While ratings are what we look for when making the best players possible in a Mycareer, you need signature skills to make your mycareer player play to its fullest potential. From defense to offense to everything in between, here are, in my opinion, the best signature skills in Mycareer for 2k14.

Honorable Mention: Lebron’s Coast to Coast

In what may be the first and last in 2K History, the actual best badge is unattainable in Mycareer, and that’s Lebron James’s special badge, the Lebron Coast to Coast, which makes any transition offense a given dunk or layup if you use Lebron. It is a great badge only available as Lebron in Play Now or any other mode where you can play as Lebron. Even if we don't have this badge, there are still tons of other OP badges to make your Myplayer the GOAT

10.Ankle Breaker

Best way to embarrass your opponent.

The ankle breaker is just as the name implies; it increases your chance to make your opponent stumble and even fall from your dribble moves. Ankle breaker is always a fun badge for getting the absolute best highlights while putting the opposing players on defense to shame. It is by itself not that good of a Skill as it’s a skill that needs to be paired with an inside skill or maybe dimer to make use of the open space the skill provides when it works. Another caveat is that it’s a good skill when it works; you don't suddenly break the ankles of everyone in front of you. It’s a fun badge and makes for epic highlights, but there are way more practical badges for making you a better player overall..

Why Ankle Breaker Is Great:

  • Highlight machine
  • A smart player can get easy points or an assist when it works.

Ankle breaker full details (level 3):

  • 30% increase in stumbles and falls for the opposing Player.

9. Posterizer

Embarrass your opponent again, this time in a way more athletic manner.

Posterizer is a badge that allows you to go into the Contact Dunk animation instead of Layup more often. It also makes the chance you finish the dunk more often and consistently. Posterizer works as a sort of 10A and 10b situation as they have the same strengths and weaknesses. They both produce the best highlights but are highly selective to trigger and rely on other badges. In this case, Posterizer is much more effective when paired with other badges like Finisher. Posterizer got the slight edge because it’s easier to trigger nature and because once it does start, it’s almost always a guaranteed 2 points with a good chance for an and-one as well.

Why Posterizer Is Great:

  • Highlights That embarrass your opponent and show off some fantastic animations and highlights
  • A guaranteed 2 points when it does trigger
  • Let’s smaller players have a chance against taller players, and taller players become even more unstoppable

Ankle breaker full details:

  • Needs 80% Stamina or higher to trigger
  • Teammates get a 5% stamina boost if the dunk is successful

8. Tenacious Rebounder

Control the Rebound, Control the Game.

Tenacious Rebounder pretty much ensures you get every rebound that goes your way. With the giant boost you get, offensive and defensive rebounds are almost guaranteed yours if you time it and are in the right place. You will still need a basic understanding of positioning and boxing out, but if you do, the rebound is yours. It’s nowhere near the top, as rebounds on their own are just one stat of many, and you can still get a lot of rebounds with proper placement and timing even if you're not playing as a big man build. Still, it's a no-brainer to have this skill if you want to go for ungodly rebound stats.

Why Tenacious Rebounder Is Great:

  • Defensive and offensive boards are yours
  • Helps negate box-outs and gets you the rebound even against players that jump first
  • In tandem with the Hustle Points skill, it’s easy buckets

Tenacious Rebounder  full details (level 3):

  • 50% increase in Box Out battles and poking balls loose when rebounding

7 .Post Proficiency

As Isaiah Stewart once said: It’s not sexy, It’s not flashy, but it gets the Job done.

Post Proficiency, combined with a player who knows how to play the post, is a recipe for points and fouls on the opposing player. Post Proficiency means having an easier time getting the shot you want when posting up. It’s not the flashiest way to play 2K, but points are points, and it works in tandem with a bunch of other badges well. The drawback is it's one-dimensional as Post Play usually is, and post-ups generally lose effectiveness as the game goes on and the other teams start to exploit it.

Why Post Proficiency Is Great:

  • Makes tough post shots like hooks and fadeaways go in more often
  • Making openings for a clean score way easier
  • Unless your double-teamed, your post-ups will usually equal 2 points, an easy foul on the opposing player, or a foul-counted 3-point play.

Post Proficiency full details (level 3):

  • Post fades, and Post hooks shot percentage goes up by 5%
  • Defenders fall for ball fakes 50% more often

6. Catch and Shoot

Super Simple but also super effective.

As the name implies, Catch and shoot makes it so that when you catch the ball and immediately shoot after, there is a very high chance it goes in, This Skill has always been a 2k staple, but it’s sadly not as effective as past 2k games because of the nerfed shooting in 2k14. Nevertheless, shooting will always be essential in getting points, and this skill is the prime example that makes any outside shot, whether midrange or from 3, go in a lot easier.

Why Catch and shoot is Great:

  • Make shots even with lousy timing
  • 3 points are still way more than 2, and this skill gets you a lot of 3s
  • Simple and easy to trigger skill That makes hooting way easier.

Catch and Shoot full details (level 3):

  • Shooting immediately after catching the ball from 12 feet and farther away from the hoop has a decreased penalty of 50% for bad timing

5. Dimer

A Good Player can get buckets. A great player can get his teammates bucket

Dimer is the quintessential passing badge Dimer makes the passes you get to your teammates almost always go in. It’s the best badge for driving in and passing out to your wide-open teammate for a jump shot or an easy drive inside. It is a pretty temperamental skill as it’s reliant on how well you can see the court and how good of a shooter and finisher your teammates are, and even after setting up the perfect shot, your teammate's ratings can still let you down.

Why Dimer Is Great:

  • Opens up your scoring as opposing players won’t be able to double team you consistently without making them pay
  • Get your teammates inside, finishing way up, letting them finish tough shots off drives.
  • Kick Outs to the open shooter become target practice for teammates, especially ones with catch and shoot.

Dimer full details (level 3):

  • No pass accuracy error
  • 8% increase in the pass receiver shot percentage if the shot would be counted as an assist

4. PickPocket

No ball is safe when your player is around.

When it comes to steals, there are many options and varieties for rips; you can strip the ball from players attempting shots, steal the ball from pass interceptions, and in my opinion, the best option for getting steals is a pickpocket. Pickpocket makes any dribble move an opening to get a snatch, and in return, an easy transition dunk, assist or even something fancy like an alley-oop. Pickpocket makes steals off of double teams easier and makes one-on-one defense a lot easier, especially if against a player with really weak dribbling.

Why Pickpocket Is Great:

  • Out of all the steal badges is the most effective and the most versatile in comparison to other steal badges
  • The steals you get with this skill when playing as any player from the 1- 3 will net you an easy transition score.
  • Makes your defense double as an opportunity to score more

Pick Pocket full details (level 3):

  • 100% increase in steal probability when attempting a steal against a player making a dribble move.

3. Deadeye

Deadeye is the no.1 badge for jumpshots. Deadeye makes any late defender does not affect your jump shot. In the past 2K games, we've seen how dominant this skill is for scoring. This skill is the no.1 support badge for any build; whether you're a post proficient big man or an outside shooter, it helps every build shoot better. If no for the nerfs of shooting in this game, this would be a clear pick for no.1 best skill

Why Deadeye Is Great:

  • Late defenders do not affect your player at all
  • All jump shots get a boost from this skill, whether its a post-fade or an open 3
  • It's a skill that pairs pretty nicely with many 2k builds.
  • Deadeye full details (level 3):
  • Late arriving defenders' penalty on a shot is decreased by 100%

2. Finisher

Makes the simplest shot in basketball 100 times easier

Finisher is the no.1 offensive badge in the agame period. With the nerfed shooting, a majority of your buckets come at the rim, and this skill makes all those shots fall in with ease. Any player from 1-5 has access to this skill, affecting everything from carved-out post-ups to drives to the rim. This skill makes layup especially contested, a lot easier to cash in on, and the best badge in 2k if you want to run the score.

Why Finisher Is Great:

  • All shots from at or close to the rim become easy baskets with this badge
  • Makes contact dunks and layups go in a way easier, which makes inside scoring pretty much inevitable unless you get blocked
  • Finisher full details (level 3):
  • Shot penalty for contested dunks and layups is decreased by 25%

1. Lockdown defender

Defense wins championships

While it can be heavily argued that the no.1 badge is a tossup between Finisher and Lockdown Defense, you cannot deny the levels of overpoweredness the Lockdown defense provides. Lockdown Defender is the ultimate defensive badge and is a guarantee that the opposing player your guardian is going to struggle to score against you. A lockdown defender is unstoppable, especially when you're guarding the other team’s best player. Slowing down your opponent, getting them cold and then going up on the other end with authoritative scoring.

Why Lockdown Defender Is Great:

  • The Opposing player will be slowed down immensely from the lack of skills
  • The soft play of the opponent usually gets them cold and makes your offense way easier in return.

Lockdown Defender full details :

  • Completely neutralizes opposing player’s signature skills

That’s all for the best 2k14 Signature skills. Use this info to go out and make the best Mycareer player you can.
