You need a horse that will win you gunfights while proving to be a great travel companion. Red Dead is known for its counter-generosity towards players. So, you need to choose wisely when you use that hard-earned money.

3. Kladruber

Oh, what a beauty!

Price: $150 - $950
Unlock Level: Trader rank 1

The description reads - “One of the world’s oldest horse breeds, the Kladruber is a rare breed from Eastern Europe.” Their nature is calm, and they are known for maintaining a good speed in a harness. The shoulders are upright, the back long, and the croup short. They are a very recognizable breed and will surely provide great service.

You need the trader role for this one. You’ll need 1 role token along with the dollar price.

2. Breton

The mighty Breton!

Price: $150 - $950
Unlock level: Bounty Hunter rank 1

The Breton is a powerful breed and an instant favorite amongst horse enthusiasts. The Breton is a multi-class horse breed, with characteristics that make it suitable for racing and combat. This breed is strong and muscular. The bounty hunter role is the most lucrative role in the game, so, you’ll get it sooner or later. If you take up the role early on, you can buy this beast.

It can be unlocked for 1 role token after leveling up in the Bounty Hunter Role.

1. Arabian Red Chestnut

Your best bet early on!

Price: $250
Unlock Level: 1

The Arabian Red Chestnut is a Superior breed of horse with great handling, speed, and acceleration stats. It will serve as a meaningful stopgap between the horse you start out on and one of the best horses in the game, which you'll hopefully be saving up for. It is slightly better than the rank 1 role horses.
