5. Dance Barn Prizes
Residents of Badgetown getting down on the dance floor in Ooblets
Dance battles are the backbone of Ooblets, and the Dance Barn is a monumental tribute to that adorable melee.
Early on in the game, players are given the task to help Mayor Tinstle renovate the old barn so that it can be used for daily dance tournaments. Ignoring the resource-heavy quest the dance barn requires, players can relish in the prizes earned by winning the tournament each day.
One of the prizes available at the dance barn is a giant nurny bundle which gives you 15 nurnies. But, although you can compete in the dance tournament daily, there is never a guarantee that the precious nurnies will be offered as the prize on the day you need them most.
You should never pass up an opportunity to snag the giant nurny bundle when it comes around, but I recommend relying on more consistent sources for your green spring collection.
How it works:
1. Unlock the Dance Barn. Once you hit player level four, you will receive a Tinstle Task called “Reopen the Dance Barn.” Navigate to the Dance Barn (a Tinstle Task marker can be found on your map) and talk with Bazil. He will ask for 20 planklets, 12 nurnies, 4 clothlets, 1 oobsidian, and 300 gummies to fix up the Dance Barn and sell it to the mayor.
2. Visit the Dance Barn. The next day, you’ll be able to enter the Dance Barn and take part in the daily tournament.
3. Check the list of tournament prizes for that week. Prizes are available at random, so be sure to check back in every few days to ensure you don’t miss the giant nurny bundle.
4. Win the dance tournament. The only way to earn the coveted prize is to win all three dance battles consecutively: the 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. If the prize that day is one you can’t afford to lose, I recommend saving the game prior to joining the tournament and even in between dance battles.
5. Collect your nurnies. The giant nurny bundle (despite its intimidating name) will give you a modest 15 nurnies, and it will be immediately placed in your inventory after the final dance battle.
4. Foraging
The dangerous Tippy Top mountain as depicted by Grumble’s highly-accurate map in Ooblets
The world of Oob is full of exciting places to explore. The best part of sight-seeing across Oob is all the wonderful treasures you find. If your goal is to find piles of nurnies, however, you’re better off flying a straight line to either Tippy Top Mountain or the Ephemeral Ooblet Vacation Spot.
While most of the areas around Oob are adorable and (mostly) welcoming, Tippy Top mountain is a frigid exception. As the tallest point in Oob, travelers will find the steep, snowy slopes treacherous for the ill-prepared. Similarly to the other regions of Oob, Tippy Top mountain has several rewards awaiting those who dare ascend its peak including the oversized quarry full of nurnies and droostral.
If you’re already trekking up Tippy Top, stopping at the quarry can be worthwhile. However, if your goal is to farm nurnies, there are several options that are strictly better than the boulder quarry. The quarry takes an insane amount of energy to break just one boulder, and the number of nurnies you get varies drastically.
Another region of Oob rife with nurnies is the Ephemeral Ooblet Vacation Spot. This traveling island also supplies players with Oob-trotter-class ooblets and oobsidian. Although you may not journey to the Ephemeral island simply for the nurnies, it is a great opportunity to pad your pockets with those valuable springs.
Tippy Top:
1. Unlock Tippy Top mountain. As the last region of Oob, you will first have to complete the storylines for Mamoonia, Nullwhere, Port Forward, and Pantsabear Hill before gaining access to Tippy Top. The day after activating the Pantsabear Hill Oobnet Tower, you will be approached by Mayor Tinstle with a new questline: climb Tippy Top and restore power to the final Oobnet Tower.
2. Prove Algud isn’t as mighty as he thinks. Before you can start your ascent, you will have to show Algud that you mean business by participating in a rite-of-passage dance battle. Once your ooblets have danced his into the ground, Algud will allow you to take on the heights of Tippy Top.
3. Talk Gelidia into lowering her prices. About three-quarters of the way up Tippy Top mountain, a large boulder will block your path. Gelidia, a cold-hearted opportunist, will sell you a pickaxe that can pulverize any boulder. Be prepared to haggle, though, as Gelidia won’t have any qualms about overcharging you.
4. Start breaking boulders. After you’ve obtained the pickaxe from Gelidia, you’ll be able to keep climbing Tippy Top. Immediately after the road blockage, you’ll come across a small cliff littered with boulders. Each one takes 40 energy to break, but you’ll have a chance at scoring 1-4 nurnies per boulder.
Ephemeral Ooblet Vacation Spot:
1. Scour the sands of Badgetown. As a VIP location, you must first obtain an invitation before visiting the Ephemeral island. Luckily, these invitations regularly wash up on the beaches of Badgetown, so keep your eyes open for a mysterious glass bottle. The location of the island changes every few in-game days, so you’ll have to find a new invitation each time it moves.
2. Convince Gimble to take you on a wild goose chase. After you’ve cracked open the sanitarily-questionable bottle, you’ll be able to talk Gimble into flying her balloon to the ooblet island. The location of Ephemeral island will be marked with a red X somewhere in the Oob ocean. The X will move slightly with every new invitation you find.
3. Tour the paradisiacal island. The Ephemeral Ooblet Vacation Spot is a cute, little island full of carefree ooblets. You can see them rinsing off, diving into the ocean, and sunbathing on the sand. As you walk around the laid-back environment, you’ll find oobsidian and nurnies scattered around. Each time you visit, you can find up to 5 nurnies and 5 oobsidian.
3. Sea Dangling
A fellow Ooblets player preparing to sea dangle
One of the great pastimes in Ooblets is sea dangling. This leisurely sport can offer many resources like stay soggies, speedy grows, and nurnies. As an added bonus, sea dangling bait is made from slurry you get when reconstitooting the trash found around Badgetown.
The Reconstitooter is also a great way to get rid of extra crops, seeds, or ingredients that you have lying around. So now you can help the environment while also cleaning out your inventory!
Among the various sea dangling locations of Oob, the dock in front of Badgetown seems to be the most plentiful in terms of nurnies. As players upgrade the Reconstitooter, they will unlock the ability to make higher-quality bait which improves the odds of catching something valuable when sea dangling.
Even though Super Bait takes a whopping 80 slurry to produce, it is well worth the effort. Using Super Bait takes your odds of fishing up nurnies from a 5.6% chance of getting 5 nurnies to a 36.4% chance of getting 15 nurnies. Strangely enough, the odds drop to 20% at Droneydrip Pond.
How it works:
1. Upgrade the Reconstitooter. At the Wishy Well, there are two Reconstitooter upgrades available: the Faster Reconstitooter and the Even Faster Reconstitooter (both cost 100 Wishies and are unlocked at player level three).
2. Make buckets of slurry. You’ll need 80 slurry to make one Super Bait. Bulk candy, hyperglobs, oobsidian, and sprockuts will each give you 30 slurry a piece (find a complete list of slurry items here).
3. Pray to the Oob gods for luck. Unfortunately, you cannot guarantee that you’ll fish up buckets of nurnies when you dangle. Even with Super Bait, you can only get up to a 36.45% chance of netting a 15-nurny haul.
4. Revel in the nurnies. If you spend enough time sea dangling (and are smiled upon by the ooblets above), chances are you’ll go home with pockets full of nurnies with a few other things sprinkled in.
2. Farming rocks (best for early-game)
The lonely, decrepit farm new Ooblets players are bequeathed
When Mayor Tinstle first shows off the tiny, abandoned farm to you, it’s tempting to be overwhelmed by the number of branches, rocks, and weeds that litter the farmland. However, these signs of overgrowth can provide players with tons of nurnies, planklets, and even oobsidian.
Each rock is guaranteed to give you at least one nurny, and most of them will give you about five at a time. Although keeping up with the rocks and branches may seem like a chore, the price of six energy per rock is a small one to pay for mountains of nurnies. Be sure to keep at least a few plots open for rocks to spawn so you can keep the nurnies coming!
As you start to build oobcoops and plant crops, it can be tempting to eradicate all of the rocks from your farm. I recommend always leaving a few plots uninhabited, though, to ensure you have a steady stream of resources coming in. You’ll never know when you might need a few hundred nurnies to complete a quest or make a quick gummy.
How it works:
1. Take a rest. Most rocks will spawn during nighttime when you are sound asleep. They do have a small chance to spawn during the day, though, so it’s worth checking in on your farm a few times every day.
2. Start your workout. Each rock or branch takes six energy to break while weeds take three. It may not seem like much, but all the chopping and smashing will catch up to you quickly.
3. Let nature take control. Be sure to leave at least a handful of plots open on your farm so more rocks can spawn every day. Don’t be scared to sacrifice one more hyperglob for the piles of nurnies you’ll get from the natural overgrowth.
1. Nurnycrop Crag
A gamer setting off to explore the Wildlands in Ooblets
The Wildlands, a chunk of wilderness dedicated to excess ooblets, is an easy resource to overlook. It takes quite a bit of dedication to restore the Wildlands to their full potential, and its out-of-the-way location requires a conscious effort to visit. What’s more, the Wildlands have unlimited space for ooblets to frolic in, even at level one.
However, if you take the time to upgrade the Wildlands to level 10, you’ll be rewarded with access to an invaluable area: Nunrycrop Crag. This rocky outcropping boasts an endless vein of nurnies you can mine over and over until you run out of energy. Each hit costs five stamina and is guaranteed to give you at least one nurny.
I recommend prioritizing upgrading the Wildlands right from the get-go as it’s never too early to start mass-producing nurnies.
How it works:
1. Upgrade the Wildlands to level 10. You can do this by completing the daily Wildland goals found on the bulletin board to the left of the Wildlands entrance. Each goal will stick around for a few days, but be sure to check back often so you know what to work toward.
2. Venture to Nurnycrop Crag. The day after upgrading to Wildlands level 10, you’ll be able to visit Nurnycrop Crag (to the right of the level two spicyspear area).
3. Start swinging your pickaxe. The main feature of Nurnycrop Crag is the neverending vein of nurnies. This prime mining location is marked by a decorative pickaxe resting nearby.
4. Nurture all those nurnies. Each swing will cost five energy and will pass a little time, but you’ll be able to mine up as many nurnies as you want without much more than the click of a button.
