[Top 3] Team Fortress 2 Best Heavy Loadouts That Are Great

In Team Fortress 2, your playstyle is influenced just as much by your loadout as it is by your class. TF2 has a wide array of weapon choices with all sorts of gimmicks that allow you to lean into certain playstyles.

While it’s widely agreed upon that the default weapons are the best and the most versatile choices, the question of “best loadouts” is so popular because playing these weapons is simply fun. And in a game like TF2, fun is  enough! So, with that aside, here are some of my favorite loadouts for the Heavy from TF2.

Minigun + Buffalo Steak Sandvich + Killing Gloves of Boxing

The main gimmick of this loadout is the Buffalo Steak Sandvich and Killing Gloves of Boxing combination. It challenges the Heavy to perform well in melee, in a shooter, as one of the slowest but tankiest classes in the game. The results aren’t always consistent, but as seen in the video, when the loadout performs well, it can be extremely rewarding (and funny) to mow down enemy teams with a pair of boxing gloves.

Loadout Details:

Minigun

The Buffalo Steak Sandvich

  • After consuming, move speed is increased, attacks mini-crit, and the player may only use melee weapons. Lasts 16 seconds.
  • Alt-Fire: Share with a friend (Medium Health Kit).

The Killing Gloves of Boxing

  • On Kill: 5 seconds of 100% critical chance
  • 20% slower firing speed

Advantages:

  • The Killing Gloves of Boxing rewards consistent melee performance with guaranteed critical hits upon your first kill. The Buffalo Steak Sandvich can help the Heavy get that first kill by increasing his movement speed and damage output.
  • Depending on the situation, the guaranteed critical hits can be used on other weapons as well (such as the Minigun).

Minigun + Sandvich + Gloves of Running Urgently

This is personally my standard Heavy loadout, and what a lot of Heavy mains use. The Gloves of Running Urgently helps with one of Heavy’s main weaknesses, which is that he lacks movement and mobility. While the Sandvich gives the Heavy a full health kit on him at all times, which is helpful when he often attracts a lot of fire from the enemy team. The Sandvich can also be given to teammates when they need it.

There’s no gimmick to this loadout as the Heavy doesn’t have a lot of gameplay-altering weapons in his inventory, but I would say that this loadout is a solid option for him, playing to his strengths and minimizing his weaknesses.

Loadout Details:

Minigun

The Sandvich

  • Eat to regain up to 300 health.
  • Alt-Fire: Share a Sandvich with a friend (Medium Health Kit).

Gloves of Running Urgently

  • +30$% faster move speed on wearer
  • This weapon holsters 50% slower
  • Maximum health is drained while item is active

Advantages:

  • Get to the frontlines quicker with the Gloves of Running Urgently, alleviating one of Heavy’s core weaknesses as a class.
  • The Sandvich can be used as the Heavy’s personal health kit, while also being an option to support teammates.

Brass Beast + Banana + Fists of Steel

This loadout exaggerates the Heavy’s weaknesses and its strengths all at once. It trades what little mobility the Heavy has in exchange for damage resistance and damage output. The Banana is just there to give him health at frequent intervals. As the video demonstrates, this turns Heavy into a tank; a persistent juggernaut when properly supported by his team.

Loadout Details:

The Brass Beast

  • +20% damage bonus
  • +20% damage resistance when below 50% HP and spun up
  • 50% slower spin-up time
  • -60% slower move speed when deployed

The Banana

  • +50% increase in recharge rate
  • -33% healing effect
  • Alt-Fire: Share a banana with a friend (Small Health Kit).

The Fists of Steel

  • +40% damage resistance to ranged sources while active
  • +100% damage from melee sources while active
  • -40% maximum overheal on wearer
  • -40% health from healers on wearer

Advantages:

  • The Brass Beast and Fists of Steel as a combination makes the Heavy tankier than he already is, all while being granted by a damage bonus.
  • This loadout assumes that the Heavy will be under a lot of fire, hence the necessity to trade mobility for damage resistance. The Banana, with its increased recharge rate, also gives a Heavy option for quick health when urgently needed.
