and he eventually joined the terrorist group known as the Akatsuki. Later in the series, Itachi and Sasuke fight to the death, and he dies as a result of it (Sasuke only won because he was already sick). Itachi was reanimated during the fourth Great Ninja War, both he and Sasuke were able to stop Kabuto and put an end to the Reanimation Jutsu. 

It may not seem like it, but Itachi is the show's unsung hero.

Why is Itachi Powerful?

• Youngest ever to join ANBU Black Ops at the age of 11
• Awaken his Mangekyo Sharingan at 11
• Promoted to ABNU captain at 12
• At the age of 13, he massacred his entire clan.
• Join the Akatsuki at 14
• Hunted down Jinchuriki
• Stopped the Reanimation Jutsu

5. Madara Uchiha

The world is nothing but a game of balance. There’s always going to be bad in order to balance out the good

Everyone portrays Madara as the villain, although all he actually wanted was peace. He and Hashirama  were childhood friends who created the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Along the way, he was influenced and fed false information that formed his beliefs about how to achieve a peaceful shinobi world. 

Madara was the legendary leader of the Uchiha clan; he used Obito to resurrect himself years later, becoming the ten-tailed Jinchuriki, and nearly succeeding in his plans during the Fourth Great Ninja War.

Why is Madara Powerful?

• Leader of the Uchiha Clan
• Went head-to-head in an all-out battle against Hashirama more than once (but lost every time)
• Took on the Five Kage by himself and won
• Killed thousands during the fourth great ninja war
• Unlocked his Rinnegan right before he died. And planted them in a child in order to resurrect him later.
• Co-created the Village Hidden in the Leaves

4. Hashirama Senju

Whereever your live, there will always be war

Hashirama is widely regarded as one of the world's greatest shinobi. He aspired to create a world free of violence and bloodshed as the leader of the Senju clan; it was this desire that drove him to make peace with the Uchai clan and establish the Village Hidden in the Leaves. Hashirama was the village's first Hokage, a position he accepted with pride. 

Anyone who posed a threat to him or the state of his village had to be dealt with, which resulted in the last fight between Madara and himself.

Why is Hashirama Powerful?

• Unrivaled levels of Chakra
• Wood release Jutsu
• Mastered Sage Mode
• First Hokage and created the Hidden Leaf
• Leader of the Senju Clan
• Fought and defeated Madara Uchiha to protect the Hidden Leaf

 3. Kaguya Otsutsuki

Again... I, the ancestor of all chakra... am defeated by these scattered chakras... Why!!??

Kaguya was known as the "Mother of Chakra" since she was the first person in the Naruto universe to obtain Chakra after eating the fruit of the God Tree. She later gave birth to twins, with whom she shared her chakra. She later gave birth to twins with whom she shared her chakra. 

Hagoromo and Hamura were the first two to be born with chakra. However, she later desired to reclaim the chakra from her sons. This led to a months-long war that altered the entire landscape for thousands of miles. 

She was resurrected during the Fourth Great Ninja War, only to be sealed by Naruto and Sasuke.

Why is Kaguya Powerful?

• Mother of chakra
• Used the Infinite Tsukuyomi for the first time
• Became the ten tails Jinchuriki
• Can move herself and anyone around her to one of her six dimensions (one of them is just a sea of acid)
• She can absorb any Jutsu that is thrown at her.
• Possesses both Byakugan and Rinne Sharingan
• Created Black Zetzu who was manipulating everyone in order to carry out his plan to bring her back

2. Sasuke Uchiha

If That's How It Is, I'll Just Have To Sever That Bond

Sasuke is the Uchiha clan's sole survivor. After his older brother Itcahi slaughtered the clan and only left him alive, Sasuke sought all means of improving himself in order to kill his brother. Sasuke betrayed the Hidden Leaf, then trained with Orochimaru before joining the Akatsuki. 

Finally, he confronted Itachi at the Uchiha hideout and killed his brother. When Sasuke discovers the truth about his brother's life, he decides he wants to be Hokage, but first he must erase the world of the past. This sets up the dramatic final showdown between Sasuke and Naruto.

Why is Sasuke Powerful?

• Last surviving Uchiha and unlocked his Mangekyo Sharingan
• Able to create perfect Susanoo
• Trained and then killed one of the original Sannin (Orochimaru, who later resurrected).
• Can use all five chakra natures (earth, fire, wind, water, lightening)
• Unlocked the Rinnegan in one eye
• Amaterasu (black flame that doesn’t go out until the target is ashes)
• He was able to stop the reanimation jutsu with the assistance of his brother.
• Was given the powers of the Sage of the Six path (for a short time during the war)
• Seal Kaguya away with the help of Naruto.
• He fought Naruto for the outcome of the world (and lost but it was a phenomenal fight)

1. Naruto Uzumaki

If you don’t like your destiny, don’t accept it. Instead have the courage to change it the way you want it to be

Naruto is the child of a prophecy the Great Toad Sage said would bring about a significant change in the ninja world. Despite the fact that Naruto had a difficult childhood, everyone hated him because the Nine-Tailed fox resided within him. He grew up alone, wondering why everyone rejected him. 

Throughout the series, Naruto learns how to deal with his own hatred and how to help others. Naruto was able to stop Gaara and Shukaku from destroying the Hidden Leaf, train with Jiraiya, and change Nagato's mind about how to obtain peace in the world. Naruto's journey finally led him to fight Sasuke for the future of the ninja world.

Why is Naruto Powerful?

• Jinchuriki (Nine-Tailed fox)
• learned, later upgraded, and perfected the Rasengan
• Mastered the Shadow Clone Jutsu
• Learned Toad Sage mode
• Learned Tailed Beast mode
• Combined his power with Kurama to use Nine tails Sage mode
• Was given the powers of the Sage of the Six path (for a short time during the war)
• Was able to bring Might Guy back to life from literal ashes
• Gave Kakashi a new eye
• Saved the Shinobi world from both Kaguya and Sasuke
• Became the Seventh Hokage
