Dr. Heiter kidnaps unsuspecting tourists. He then operates on them, often mutilating them. The result is a combination of fascinating and nauseating.

This is a remake of Wes Craven’s 1977 film. Set in the desert, a family is stranded and attacked by deformed cannibals. Living in a zone where nuclear testing was done, the family that survived has fed on humans for years.
An abandoned town full of mannequins and fake houses that were used for nuclear bomb testing. A family of disfigured flesh-eaters who survived the nuclear blast. The musical introduction to the movie is a visual display in itself.

A remake of Wes Craven’s original, but also produced by him. The plot follows a family who goes on vacation to a remote lakehouse. The daughter and her friend are kidnapped and tortured by escaped convicts and left for dead.
A teenage girl is tortured and left for dead. When her parents find her they learn her attackers have taken refuge in their home. The parents decide to make them pay for what they did to their daughter in horrendous ways.

Another film set around cannibals and mutated mountain men, this movie is set in the hills of West Virginia. A group gets stranded when their car tires are cut by barbed wire. They are chased into the woods and forced to fight for their lives.
Wrong Turn features a group of inbred cannibals in West Virginia. They use barbed wire as a weapon and shoot arrows at their victims. After killing them they ingest their body parts.
9. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)

A remake of the 1974 film. This revamp features better special effects and CGI. The plot is based around a group of travelers who come across deranged killer Leatherface and his family.
Killer Leatherface wears a mask throughout this film and is a literal giant. His character is based on real-life serial killer Ed Gein. However, Gein didn’t use a chainsaw as his weapon of choice.

One of the best revenge films ever made. There is a remake, but a lot of the details are cut, and the details and true terror of the ordeal make the original a better piece. A writer rents a cabin to relax and get some work done. She is assaulted and raped by the locals, who believe her to be dead. She plots her revenge and exacts it with determined grit.
Brutally raped, beaten, tortured, and left to die. This film shows the determination to get vengeance by a woman. This is why it is also known as Day of the Woman.

This classic remake is one of the best. Set in a cabin in the woods. A heroin addict going through withdrawal is attacked by a demon. None of the other people believe her, and a powerful demon sets about destroying them all to gain access from Hell to Earth.
After finding and opening a mysterious book in the basement, a group of friends is assaulted by demons. A great visual representation of demonic possession.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her role as Laurie Strode. She is the baby sister of serial killer Michael Myers. The last film of many in the series, Laurie finally gets some closure but the film’s terrifying killer is just as traumatic as in the ‘80s.
Michael Myers returns in the last movie of the installment. The masked killer has been terrifying audiences with a butcher knife since 1978. This film closes the series with just as much terror as the first movie brought us.

Starring Liv Tyler, this film is set at a vacation home. The home is invaded by people wearing doll masks. The mysterious invaders scare the vacationing couple but soon turn to murder instead.
This film was actually based on two real sets of crimes. The first being the Manson Murders. The second was an experience the director had as a child with a string of violent home invasions.
4. Ravenous (1999)

While Ravenous is a film about cannibals, the plot is much deeper. Set on the Western frontier, Army soldiers help a wounded man who claims he is the last survivor of a wagon train where one member ate all the others. After taking him to their camp members of the group begin to disappear.
A different kind of cannibal film. The supernatural aspect of ingesting human body parts to gain superhuman abilities gives it a special kick. The musical score and great acting add an extra element as well.

Filmed in 1980, this documentary type movie was banned in some countries. The plot is set with a documentary crew going to study indigenous cannibals. After they disappear their camera footage is found and broadcasted on television.
When a group of filmmakers goes into the wild they traumatize and assault natives. The natives eventually fight back. What is seen on the recorded tapes would be known as the Cannibal Holocaust.

A college student takes a babysitting job. When she gets there she learns she is watching an elderly woman, not a child. Set like an eighties slasher film, with building terror throughout.
After being fed pizza laced with drugs a young woman wakes up in the middle of a satanic ritual. This ritual is performed by the family she is working for, including the mother she was hired to care for.

If you are afraid of clowns, this movie’s focus is your fear. On Halloween, three girls are stalked and hunted by a killer clown named Art. One thing is for sure, he won’t make you laugh. Art the Clown also appears in All Hallow’s Eve (2015).
This film had a budget of 100,000 USD. Based on that this film is an amazing depiction of fear and terror. The clown murderer definitely earns his name as the Terrifier.
