Plants vs. Zombies offers us the fifth and final stage of Adventure Mode; The Roof! This mode can be quite challenging and you will require proper strategies to successfully beat the zombies up in the air. Luckily for you, there are several setups that can help you achieve success. Let me tell you more!
3. It’s all peas and sunshine!
The first strategy is pretty simple and makes use of the two most basic (but crucial) plants: the Peashooter and the Sunflower. “How can this guarantee success?” you may ask. Let me explain:
- Place a row of Sunflowers on the very back of the roof. This will ensure you have enough Sun to purchase offensive plants that attack the opponent.
- Fill each row with as many Peashooters as you can. Make sure that you spread the Peashooters evenly to prevent zombies from targeting a vulnerable row and destroying your backline of Sunflowers.
This strategy is extremely simple, but it is guaranteed to give you the upper hand against your brain-hungry opponents!
2. Let’s Bomb ‘Em
The next strategy is also quite simple, but it requires more attention from your side. You will make use of Sunflowers and Potato Mines. Deadly combination, I know!
- Fill the entire backline of your roof with Sunflowers. They are vital to your gameplay.
- Use the Sun that you receive from the Sunflowers to purchase Potato Mines and place them all over your rows and columns. Make sure that there is at least one Potato Mine per row. This is extremely important as they are your only source of offense and attack.
This strategy provides instant results and destroys any zombie in its way without hesitation, but beware: Potato Mines can only attack once. You have to be on top of your game if you are brave enough to use this strategy!
1. Who’s up for Shrooms?

This strategy makes use of the potent mushroom plants and Sunflowers, of course. It is fairly simple and very effective, trust me!
- Place an entire row of Sunflowers in the very back row. They are vital to your gameplay and serve as the core of your success.
- Place two rows of Fume-Shrooms to the front of the roof. It is vital that they serve as your first line of attack. This strategy will fail if you place them at the back since they are only activated for attack when a zombie appears close to them.
- Lastly, fill up the rest of your roof with Puff-Shrooms. They may be small, but they can cause hella damage!
This strategy is very effective and one that I use frequently. You can never go wrong with some Shrooms, am I right or right?
The roof is no one’s friend, but I can guarantee that these strategies will have you kicking those zombies’ butts in no time!
