[Top 3] Team Fortress 2 Best Demoman Loadouts That Are Great
In Team Fortress 2, your playstyle is influenced just as much by your loadout as it is by your class. TF2 has a wide array of weapon choices with all sorts of gimmicks that allow you to lean into certain playstyles.
While it’s widely agreed upon that the default weapons are the best and the most versatile choices, the question of “best loadouts” is so popular because playing these weapons is simply fun. And in a game like TF2, fun is enough! So, with that aside, here are some of my favorite loadouts for the Demoman from TF2.
Loose Cannon + Stickybomb Launcher + Bottle
The Loose Cannon is the most popular sidegrade for the Demoman, and the centerpiece of this loadout. Unlike the Demoman’s default grenade launcher, the Loose Cannon doesn’t shoot projectiles that explode on impact, but instead launches a cannonball that knocks enemies back on impact before exploding. By holding down the fire button, you can make it explode earlier. This means that, if timed correctly, you can set it to explode right after it hits the enemy, dealing double the damage.
This alternative playstyle to the Demoman has a lot of appeal to other players and, as seen in the video, it can be scarily effective if you take the time to use it correctly. Though, it should be kept in mind that it’s generally agreed upon that the Loose Cannon and Stickybomb Launcher aren’t very synergetic. I would recommend switching it with the Quickiebomb Launcher or the Scottish Resistance, whichever you’d prefer.
Loadout Details:
Loose Cannon
- Cannonballs have a fuse time of 1 second; fuses can be primed to explode earlier by holding down the fire key.
- +20% projectile speed
- Cannonballs push players back on impact.
- Cannonballs do not explode on impact.
- Double Donk! Bomb explosions after a cannon ball impact will deal mini-crits to impact victims.
Stickybomb Launcher
Bottle
Advantages:
- In exchange for the grenade launcher’s speed and consistency, the Loose Cannon rewards the player with knockback and mini-crits for successfully timing their shots to score “Double Donks.” As long as the player performs well, the weapon will show off its true potential, especially when facing groups of enemies in tight spaces or through chokepoints.
Bootlegger + Splendid Screen + Eyelander
This is one of the many variations of an alternate playstyle the Demoman has, nicknamed the “Demoknight.” This playstyle is entirely focused on closing the distance with the enemy and killing them in melee! While the playstyle has been deemed too impractical to see any competitive play, the fun value has made it a popular choice for Demoman players in public servers, and the video clearly demonstrates why that is.
Loadout Details:
The Bootlegger
- +25 max health on wearer
- +200% increase in turning control while charging
- +10% faster move speed on wearer (shield required)
- Melee kills refill 25% of your charge meter
The Splendid Screen
- +20% fire damage resistance on wearer
- +20% explosive damage resistance on wearer
- +70% increase in charge impact damage
- +50% increase in charge recharge rate
- Alt-Fire: Charge towards your enemies and remove debuffs. Gain a critical melee strike after impacting an enemy.
The Eyelander
- This weapon has a large melee range and deploys and holsters slower.
- No random critical hits
- -25 max health on wearer
- Gives increased speed and health with every head you take.
Advantages:
- In exchange for having no ranged weapons at all, you’re challenged to put your melee skills to the test. If you perform well and rack up kills in a single life, you’ll be rewarded with enough speed to chase Scouts and enough health to stand up to Heavies. At that point, the Splendid Screen and Bootlegger’s buffs will start to become more visible as well.
Iron Bomber + Scottish Resistance + Bottle
The Scottish Resistance is the centerpiece of this loadout, though the quality of the weapon has been generally agreed upon to be mediocre, at best. However, I think that it still has some uses in public servers and, in the right situations, can be used effectively. Some players share the same thought as well, such as the one in the video.
The Scottish Resistance allows the Demoman to place more sticky bombs at several key points, and pressing Alt-Fire doesn’t detonate all of them at the same time. This means that the Demoman can guard multiple points at once, or focus all their sticky bombs onto a single point in an attack. This gives him many more options and avenues for creativity in exchange for the reliability of the stock Stickybomb Launcher.
Loadout Details:
The Iron Bomber
- Grenades have very little bounce and roll.
- -30% fuse time on grenades
- -15% explosion radius
The Scottish Resistance
- +25% faster firing speed
- +50% max secondary ammo on wearer
- +6 max pipebombs out
- Detonates sticky bombs near the crosshair and directly under your feet
- Able to destroy enemy stickybombs
- 0.8s slower bomb arm time
Bottle
Advantages:
- The Scottish Resistance’s stats makes it a versatile tool for a variety of situations, defending or attacking multiple points using its ability to churn out more sticky bombs in less time.
- The Iron Bomber compensates for the Scottish Resitance’s slow nature, giving the Demoman an option when they need to deal damage and cannot rely on the Scottish Resistance.
